AU 2181 Brainstorming - Ideas & Concepts for the adilas.biz "Any" Scheduler (Elements of Time) 2/1/2011   1 February 2011

Ideas & Concepts for the adilas.biz “any” scheduler - This section began 2/1/11 & concluded 3/4/11

1. Tie to payroll. Add options for commission gross sales profit.
2. Remember that one of the original ideas in adilas was a series of containers or “Pringle's cans”. Stuff things where they need to go and move things around as needed.
3. The heart is – “Objects and data over time.”
4. We are trying to record and document the “story”. Tell the story: who, what, when, where, how much, how long, why, etc.
5. Map to check points and status as they happen (past, present, and future).
6. Be your own style! And let the users be their own style.
7. Scheduler for personal.
8. Scheduler for customer time cards – tie to invoices and show payment status.
9. Go onsite and ask about schedulers.
• Dental, doctor/medical, rentals, car maintenance, manufacturing, classes and courses, golf tee times, hotel/motel, guide services, trips, cleaning companies, services like heating and plumbing, buy here – pay here, CPA/lawyer’s appointments, customer/client billing of time, reservations, salons/beauty, therapy, lessons, events, competitions, mobile persons, vacation time shares, membership, licenses, pre-paid services, etc.
10. What do you call it?
11. How many different pieces does it have?
12. How can you keep it flexible yet simple?
13. I want it to be a time-based scheduler on a flex grid tie-in level. This means all main players can play with built-in functionality.
14. Time… why not call it “Time” or “Element of time” and then let users define if they want customer time cards, rentals, to do lists, mini blogs, appointments, etc.
15. Include anything that could have a timeline on it.
16. Other thing to think about – rentals and buying down units, share and coordinating schedules, unassigned task or job pools, allow others to assign or move to their pile or task-list.
17. Add visible and basic/admin status. See the flex grid tie-ins for more info. This could also be a privacy or mark as private settings. Who else gets to see it?
18. When creating time based element – what about having a point and click interface with show/hide options during the creation process? Options, actions, types, etc.
19. What happens if I pre-define certain types of time elements and allow users to copy/paste and tweak the pre-sets?
20. Maybe I could add options for corp-wide settings and individual settings.
21. This may not be related but what about project management, goals, ideas, tick lists, wish lists, cataloging (events, agendas, video clips, etc.), or documenting ideas and plans.
22. Maybe review the MDI idea center.
23. Blogs, forums, threads, sign offs, comments, sharing and collaboration.
24. Show on web – build a pre-built page to show. This could be a blog, mini blog, update page, or a sales or specials page.
25. Along with show/hide on the web – maybe a show until date.
26. What about a newsletter? Think about an art company’s website I worked with. They also have meetings, shows, and special events.
27. What about an HTML editor of sorts – maybe photos, links, line breaks, tables, div tags (css), lists, horizontal rules, etc. This may have to come later on.
28. Keep it super simple – select time and objects and then click go.
29. Allow the time line to be printed in different formats and outputs.
30. Think about using spreadsheets as a layout form for the scheduling.
31. Some of the users will be doing scheduling either on a phone of mobile device or viewing a schedule from a phone or mobile device.
32. Think about water in a ditch – it always flows in the path of least resistance. Help to channel people and their use of the system so that if flows and is very simple.
33. Allow time elements to be tied together. This could be a single event, a series, a brother/sister or parent/child relationship. Help tell the story! Cause and effect, planned and un-planned, hay and sad, etc.
34. I am not limited to a Flash only interface. I can mix whatever technologies I need to and piggy back on existing technologies. I could use ColdFusion, database stuff, HTML, tables, div tags, css, Java Script, graphics, charts, MS Excel spreadsheets, PDF, etc.
35. Drag and drop is wanted but not required. This may come later as an upgrade or add on.
36. Design it first on paper, create static screen shots, then build the dynamic interface and add the needed interactivity.
37. Hide/show additional details when printing and viewing. This could be page settings, Java Script pop-ups, spreadsheet comments, or Flash status bar rollovers.
38. Random note about Flash – I may need to upgrade to the latest version. I could also stay with my current version for this first round.
39. We need a light package that allows for invoicing, quoting, using a recipe/build for presets, my cart favorites, groups, advanced grids, etc. We need to be able to attach deposits and invoice payments. These items need to flow right in to the normal back end adilas functions. We may need some new flags to help track states and status. I want it to go clear to the balance sheet (only if needed).
40. On the customer time clocks – allow items to be shown as invoiced/not invoiced or no charge. Allow for time sheets to show/hide on invoice. They could be individual and/or summed up. This might tie in to the visibility settings.
41. I want to allow it (time and elements) to be fully connected but they don’t interfere with normal traffic. Maybe another full application on top of the main application. Time goes in both “known” directions. Think 3rd dimension. Multiple pieces may share the same time space but each may have a different life or life cycle.
42. Time needs to be the one (1) and whatever plays in to that space is the many.
43. Allow multiple bookings in a single slot of time. Also don’t force ends to match-up perfectly. Let it flow like water… fully user-maintained… If needed show some extra flags for potential problems, double, triple, quadruple, booking, overlaps, gaps, disconnects, and waiting lists.
44. Allow the users to put and place what they want into the time-based model.
45. Allow users to go back in time (if needed). Basically, time as it is forecasted (future-somewhat unknown), time as it happens (user may be too busy to change something), and time in the past (what did happen or what was perceived).
46. The key to time is let it flow and date/time stamp and the actual history behind the scenes. This will become the audit trail if needed.
47. Like a virtual to do list – If an item gets done, let it stay. If not, allow it to be pushed forward.
48. If I’m using a quote to hold items or reservations – I may end up with multiple quotes (or invoices). It may be cool if you could stack, chain, or combine quotes and invoices.
49. It might be nice if the scheduler had its own photo gallery. It might also be nice if it had access to the reflexive photo galleries (what is it tied to). The main photo galleries are tied to the main objects. The photo gallery for the scheduler will be more of a one-time deal.
50. What if you could search, filter, and print out different Excel spreadsheets dynamically.
51. Think of the Flash timeline – This is a 2-D, layered timeline with actions, labels, spans, fills, blanks, and color-coded items.
52. What if we took that one step further and added a 3-D or cubic level to the time line. Think about the bricks in a building – Each brick represents a block of time; however, as you look closer at the individual bricks you can start seeing the details that make it up. A brick wall can be the entire wall, just a row, just a column, just a small block of bricks (cluster), or clear down to the details of each and every brick.
53. Most timelines are flat and straight. This is random, but what about a cycle, round, cubic, or infinity timeline model. Just a thought.
54. The scheduler might be a series of 1-many relationships. Each time element could have any number of subs. This could be good for details, follow-up, GPS stuff, tie-ins to other pieces, etc. It may need to go to a 3-deep level. Or more… (See #103 for ideas on subs and snap-ons.)
55. Have each corp start over with an id of one (1) and then increment from there.
56. My dad had the idea of the “any” scheduler – (12/4/10)
• All dynamic:
- Anything – different application types, general, generic, and build your own
- Any place – locations and sub locations (maybe even open or custom)
- Any # of events
- Any length (time)
- Any # of participants
- Any price or cost
57. The whole thing is a “system”. That becomes a key word. A full system allows you to do things that others can’t do.
58. I want multiple entry points. Use the quick search, use the time element homepage, and be able to add from any unit (just like the flex grid).
59. I think we need to add a new main application type to the flex grid tie-ins. It will be “Element of Time”. Maybe a future one might also be “Standalone Declaration”. This may come later. Maybe even use quote as a future option.
60. Why do you do it? Because it needs to be done! Ask the question – what would I do? This helps developer the why – the why takes time to figure out and develop.
61. Function vs. Fashion – this is an attitude. There is always a choice. Once it works – you can make it look pretty.
62. Add a one to many from locations to sub locations. This could be rooms, offices, conference rooms, cabins, king beds, queen beds, party room, mini mall, warehouse, etc. (Storage units)
63. Allow a single customer to sign-up for multiple items, packages, classes, and time frames. This could eve cross locations.
64. Allow customer to split and share tickets. This could be as simple as multi payments on the same ticket or actually splitting a ticket. Maybe a restore to cart and then some edits. The trick here is being able to keep things tied together, fast and easy, and making sure that the original gets used, cleaned-up, or voided out.
65. Potential problem – Currently invoice and quotes are location specific. We may need to look at this and allow corps to mix and match locations and sub locations on invoices and quotes.
66. Be able to register for classes, courses, trips, events, etc.
67. Employee time scheduling and shift planning.
68. Be able to handle dispatching and service calls. I also have a need to be able to tie-in GPS as part of this. This may be a sub of the time elements.
69. “Apply” what you learn! Do this along the way. Don’t wait to the end. The more you apply it – the more it becomes a part of you.
70. There may be some cross-over to the multi-media player and training application.
71. Recruit help! It is okay not to have all of the answers. The more people that are willing to help, the better it is in the end!
72. I want and need some sort of work, time, or job sheets to help tie activities to invoices and payees (employee/users) to jobs. This needs to tie back to payroll and be available as a dynamically fed option. It would also need its own report from the calculate payroll page. Think about the ski mountain I worked for and how they pay their ski school staff. It could be hourly, teaching time, head counts, referral rates, etc.
73. Contact companies already using adilas to see what they would like in a scheduler application.
74. In order to allow invoices with multiple locations, maybe we will need to switch the (P&L) revenue and COGS sections to invoice line items instead of the main invoice.
75. On quotes – we may need an option that allows for a single quote to be restored to cart or split into different invoices more than once. Currently, once an invoice is created, it locks the quote from being used. This may need to be opened up a bit. Maybe make it a setting on the main quote.
76. We already have the flex grid in place – why don’t we allow options to automatically chain and link things together. Think of this as putting water fountains and sinks around your house or building. You shouldn’t have to go all the way outside to get the water source.
77. What about events and classes. This might be a mix of dates and participants. Depending on how tight the scheduling is, I could see an alternating schedule and/or multiple classes/labs being scheduled back to back. Think of a class at Bridgerland or room at the University. Either way you might need multiple start and end times. How do you keep all of the participants tied to each date and time? Roll call.
78. Some events and classes will be in rented or non-permanent locations. We might want a choice to select from a list of locations and sub locations or enter a temporary or custom location.
79. Spent some time in Staples Office Supply Store in the planner and appointment book section. Think very simple like a day planner, to do list, desk calendar, etc.
80. Allow preset blocks – seconds, minute, ¼ hours (15 minutes), ½ hour, and hours. The user could then see and choose the level without typing anything. It would also be cool to let them see start and stop values. For example: My dad always begins at 6:00 am and ends at 8:00 pm (whatever). If something custom is needed it would also show up. Maybe even have a button for 24 hours (if needed).
81. Time – slots, as many or as much as needed. Items, rooms, persons – as many or as much as needed.
82. We many want the users to choose between simple vs. complex time elements. They also need to be able to show results on different levels. (See #103 for info on subs and snap-ons.)
83. Online reservations and registration will lead right in to online eCommerce. We need to plan for that. Along with that – we also need a way for customers to pay their bills and see history (activity) and outstanding values. Self-service.
84. If people are in a hurry – they may want to schedule an appointment without getting all of the customer info. Allow for a generic party or customer name. This can be replaced later on or just left as is.
85. Adilas already has 2 or 3 storage units. Maybe call and talk with them about wishes.
86. I use sticky-notes or post-it notes all the time. I wonder if adilas could have a small mini blog or quick notes section.
87. Remember this is just a tool. The variable is still people and having them follow through. As an idea – if you tie it to payroll – that helps motivate people and users to play.
88. Be able to choose colors. This is not required. Maybe have a number of pre-sets and then be able to add custom colors if needed.
89. Let the users define preset increments of time – a couple days, 1 week, 2 weeks, a month, etc. Or maybe have a jump field – jump ahead, jump back. Be able to easily come back to the current day. Use a calendar interface to help show layouts and dates.
90. Be able to show other appointments per customer or customer family member by clicking a link or a button to show related or other appointments both in the past and in the future.
91. If a company wants to do rentals or dispatching – allow for pools of items, locations, and users. The system could help you pull from the pools by drag-and-drop or by clicking a check box. Another idea is to have the system remember the main time element as it searches for other pieces to tie to it. (Session scope) Be able to clear the memory if needed.
92. Make this as small and easy as possible – yet as flexible, bit, and complicated as needed. This will be a balancing act.
93. Be able to mark things in/out of play. This could be workers on a crew, service trucks, equipment that is in the shop or being fixed – help coordinate what is going on.
94. Templates of time, start and end time ranges, days of the week that are in play, etc. Be able to set known times and standard occurrences – weekly, meetings, training, lunch breaks, etc.
95. It may be line managers or crew chiefs that are setting up schedules for their employees. Each crew or line may need the flexibility to switch crews, locations, shifts, etc.
96. Be able to schedule a webinar.
97. Allow a buddy system on tasks, ideas, comments, and assignments.
98. Time also deals with the future like goals and forecasting. It could also be used to determine reality vs. planned. I could see a manager setting a goal for each day – then a crew manager entering an actual for each day. That would allow the person(s) to monitor progress and actual output.
99. If you were in manufacturing – you could even schedule production runs, needs, and demands. What about maintenance schedules.
100. It would be pretty cool if the system could help send you reminders . This could be email, screen pop-ups, text messages, etc. As a side note – some scheduling applications use MS Outlook as the platform and then use a MS exchange server as part of the application. Maybe a notification@adilas.biz or reminder@adilas.biz email form or address.
101. Estimates, quotes and job costing. The goal here is to gather up the details and show how they relate to income and costs. This could include supplies, parts, labor, time, overhead, rentals, sub-contractors, project management, fees, etc. It might be nice to have a report that shows what is revenue and what is a cost or expense. The goal is the bottom line or profit margin. Many times, the element of time plays in to these types of jobs.
102. A couple of things to think about – sign off requirements, sign off by who, changing status and how long in each section (aging of changes), assignment changes, aging in the queue and/or running time between phases or status.
103. What I’m seeing develop is a simple time object that can have all sorts of subs or pieces stacked on. Kind of like Legos. The main would hold and carry all of the subs. Each sub section has the functionality built in to it, not the main time element. This allows for known actions to be “snapped on” and they already know how, where, when, and how much to play. Maybe a “time snap-on” or “element snap-on”. Build the functionality in to the subs and options. Maybe just call it and “add-on” or an “add-on component”.
104. Once we go clear to eCommerce – we will need to know what to do (instructions), what to show, and how to show availability and bookings.
105. Each element of time may be tied to a master recipe or template. This will show options, show/hide “snap-ons”, and set requirements.
106. Be able to schedule payments and due dates. This is money coming and going. Think of a bank collecting on a loan or a buy here pay here checking to see if their buyer is on time. This could also be for monies going out.
107. Almost every element or piece inside of adilas is related to time. Is there a way to bring things together without making the user duplicate their efforts? Basically, we have tons of stuff that is already getting assigned to an element of time. I would love for that stuff to show-up and be counted as well. Adilas – All Data Is Live And Searchable.
108. Reoccurring invoices (and expense/receipts and balance sheet items – not done yet) need to show up as an element of time.
109. I’m sitting here thinking about how every piece of the puzzle is tied to an element of time. I’m also thinking about how I could have missed this “Big” of a component of the entire picture. We have been running things for years and only now is it clicking and making more sense. I’m grateful that I’ve had time to soak some of this in.
110. There are six pages of notes in my mini notebook dated back in 8/27/08 under the topic of reoccurring invoices. Here are some highlights and/or ideas:
- Inter-corp options, master/sub relationship, be able to turn on/off the master, back tie to units to help buy them down (physically and/or depreciation adjustments), normal operating hours for each unit, only show those hours unless the full 24 hour link is clicked, be able to search for available dates and times, be able to cancel and back things out.
- Need in/out stamps for check in/out, booked vs. actual usage, special notes and/or instructions per booking. Think general to specific, average time slot per unit.
- What about capacity, # of guests (customers), optimal #, min #, max #.
- Productivity reports (booked, used, optional), assignments (requests), mass entry (recipes), different reports that deal with dates, time ranges, capacity ranges, available, booked, etc.
- Rate tables for seasonal use, waiting list feature, cleaning status on each unit, package deals, late fees, cleaning fees, other fees.
111. We want to add a sales and promotion section to adilas. Maybe customer reword programs, promotion codes, sales, and seasonal pricing can play in to time. This deals with loyalty programs, points, rations, and marketing campaigns.
112. Marketing and promotion is a huge part of business. Help them start to manage that as well.
113. For drag and drop or selection pools – what if we actually create a second or sub time element for items that are not available. Basically, one pool for active and one pool for inactive or out of play. This may be able to be done by reverse association but I wanted to add it as an option.
114. When going to drag and drop. Use the adilas multi-media player to show and display elements. Include interactions between the left sub and right main panel.
115. At some point we wanted to add specific medical records. The elements of time might be a perfect spot. This would be as a sub or add-on component.
116. What about someone that goes to a resort. Everything goes on a tab and then could be pulled together. It might work cool if you could stack or combine invoices. Another cool thing might be to limit line items by date range and then print or show to your client.
117. Not everything that gets recorded needs to be shown or made printable. What about practice, draft, or concept notes.
118. We need an option to add up to five levels deep for an outline. This outline needs to be able to form in html and automatically in the Flash player (sub nav panel). Be able to edit on a single and/or bulk level.
119. On the outline – maybe use a table with 10 columns. Use two columns for each level. Column 1 (one) would be the Number and/or bullet point. Column 2 (two) would have the title, data, etc.
120. We need to be able to tie assets to outlines and/or subs. This is full content management. Be able to upload and store assets and content for users. We many want this on a different content server. That way it doesn’t impact the main adilas site or traffic.
121. Another function of time is a progress report. This could be added on to a task, to do list, document, idea, project, job costing, students, customer, etc.
122. What I’m seeing is eventually all of this data and content will need to be able to fly around via web services. We want it to get to the level of… “Your data, you cache and retrieve it, we secure it.” Make a super open interface… This could even allow outside developers to tie in to adilas functionality to create a hybrid super solution.
123. “Sphere” – once you are in the data sphere you can virtually go anywhere at any time. Other words or names are ball, global, bubble, orb, orbit, and realm. This concept could make a cool visual for how to get around inside of adilas. The outside layers could continue to expand as needed.
124. Training may fit best as an element of time similar to a document, outline, or idea. The media assets and contents could then be tied to sub elements.
125. Maybe have a show/hide status for items still in edit mode. It might also be cool if you could lock things down at some point and only allow growth or actions to take place on certain pieces.
126. What if we created system-maintained time elements and they became the watchers. Return and report! I’m not saying everything, but what if we wrapped all existing objects and data inside of adilas and allowed them to play or be counted in their own time element. Maybe one element per day with unlimited financial subs.
127. We need to stitch, sew, chain, group and link things together. This could be physical, virtual, or based on a relationship model. The entire system is a series of 1 to many relationships.
128. Originally I was thinking that time had two parts type and function. What I’m seeing is that the type just tells or dictates the functions needed. You can create type by adding function(s).
129. Matter – cannot be created or destroyed – but it may be combined, altered, formed, molded, compressed, etc. Fine matter, course matter, liquid, solid, gas, vapor, plasma, pure, contaminated, etc. Cut it, stack it, bend it, break it, etc.
130. Time – cannot be created or destroyed – this is a give (as far as we know) – what we do with it depends of each person. It could be simple, complex, self, others, persons, places, things, reoccurring, standard, variable, by choice, by dictation, by consequence, by others, etc.
131. Question about the system –maintained time elements – will that blow-up the elements of time table. Maybe we could have a special system-maintained section that mimics the elements of time without adding tons of system-maintained items (non-editable and non-searchable (ish)). In some ways, it might be nice to leave time as user-defined and put the daily watchers in a different table.
132. What if the type of time is the template with all of the defaults and settings assigned.
133. Most email programs have a calendar and appointment application. They may also have a to do list or sticky note section. Some people have apps on their phone. Where adilas comes in is connecting other pieces, built-in functionality, and already in the business platform environment. We win on the scalability and tie-ins to business functions.
134. We may need a special page that helps people know about their options – training eventually, but before that – some sample and guidance… show options.
135. Allow for defaults, presets, and custom values on all entries. This includes date and time selection – auto or custom date/time stamps.
136. Create a master list of functions of time. Duplicate this list and allow users and corporations to modify or create an alias name of the functions. What they do will still be the same but allow for custom naming.
137. Categories are the same way – create defaults and allow them to change the names and values as needed.
138. Categories are tied to functions of time and functions of time are tied to templates or types of time.
139. Certain settings, like back tie to units (or anything else – persons, places, or things) may need settings and options on the individual items that could then play forward. Even though we may want a back tie – It may need to come from the items themself and only play when needed. Another option is to think more globally and create a pool that knows what to do – then when the pool is update, the items already know how to play instead of being on a one-by-one basis. This could even work for sales and promotions.
140. Along the lines above – we may need to add a reverse look-up from the items to the pools so that they know what to do.
141. On the templates (types of time) – allow for the users to either preset hardcoded values or defaults or set the settings to dynamically look-up values like current user, current location, current date, current time, etc. Help wherever possible.
142. On reminders and notifications – push the valves in front of the user on the time homepage and the main homepage. There will also be options to help notify via email or text message.
143. When booking things for a date range – maybe add a transparent sub date/time option to hold each date to help with booking and availability.
144. On categories – instead of just one, what if they could pick and choose – like check boxes or something, maybe tie colors to categories.
145. When showing people how the elements of time work – show them a very basic drawing of the key pieces. (Templates have functions and functions have categories).
146. “A fox that chases two rabbits catches neither.” Focus and get the job done! Then move on.
147. When looking at a single item – show the bookings for three months. This may help to get an idea of usage and availability.
148. Sometimes the prep is more important than the jump.
149. On the templates – It might be nice to add an option to preset sub default titles. Either separate with commas or add a one-to-many relationship. Look at the flex grid titles for ideas. Options may include leave blank, a set value, or a list of values to use.
150. I may need to “dummy” things way down. This is like going hunting with an army, planes, tanks, and ships – when all that is needed is a small gun and some bullets. I know that it is a balancing act, but less might be more.
151. Currently we have a template that controls the elements of time. What if we had some settings that controlled the templates?
152. I can see a market for a scaled down version of adilas – say an adilas express or something like that.
- Maybe a home version, a business starter version, an entrepreneur version, a small business, and a medium or large business, maybe an enterprise level. Okay, just took it too far again.
153. In conference on (4/3/11) I heard a talk that was talking about basic needs. The question was posed- will this buy me any bread? Cover the basic needs before we go tweaking to the “nth“ level. Keep it simple!
154. We may need to rate a table per user or per tech. This would automatically tie in to the rate or general amount according to who was assigned and the total time.

AU 1011 Daily Tasks 12/18/2012   • On the phone with Steve. We talked about interface and then on to money and what is needed there. We need to either, get more clients, do training, or work for people. If not, I will need to supplement with other work.
• Started on personal settings but stopped mid-stream. [This was somewhat of a breaking point for me. What this means is that I have years and years left to make everything happen, we need money, and I felt very trapped. I couldn’t sit there and make another feature. Not that it was hard, I just felt buried and trapped. I spent the rest of the day doing LTF stuff and going into town. Good change of pace.]
• Went into Logan to show people the LTF product. Stopped by tons of shops, book stores, and places. Gave demos and gave away lots of copies of the product. Went to Beaver Mountain ski office and talked with the director of the ski school, BATC Bookstore (Bridgerland Applied Technology College), BATC West Campus. my dad’s office, Al’s Sporting Goods, Directive Board Shop, Zummies, The Game Stop, Sports Authority, Seagull Book, Deseret Book, Books of Yesterday, and Oasis Books. Fun and interesting day, 40 miles.

AU 1091 Daily Tasks 2/19/2013   -Super early in the morning 2:00am-4:30am Steve and I (Brandon) got the server back online. We woke up and then got ready for day 1 (one) of the first adilas.biz training courses. We met at Bridgerland and set up the class. We had a number of students who participated in the class. We also had a guy who watched via Skype. We went from 9:00am-5:00pm with an hour for lunch. Adilas bought the lunch for the students. My dad videotaped all three days of training. After class we ate dinner at my house and talked and had little light meetings. Steve and I worked on his developer laptop and getting everything installed and up to date. To bed after 12:00am. 30 miles.

AU 1099 Daily Tasks 2/28/2013   • On the phone with a client going over options for custom websites and eCommerce. Sent them an email with info on what we have already got in place.
• Working on new schedules for classes and training. Called Bridgerland and also called my sister to see is she could help me with using “go to meeting”.
• Online viewing videos for go to meeting. Browsed their site and watched a number of video clips.
• Got scans ready for a member of the adilas team to help with a pricing matrix or fee guide.
• Purchased a one year license of go to meeting (Citrix online) to help with training events.
• Recording hours in other notebook.
• Quick phone call to Steve and playing around with go to meeting tools and such.

AU 1123 Daily Tasks 3/21/2013   • New logo for a company.
• Working on eCommerce.
• Recording hours to the other notebook. Did some training and tech support on expense/receipts. Added a view button to the chooser page. People were clicking on the set as default button instead of the graphic. The view button helps them make a decision.
• Went into Bridgerland to test the laptop on GoToMeeting. Worked with my sister for a couple of hours and tweaked some settings. Shared with my sister about what I want to do for adilas university. I also brought up the next project and how we went to take the adilas user guide to a digital level. We talked about concept, beginner, intermediate, advanced, and tech levels. At the tech level, we would be into database and code stuff. Basically, I need my sister’s help to help me carve out time to work on it. While at Bridgerland, I also talked with a guy about “PLC’s”, I think that stands for Programmable Logic Controllers. I was interested in setting up a business type model that could be arranged like an electrical or circuit board PLC. This would allow for mapping, flow, checkpoints, etc. This goes along with what we want to do for our open API (application programming interface). Anyways, I watched his run through a couple of training problems to get some ideas. What I saw was multiple tools being used at once or as needed. I saw maps, structures, desired output goals, inline monitoring, ability to see cause and effect, and ways to code and simulate code. Our model doesn’t follow perfectly with a PLC but there are quite a few similarities. Good stuff! 20 miles.

AU 1150 Daily Ideas 3/28/2013   -On an education level, maybe think about putting something up on Lynda.com (online training for tons of different applications).
-Interns may not be from the college… keep it open and include professionals, teachers, or independents. Thinking of a contact at BATC, that does accounting, consulting and teaches for Bridgerland. They would be a great asset.
-Comment from my dad – Permissions are like scrolling a football field, maybe do it by section.
-On the developer’s notebook… maybe add all of the brainstorming and ideas by section vs. by date. Get things organized and make it easy to get to.
-Add a “change” link to help with flow for changing main tie-ins like vendors and customers. This would help on invoices, expense/receipts, and special live PO’s (mixed vendors).
-On the training… schedule it out, ask what people want to learn about in advance, show the new features, create your culture. Maybe do more question and answer sections on a weekly basis. Record everything (within reason).

AU 1180 Daily Ideas 4/3/2013   -Make a business plan. Include different rounds and steps. Budgets, pro-form, interns and required steps. Also include what we’ve already done. Be positive and share some vision.
-Use people that I know who have skills. My sister, contacts at Bridgerland, my sister-in-law, my dad and others.
-Plan for cross corp business. Create a cross corp mapping table that allows any corp to crisscross or map to any other corp. This could be a one-to-many from the main corp to his/her outside vendors and/or customers. Sharing customers, sharing parts, sharing stock/units, etc.
-As a marketing game… Do a competition between universities and private parties to create a niche product that is able to ride on top of the adilas engine. (Different skins or different functions.)
-Sell adilas as the engine!
-How will people know what our product can do? What are the core functions, types, and tools? The “how to” is different than the “what is possible”.
-Look for and harness people’s potential. It is great to share, build and grow. Help other people be successful!
-What functions do we provide and/or offer? Once you know and choose a function, we can then teach you how to use or do those functions.
-Pricing… there is or there are tons of variables… which ones are important? Which ones are key indicators? How can we let price be our friend? Reps really struggle with how open the concepts and pricing structure are… We may need a standard or some way to quantify this.

AU 1209 Daily Tasks 5/9/2013   • Went out to meet with a contact and do an adilas demo. He tracks restoration jobs and weed control data. These are private and government projects that are doing large restoration projects. He has a home grown system that has four to five main pieces feeding into a large database. He then tries to pull data out of the database and show it to his customer and/or staff. His pain was in the marrying of all the different systems and then trying to pull data back with nominal web background (coding knowledge). I showed him elements of time, dynamic pages and search options, and some code basics. It ended up being more of a consulting meeting vs. an adilas demo but I used adilas as my supporting documentation and real life example of what was possible. Kind of a fun angle for using adilas as a working example of options and theory. 20 miles.
• Recording notes and monitoring remote servers.
• Working on eCommerce. Implementing new settings for cart options and flow. Started on the add to cart.
• Went in to Logan for a couple of meetings. Stopped by the bank and talked with a banker about ACH debit transactions. I then went to Bridgerland to meet with my dad and contact he had been talking to. We had a multi hour training session. It started out with just my dad and a couple. We talked theory, history, and light inventory. Another contact then joined us and we talked questions and answers for quite some time. This contact is a buyer for a sporting good warehouse of sorts. Great meeting and great energy. The couple was really excited. 20 miles.

AU 1213 Daily Tasks 5/14/2013   • Customer migration for a company out of Texas. Round two. Pulling data off of spreadsheet and importing into live database tables.
• Invoiced for a company and tried to charge their card. Came back as do not honor. Small email to let them know what is going on.
• Working on eCommerce add to cart. Lots of copying and posting and checking form values.
• Working on eCommerce and the add to cart page.
• Went into town to do an adilas demo. Put some files in the safe deposit box. Stopped by and chatted with a contact at the Logan bank. Then went to Bridgerland for the adilas demo. There were four people plus my Dad and I. There was a computer tech guy, a couple and another contact. One of them has a small repair shop; he wanted to see quotes, customer, and invoices. The couple just wanted a small overview. Great meeting and it was fun to interact with the people. 20 miles.

AU 1222 Daily Tasks 5/24/2013   • Went in to Bridgerland to have a meeting with my dad and a guy. He is maintenance guy and teaches for Bridgerland. I did a demo on stock/units and internal costing, outside repairs, and internal invoicing. We talked a lot of theory and I used Steve’s old business and another company to show different options. The highlight for me was talking about tracking data objects over time. I showed both this gentleman and my dad some of the little sketches that I’ve been working on. (5/11 and 5/17 ideas on time and tracking to micro levels). The other highlight was dealing with ideas for tons of different interfaces. We talked about interfaces for maintenance, home food storage, process monitoring, batch codes, etc. I can’t wait to get the program to that level. 20 miles.
• Meeting with by brother. He was showing me his music making software and cool things he could do with it. It was quite a visual piece of software. All kinds of buttons, options, sliders, dials, switches, etc. He kept showing me screen after screen and all of them were different. It was a little overwhelming but good to see. It cast a thought about complexity and how relative complexity really is. Another really fun thing with the sound editing software was how it could deal with live input and just by changing settings and filters it could change the sounds in real time. It also mapped things out in layers that could by moved and mapped over time. Most media type software packages have both layers and time lines. Movie editors, Flash, sound editors, etc. Anyway, fun to get some layering and timeline ideas. Great meeting.
• Phone calls, emails, tech support, and playing with new POS (Point of Sale) hardware for the upcoming training session for adilas.
• On the phone with Steve going over some code questions. Good stuff.
• New logo for a company.
• On the phone with some new contacts talking about an adilas setup. One of them wants to be an adilas rep and the other is a business consultant that works at the college. Great people.
• Domain settings for adilascontent.biz.

AU 1225 Daily Tasks 5/28/2013   • Finished up the customer migration for a company.
• Emails and tech support.
• Creating an agenda for day 1 of the training class.
• Went into town to teach day 1 of the Logan training class. It took quite a bit of time to set up the class. I had printers, barcode scanners, credit card readers, scanners, etc. Tons of stuff. I only had a few students but it was fun to do and show some different pieces. We talked about world building and how user to corps are setup. I used a graphics program to draw and show relations. I started with Microsoft Paint and then went to Fireworks to be more accurate. It got a little bit deep but it was pretty fun. One of the interesting things that happened was I introduced the “chooser” (choose your interface) and it kind of confused the students. Almost too many options before they really know where they were going. I’ve got to think of way to ease people into the mix of adilas. It is quite big and very dynamic. 20 miles.
• Small side note about how the day ended (5/28/13). About 2:30-3:00pm my wife brought my son and daughter to Bridgerland. She had taken my son in today to be checked for diabetes. His blood sugar level was over 700+. A normal level is between 60-100(ish). Anyway, the doctors wanted us (my wife and I) to take my son down to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City. So, we cancelled the last couple of hours of the day 1 (one) training course and I went with my wife and son down to Salt Lake. My dad and mom and sister helped shut things down and took my daughter home. My dad helped my give my son a blessing before we left Logan. Pretty crazy day!

AU 1656 Daily Tasks 6/5/2013   • Prep for meeting with the bank. Quick phone call to Steve. Printing out documents and such.
• Went in to town and signed papers for a new bank account. This account will be used for ACH and EFT transactions. That is where we will be doing direct debits (taking money) and direct deposits (pushing money). I also talked with our banker about options for getting an SBA Loan for adilas. Good stuff!
• After the bank I took a few June training flyers around to different people. I took some to the Business Resource Center. I then took some to a contact at the BATC Business Department. I chatted with them for a bit. While at Bridgerland, I dropped in to see my dad as well. 20 miles.
• Emails and bank stuff. Send them a rough budget for the SBA Loan.
• Recording hours and notes.
• Working on eCommerce and adding and editing web customer info.
• On the phone with Newtek going over issues with the new server. We had a couple of questions and couldn’t get them figured out. We ended up figuring out that a CFX extension for Cold Fusion was an older 32 bit program and didn’t work on the new 64 bit servers. Light research on the cfimage tag.
• On the phone with a local Cache Valley company that might be interested in using adilas.
• Working on cfimage tag stuff. Made a bunch of changes and uploaded and tested files. Swapped out an older CFX tag or extension for a new way to process images. It seems to be a bit slower but hopefully it will help us do the transition.
• Spent a couple of hours updating login files and testing the new server.
• On the phone with tech support going over migration stuff and checking files and pages on the server.
• Pointed all logins to the new server and did some light testing.

AU 1684 Daily Tasks 7/1/2013   • Emails and light tech support.
• On the phone with Steve. He was showing me some of the Flash charts and graphs he was using on a few of the custom pages. We did a GoToMeeting session and worked on code together. He was working on loops and arrays.
• Went in to town. Tons of adilas errands. Safe deposit box stuff, went to Bridgerland, chatted with an associate there about adilas, went to the bank to talk with a contact about an adilas demo and then to Staples to get a new scanner. 20 miles.
• Went in to Smithfield to work with my brother on adilas training clips. He sent me home with a couple more clips and we spot checked some of the clips together. He is doing well.

AU 1704 Daily Tasks 7/30/2013   • Went in to BATC to work with my dad on some government surplus items that were donated to Bridgerland. They, BATC, are going to be categorizing and selling the surplus items. I was there to help and show them how to use adilas to track and show the items. Very little work was done inside of adilas. Most of the day was getting organized and sorting out the items. Only about an hour of the day as spent inside of adilas. Just enough to show them parts, PO’s, and photo gallery stuff. 30 miles.
• Went to Smithfield to work with my sister and brother. Set up a printer for my mom and did some light training. She will be using it for her herbal business and tracking things through adilas. The meeting with my sister and brother was dealing with elements of time and putting the developer’s notebook up on adilas university. We also talked about some marketing stuff and using the Utah State University campus as a venue for training and sponsoring different events. 20 miles.
• Went back in to town to work with my dad and others on the BATC surplus items. Minor work was done in adilas but I feel this could be a good project to help show how adilas can help companies with their eCommerce and web presence needs. Good stuff. 30 miles.

AU 1722 Daily Tasks 8/6/2013   • On the phone with my brother talking about graphics and sales. We are planning to meet tomorrow and go over a plan and do some training. We talked about doing some marketing and even some graphic practice on the developer’s notebook. I’m hoping to use my brother’s skills in graphics, animations, and in sales. He has a natural skill set that lends well with sales.
• Back working on some data combing for a client. Lots of manual entries.
• Went in to Bridgerland to work with my dad and a contact there. I spent some time working on a customer data files and helping to answer questions about adilas. I also had some light conversations with different people who came in to look at the BATC surplus items. Once everybody left, I ended up talking to this contact about business and how to grow. He is quite a dreamer and has worked with IT (Information Technology) people before. We had a good talk. He made a couple suggestions including contract labor and keeping things on contract labor for as long as possible. He also mentioned project management software and helping to track things. My mind turned to elements of time and tweaking a few things out a bit. We also talked about using other people’s money to grow our business, instead of us funding the projects. Let our customer’s fund projects that they want and then sub those projects out. I (Brandon & Steve) need to get out of the hot spots and dream and manage more. We also need to charge more and cover our costs. Good things are happening, we just need to keep going and be willing to change as needed. Change can be very hard. It can also be needed.
• More data combing for a customer data upload. Finished up and uploaded 1,100+ new customers and log files. Sent an email update.

AU 1749 Daily Ideas 8/6/2013   -A contact at Bridgerland made some recommendations for photo management. He would like to see the ability to upload multiple images and also a system where the computer automatically goes right back to the photo management page. Kind of like an upload and then do it again without any interactions.
-As a note on the multi photo upload. It may be a cool little feature to tie into the content server. Basically, push the files up and tell the user thank you, and then keep going. When done, record the action but do some of the processing behind the scenes. This may be a good way to use a content server and then talk back and forth behind the scenes. Maybe even using a webservice and/or JSON (Java Script Object Notation), anyway, some good ideas.
-We may want to run an ad for contract developer or developers for small projects.
-An idea for inline custom code – What if we allowed each page in the site to have a custom section where code could be added for buttons, links, graphics, etc. Imagine a spot at the top, a part of the main body, and a part at the bottom. Almost another piece of the header and footer that allows custom code. It would be both HTML and possible dynamic code options. On the dynamics, it could be, pick what variables are available and do the mapping in-line.
-If we allow in-line custom code, we will also need to validate it. This may be down the line a ways.

AU 1737 Daily Tasks 8/23/2013   • Reviewing graphics for my brother. Answering emails and light tech support.
• More graphic stuff with my brother.
• Working on elements of time. Added a new link to the add/edit sub dates and time section. The new link allows you to add a new sub starting right where the last one left off.
• Went in to town to work with my dad on tracking runners for the Bear 100 miles race. Making small tweaks to adilas and the sub dates and times feature within elements of time. 30 miles.
• Went up to the University and talked with a gentleman in the Business department. We had a good sit down meeting and I tried to tell him what we are looking for as far as interns and help from the college. It takes a little bit of time even for people to understand where we are coming from. I really enjoy talking to people who will listen. One thing that I do too much of is trying to get out everything at once. I get so excited, I just want to tell them everything all at once.
• Went back to Bridgerland to work with my dad more on tracking the Bear 100 runners. He is getting the flow down and it is fun to see him using adilas.
• Recording notes, checking email, and checking in on different projects.
• Went in to Smithfield to help my brother and give an adilas demo. The guy was interested in an inventory tracking system. He wants to do eCommerce, eBay, and merchant processing. Fun little demo. I then got some new video clips from my brother. He’s been working hard!

AU 1743 Daily Tasks 8/30/2013   • On the phone with my brother going over graphics and future projects.
• On the phone with Steve talking about training and upcoming projects and needs. Steve was very excited about getting help from interns and such. I took a whole page of notes. They will be recorded later on. It was fun to feel Steve’s excitement. Great phone call.
• Recording notes from day three of the adilas training.
• Worked on the custom pages for our teacher associate and the teacher/student interface.
• Went in to town with my sister to go meet with a contact up at USU.
• She and I talked about ideas for adilas all the way to our appointment. When we got there, he wasn’t there. So we chatted and talked with a student who was also waiting for Dave. As we chatted, he mentioned that he has done some sales, had some graphic experience, and may be interested in a job. He seemed like a nice kid. 30 miles.
• After that my sister and I met with our contact we had intended to meet with. It kind of started out a little rough but go better. After a while he made a call to another professor who works in information systems. He hung around for a little bit and then left. My sister and I finished our visit with the other professor and his son. It was mostly concept and vision. At the end, he showed us a project that he was working on. It had a nice graphical feel and he was using some new technologies. It was nice to see. I can’t wait for adilas to have a fun skin on top of it. On the way home, my sister and I talked about how nobody gets adilas at first. It seems to take some time to get people into a new mind set. Education is huge!
• Went over to Bridgerland to pick up the adilas laptop. Talked with dad a bit and then headed home.
• Working with my brother on adilas video clips and such. I gave him a copy of the new August adilas training stuff. Once he gets done with the other footage, he will start on that section.
• Previewing and checking out video footage from my brother. Started squeezing video clips.
• More work on our teacher’s custom teacher/student project. The custom part deals with core data tracking. We have a page that grabs custom flex grid fields and builds a dynamic menu of sorts. Walking through each section line by line. Not very hard, it just takes time.

AU 1775 Daily Tasks 9/11/2013   • Went in to town to meet with some ladies at BATC. We setup in one of their offices for an adilas demo and an interview. They videotaped the interview. I also used GoToMeeting and captured a full screen capture of the session. The interview had a strong flavor of how BATC (Bridgerland Applied Technology College) has played a part of our success over the years. It was a fun demo and got to use the adilas toys. I used the receipt printers, barcode scanners, flatbed scanner, label printer, and the credit card swiper. It was fun and hopefully showed some good vision for the future. After the demo, I stayed and talked some business ideas with one of the ladies. She has a number of health coaches that need a mix between eCommerce, inventory tracking, and CRM functionality. She had some great ideas about eCommerce and potential flow. 30 miles.
• My brother came over and we talked about future projects and marketing ideas. He showed me some of his drawings and concepts for adilas commercials. His skills are improving. He also got a new computer that should work awesome for him. We then spent almost an hour using a screen capture product called Camtasia Studio 8 by TechSmith. The product was quite slick and I could see some great potential. We did a few screen captures and recordings on sales, invoices, customer logs, timecards, payroll, shopping cart, my cart favorite buttons, etc. I can see us using this software for adilasuniversity, commercials, and other tech oriented videos. Great meeting!
• Recording notes and transferring loose pages into my notebook. My sister had my notebook for a couple of days.

AU 1782 Daily Tasks 9/19/2013   • Emails and tech support. Got a call from a client about the new Texas 130-U application form.
• Adding an option for Steve to be able to upload to the public folder on adilas.
• Prep for interviews. Emails and getting things lined up and ready.
• Went in to town to conduct some interviews for adilas interns. I picked up my sister and we went in together. On the way we were talking about tools and what they do and what they require. We then started talking about models and how to break models and tools. That was fun. We even talked about how to break our (adilas) current model. We talked about where it needs to go and how to get there. We got to the University and met our first appointment. She was from India, what a sharp cookie! Both my sister and I were blown away and she seemed to be just beaming with potential. She had done some research, she had good questions for us, she presented herself very well, and both my sister and I were smiling the whole time that we talked. Great interview. For our next interview it was another lady and she had smaller skills and lacked confidence. My sister and I then had a brainstorming session waiting for our next appointment. We were talking about how to introduce our system players and groups. We talked about introductions, abilities, What does it do?, Who are its friends?, How does it interact?, What are its weaknesses?, Limitations?, and Shortcomings? We talked about usage and frequency. As we got deeper and deeper into the analogy my sister had the idea of going clear up to the “world” level. We talked about an analogy of going to an ice cream shop and virtually choosing your flavor. Very diverse and no good or bad choices – just different flavors. We also talked about basic intros and then branching according to flavors. Great brainstorming session.
We then drove to Bridgerland and met with a lady. She was at the last adilas training session. All three of us continued the brainstorming that my sister and I were doing up on campus. We ended up with ideas that the business functions that adilas does or ways to use the system are like our menu options – what do you want? The groups of application types (players) are the pieces we mix and blend to get you the results you are looking for. As we mix and blend system players we can give the desired business function or outcome. We had a good time. As far as the core concepts and theory, those pieces are the supporting roles or foundation that create the malt shop itself. They are ever present and support the functions and players. After our meeting we setup this associate with her own little adilas account. 30 miles.
• On the phone with my brother trying to figure out options for video editing. I got an email from Steve and David about cost and what we are getting for that cost. Good stuff. We may need to alter our current flow, but good stuff.

AU 1806 Daily Tasks 10/2/2013   • Prep for interviews and non-compete and non-disclosure agreements for the two interns.
• Went into town to meet with one of the interns at Bridgerland. We met, signed agreements, and I set him up with an adilas account. We made an invoice and did some light training. He was put on assignment to spend 10 hours on adilas and 10 hours on ColdFusion and getting to know what he will be working in. Good meeting. 30 miles.
• Went over to my brother’s house to review commercials and progress. We talked about his adilas engine drawings and his system overview commercial. We talked about design and other requirements. I authorized an additional $500 towards labor costs. We also talked about scripting out words and terms for an adilas intro or virtual tour of system basics and navigation. Good meeting.
• Went in to meet with a banker. We talked about options for loans and how adilas doesn’t have the cash flow and collateral for a standard bank loan. We have everything else, but those two factors don’t even let us play in the normal banking world. Good meeting.
• Went up on campus to meet with one of the professors about API’s and how he uses them. We talked shop for about an hour on web architecture and design. We talked security, rest full web services, JQuery, libraries, twitter bootstrap, designing on a grid, and passing back and forth JSON objects. Fairly technical conversation. He showed me some of the things his children are doing. That was kind of fun. One of the gems of our conversation dealt with content servers and architecture for files and even moving files using a backend agent after a given time period. One of the ideas was to use simple storage devices that costs pennies and then have the application go retrieve the correct files. Basically, the net hardware was not directly accessible to an outside traffic. Normal web or application traffic would talk to the server who would go get the actual file. However, the actual files were unable to be shown unless the correct incoming path was used. This is nothing new but I had some good ideas on how to structure our upcoming content server. If we do things this way, we don’t have to store content and files in databases. We could just store files in non-accessible folder and have the system return them as needed. Along with that, we could even store different versions of the file with our own names. Then as they are needed, we could pull them back without overwriting older files. Anyway he had some good ideas.
• Went in to Smithfield to work with one of the interns at his house. We met, signed agreements, set up a new account, light training, and he billed me for his first assignments. Similar to the other intern, he is on assignment to do 10 hours of adilas exploration and 10 hours of ColdFusion exploration. Great meeting and I think he will be very solid to work with.

AU 1812 Daily Tasks 10/7/2013   • Add in old expense/receipts and adilas bills.
• Email to Steve about banks and investors.
• Printed out some new business cards.
• Sent out emails to intern candidates that did not make the first hiring cut.
• Brainstorming on a project tick list.
• Went in to Bridgerland to teach the first Intern ColdFusion class. One intern participated through GoToMeeting and another intern and another gentleman were physically at the class. We set up computers and got going. We covered basic variables, URL scope variables, FORM scope variables, and basic cfoutput and validation. It was a good intro class. 30 miles.
• On the phone with Steve. We were talking about marketing and how to get our product out there. We talked about custom code projects, interns, and industry specific needs. We also talked about selling parts and pieces of our product, like eCommerce, just the CRM stuff, just scheduling , etc. Lots of options. In a way, we have created our own market; we just need to figure out how to market that. We also talked about funding sources such as loans, contracts, and investors. Mostly just ideas but chewing on a couple of different ideas.
• Reviewing elements of time from April 2013 forward. Light prep for meeting with a potential investor. Lots of good stuff.

AU 1813 Daily Tasks 10/8/2013   • Playing with ideas for securing images in non-accessible folders. Light testing.
• On the phone with an intern doing a GoToMeeting session. We did a light intro to elements of time and what he will be working on. We talked about source control and sharing files. I also tried to share the vision of what we want from elements of time. It, element of time, is somewhat a precursor to what we want to do with the rest of the system. Meaning point and click interface for building master templates. Bolt-on functionality options (subs or functions), and multiple views such as calendar, time slot, groups, and details. Anyway, good stuff.
• Prepping files for an intern to work on elements of time. Posted a bunch of files online on an FTP server.
• A contact came over and we talked about adilas for a couple of hours. I explained some of the new visions, options, and different things that are going on. Our last meeting was back in early April of this year. We have come a long way since that meeting. Most of the progress has been figuring out what our model is and heading toward an eBusiness model with self-help and custom wire jobs. We’ve created new flyers, added video help, and even added a few new wire jobs along the way. We have the first round of eCommerce up and online. We have also started toward promoting adilas world. We’ve added content videos to adilasuniversity, and done hours and hours of training sessions. Good things are happening. He and I talked about funding, vision, and potential. We also talked about a business plan, pro-formas, and seeking investors. Lots of chat back and forth about what is still needed. I’m very grateful for his help, tutoring, and listening ear.
• Went in to town to help a guy who’s been joining our training sessions with his installation of his ColdFusion test server. Light ColdFusion training with he and some others there at Bridgerland. 30 miles.
• Working on the new Texas 130-U PDF state form for Texas Trailer Dealers.
• Answering and reading emails.

AU 1815 Daily Tasks 10/10/2013   • Went in to Bridgerland to work with the adilas interns on a new photo gallery for elements of time. We started out with goals, working on paper, and then into code. An intern, myself and a guy joining our class were there to begin with. The other intern joined us after lunch. Great session and we had fun getting in to the code and making it work. We played in databases, ColdFusion, and online in the Browser. By the end of the class, we decided we wanted to do it again tomorrow. Part way through the class a guy came by to meet with me. He is a consultant/sales guy here in Logan area. We met and talked about options for becoming an adilas sales rep and independent consultant. He’s got good potential. 30 miles.
• Met with another guy. He is a high end consultant and process improvement guy. We had a great talk and I pulled out some gems from our conversation. He has been around the block a number of times and has seen different companies work on refining processes. We talked Lean, Root Cause Analysis, Operations, Brick Walls, and Value Stream analysis. Great meeting. See other notes for more info.
• Went to Smithfield to work with my brother and his girlfriend. Go 9 or 10 new videos from my brother.
• Answering emails and tech support.
• Reviewing new videos, uploading videos to YouTube, and more emails to Steve.

AU 1836 Daily Ideas 10/10/2013   -Use Bridgerland (BATC) as a source of interested people. Do live classes every day and work on real projects. Both learning and doing at the same time.
-Think of the perpetual education fund and training for new jobs and skills. Feed the system through education.
-If we give away training… we could potentially help staff our short comings. Lots of new jobs through training and education.
Notes that I wrote on the back of a gentleman’s resume that I met with. He is the high end consultant and process improvement guy that I had a meeting with on 10/10/13.
-“Don’t lose the entrepreneurial spirit.” That is a gem! Dream it up and go get it! Keep that entrepreneurial spirit!
-Sometimes we may be missing a huge key piece of the puzzle. Often it is good to get all key players together and brainstorm. If the planning is only done by one, then it may be uneven or one-sided. Play as a team.
-Maybe a huge piece that we are missing is the custom code work and consulting sections. We are allowing tons of outside reps and consultants to make lots of money supporting and selling our product. We may need our own internal teams so that we could capitalize on those pieces. Adilas creates tons of profitable byproducts. Maybe just scoop those up and harvest the profitable byproducts that get created naturally.
-Every company has both inputs and outputs. What are our inputs and outputs?
-Where are our needs? How can we solve those needs?
-What are our client needs? How can we solve those needs?
-Keep building toward the dream. Spend time on where it needs to go.
-Keep doing good and keep serving. Sometimes service pays more than hard money. He told us a story about a lady he met on his mission to England years ago. The lady recently contacted him after 40+ years. She and her family had been praying for he and his companion all of these years. She had never joined the church but had kept them in her prayers. Finally, her granddaughter asker her grandma, who are these guys that you keep praying for? The grandma told the granddaughter that they were LDS missionaries that had taught them about Jesus and the gospel years ago. The granddaughter asked the grandma, do you still keep in contact with these people? The grandma said she hadn’t heard from them for over 40 years. The granddaughter asked if she could look them up online. She, the granddaughter, contacted him just a couple weeks ago and they met up while the grandma was here in the states on a vacation. Here’s the kicker… the reason the grandma kept including these Elders in her prayers was due to an act of service while the Elders were teaching her about the gospel. While teaching her, they taught her about the Lord’s law of health called the Word of Wisdom. The grandma was a smoker and the Elders taught her that the Lord’s law of health frowned on smoking and use of tobacco. Anyway, at one of the visits, the Elders (he and his companion) saw a new pack of cigarettes that the grandma had purchased. They asked her about it and she said that was her last pack and she was going to quit after that. Then he offered to buy the cigarettes and said – “Nah! I think you already had your last pack. How about if I buy them from you and you stop, starting form the last one you smoked.” Long story made short, the grandma was so impressed that a young missionary would use their small amount of money to help her quite smoking that she prayed for he and his companion for over 40 years. The missionaries were transferred out of the area and lost contact with the lady. It wasn’t until just a couple weeks ago that the contact was re-established. Awesome story and even more fun to hear it right from the guy who it happened to. Pretty cool! What is the effect of service? We may never know.
-Going back to the pieces that adilas may be mission… There are tons of jobs and tons of projects. Let’s reach out and gather or harvest some of those pieces. We want to use other people’s money to help fun those projects.
-We need one of more internal teams that could do sales, consulting, setup, and custom implementation. That may be the next phase of growth.
-On a different note, we really need to help map out the system. A virtual adilas “you are here” or a flow chart of what goes on. We need an adilas GPS system of sorts.

AU 1818 Daily Tasks 10/14/2013   • Burning a back-up DVD of files and recording hours.
• Recording hours and sending emails out about this week’s ColdFusion training course. Sent messages to the interns, other contacts and Steve. Trying to slowly create an internal adilas team of sorts. Once we create a team, we should be able to start harvesting many of the profitable byproducts that adilas create naturally.
• On the phone with Steve going over budgets, interns, projects, and forecasting. Good stuff!
• After getting off the phone with Steve, I started working on an adilas pricing matrix. This deals with the number of users/employees per location, number of invoices, stock/units, eCommerce, payroll, and other services that are needed. Basically, it is a simple one page worksheet that helps get the ball rolling. It’s not perfect yet, but a good start.
• Went in to town to start day one of five for some adilas intern training. Our goal was to go start to finish on what we were calling the adilas YouTube video project. The goal was to create some new tools to help categorize and catalog the hundreds of YouTube training videos that we have. As the day went on, the subject kept expanding from just YouTube to general training to categories files, media, content, etc. Interesting progression. We wrote down our goals, talked, brainstormed, and did some planning. One intern did a great job and helped with the planning session. By the end of the day, we had a rough sketch of the database and tables we wanted to use. Great session. 30 miles.
• Cleaning up, rendering videos, and emails.
• Met up with some contacts that my mom and dad had set up. He is a small business consultant and entrepreneur and his wife works at Bridgerland, great meeting. We swapped stories and background and then talked adilas concepts for quite a while. They both had good questions and I even ended up writing and drawing out analogies on the white board. Great conversation and meeting. They would like a demo in a couple of weeks.
• Emails and making a few tweaks to the adilas pricing matrix.

AU 1841 Daily Ideas 10/17/2013   -Quote from a Bridgerland associate, “sneaker net” (shoes) – Running around manually, moving files around or doing things. Manually moving things from place to place, old school style.
-“Hypertext” – This was the original heart of the internet. This is the ability to link, jump, and pass data from page to page. This note came from a discussion with one of our graphic contractors during the ColdFusion class.

AU 1832 Daily Tasks 10/30/2013   • Calling and checking on credit card accounts. Moving money around.
• Phone calls, emails, tech support, and reviewing graphics. Got some new graphics from a lady for the adilas formula flyer. This graphic has concepts that were brainstormed from back on 9/28/13 and deals with: Choose your flavor, Pick your tools, Skin your engine, and Build your world! Basically; Dream it up, we’ll wire it up!
• Went in to Bridgerland to work with the interns on the media/content project. My computer wasn’t working that good at first. An intern was able to show us his work and helped everyone get up to speed. After that, we started working and planning out the main add form for the media content stuff. Lots of planning and prep work. As part of the planning I had the interns grab paper and we drew out a light map of what the form needed to look like. We then prepped the form. We will wire it up tomorrow. Good session. 30 miles.
• Our teacher contact came over to talk about the teacher/student interface and doing exports to Excel. We decided that just looking at the data and filing out the pieces by hand would be the best solution. We did some light training and I showed her some ways to search her data.

AU 1833 Daily Tasks 10/31/2013   • Recording notes and planning out the day.
• Worked on prep for capturing file paths for local files. Ran into a browser security issue with accessing local files.
• Went in to Bridgerland to work with the interns. We spent the whole day working on the add/edit media page. Part of the day was spent setting up the default add mode variables and the rest of it was working on the actual HTML form. We ran into a possible cross browser issue on our work around. Overall, good session.
• Emails, tech support, and small code tweaks. Small fix for the Texas 130-U document. Made some address changes.

AU 1854 Daily Tasks 11/8/2013   • Emails and tech support stuff.
• Made an adilas certificate of completion for a guy who attended the October training session. He needed it for some continuing professional education (CPE) credits.
• Prep for the ColdFusion class. Tried a few ideas for submitting a form with specific size dimensions. Just playing.
• Went in to Bridgerland for the intern class. We had a great lesson by one of the interns on disruptive innovation vs. sustaining innovation. He got some of his ideas from a book by Clayton Christensen. Basically, a disruptive innovation is something new that alters or changes the traditional scope or flow. Because it is so different, it changes the market. Once it changes the market, other people and/or companies follow and try to do the same thing. Often the first one in (the original) gets setup as the leader. On the other hand, sustaining innovation takes an existing idea or product and improves it. This changes things over time and build on existing products and services vs. altering markets and changing or disrupting flow. Anyway, a great presentation and discussion. After that we worked on the flow for adding and uploading media and content. I gave them a flow chart of what we were trying to do and then we started into it. We ended up running into an issue that dealt with making and pulling values out of a list. It was kind of off topic but a good exercise. The group dynamics were much better today. 30 miles.
• Spent some one on one time with an intern looking over his sortable columns and sortable table stuff. It was an interesting use of java script. We got the intern paid up and then I worked with another intern for a bit. We created him an adilas account and helped him create a couple of invoices for billing us for his time.

AU 1858 Daily Tasks 11/13/2013   • Updating help files for the teacher/student interface.
• Went over to Brigham City to do some training for the school district. My sister and I went over together. Once we got there, we setup a projector for the smart board and got ready. We had 15 or so people in the class. It included teachers and administrators. A good mix. The training went for about 1.5 hours and was pretty light. It was mostly just dealing with teacher/student functions. After the main class, my sister and I spent another hour and a half with the school secretary going over more admin and maintenance pieces. My sister did most of the training for the secretary. Good stuff. We chatted about things and options the whole way home. 60 miles.
• Went in to Bridgerland to work with the interns. I taught a small class on building and stacking basic pieces together. I used my hacky sack to show the guys some basic moves and then how you could put basic moves into combination. Later in the class we did some basic training on simple variables, lists, arrays, structures, and then mixing and blending those pieces. We also worked on setting up our first function or ColdFusion method.
• Emails and recording notes while the video was rendering.

• On the phone with Steve talking about prices, servers, and future pricing options for our clients. We also talked about other projects and needs.
• Emails about shared servers and semi-dedicated servers.
• Prep for a conference call with a gentleman from Full Circle. We will be talking about hooking into 3rd party web services and using adilas to feed those web services.
• On a demo call with an email and text message blasting company called Full Circle Media. The guy is a ColdFusion developer back East. We had a good phone call and he did a great job on the demo and explaining both what they do and what they would like to do with us as a company. Great phone call and we will be talking with them more as things develop.
• Went in to Bridgerland to work with the interns. We talked about web services and then moved on to displaying data on the media homepage. We worked on table joins and creating dynamic SQL code. Good work session. Only two interns were there at class.

AU 1863 Daily Tasks 11/19/2013   • Emails, backing up files, and prep work.
• Working on eCommerce code. Added code to the web quotes and orders page to help with virtual logging in from a hyper-link or web link. Worked on the web invoice file to help with eCommerce and emailing links to customer invoices.
• An intern came over and we worked on the invoice page together. Good stuff and great session.
• Went in to Bridgerland to work with the interns. WE started out on the media homepage and shared code between what two of the interns had on their own code files. God back and forth action. My sister then did an hour long training session on using elements of time to track time on different projects. It was a good session and we covered some good ground. The interns and I then worked on the advanced search page for media content. We got a couple of concepts in and then an intern had to leave. The remaining intern and I worked on the rest of the form and all of the prep work to make sure we got everything. Lots of details. 30 miles.

AU 1865 Daily Tasks 11/21/2013   • Got an email from a client. They just added six new locations and needed some merchant settings applied to the new locations. That is exciting! That brings them up to 44 locations. That is awesome!
• Add a new logo for a client, my brother did the graphic.
• Reviewing an online eCommerce video that we put up on YouTube.
• Rereading code for eCommerce. Signing off on code. Working on a more generic customer sign on. The old way was pretty tightly tied to a valid shopping cart. The new way will be a little bit looser to allow both existing customers and new customer s to access backend options. Security will still be tight for customer actions, just the gathering of information will be relaxed slightly.
• Went in to Bridgerland to work with the interns. I did a small eCommerce demo showing actual invoice creation and payment stuff. That is a new feature. My sister then did a demo on the flex grid and how to use it. We spent an hour and 3 interns had a blast playing with different pieces of the puzzle. Great session. After that, we worked on the advanced search page for the media/content application. Another lady helping with some projects came by and we showed her our progress. 30 miles.
• Talking with this lady about the “dream it up” graphic. That little graphic says a lot about what we are trying to do. We also talked about a possible project that she would like to do for her current boss and how they train substitute teachers. We then talked quite a bit about custom interfaces and how the word “interface” also or almost deals with the word “space” or “work space” or “flow”. That was a really fun conversation. She gave me a disk of files and I got her paid up.
• Recording notes on time and space and how interface plays into the space part of the puzzle. Cleaning up computer stuff and heading home.
• Went to Smithfield to work with my sister and brother. I got 11 new videos from my brother and we talked about getting him a new laptop so that he could work from home. I then worked with my sister on what we wanted from the adilas user guide. We talked about using her own words, Steve’s stuff, and my help files to come up with a rough outline for the user guide.
• Uploading new video clips to YouTube. Light file management and pushing up the new files.

AU 1889 Daily Tasks 12/3/2013   • Prep work on the adilas platform concepts and theory. Found a couple good entries in the adilas university site for the developer’s notebook. They were 4/12/12 and 9/28/13. Good stuff.
• Making some phone calls on SSL’s and how best to set up server structures.
• Went in to Bridgerland to work with the interns. My sister and two interns were there. We started out with my sister doing some training on PO’s, inventory, and parts. We played in a play site and added tons of candy bars and different items. We flipped PO vendors and even did a global find and replace on a duplicate items. After the training we briefly talked about how quick things transfer directly to eCommerce.
• We then did a two hour brainstorming session on the current adilas server and database structure. We talked current state and tons about future plans. Lots of talk about platform and making adilas into a full on business platform. Steve joined our GoToMeeting session and really helped out a ton. Of the 2 hour session, Steve talked for about 45 minutes on different subjects. Great session. We recorded the whole session through GoToMeeting. I spent quite a bit of time drawing out small models and diagrams in a graphics program. It worked out pretty slick and helped to illustrate the points that were being made. Awesome session! 30 miles.
• My sister and I sat down and went over 10-15 categories in the adilas user guide. She took notes and I talked and showed concepts using some of the training graphics. Fun mix of history, concepts, and basics.
-On payroll taxes, we have had the request to check into tax settings for persons who work in multiple departments. Currently, the system treats each employee and each department separately. Some of the employers would like it to track independently, like we do in the back end, and then bring it together in the front end as a group. That way they make sure that the employee is getting enough taxes withheld.

AU 1896 Daily Tasks 12/10/2013   • Recording notes in my notebook.
• Working with an intern on where we are going. We both went to Smithfield to get him some GoToMeeting footage from our adilas design meeting back on 12/3/13. 20 miles.
• Went in to Bridgerland. I had to wear the neck brace. My neck has been hurting. I worked with the interns on their projects. We did a group lesson on adding pagination to reports. An intern worked more on the media/content project. 30 miles.

AU 1898 Daily Tasks 12/12/2013   • Checking out new servers. Ordered three new servers. Talked with the sales rep, reviewed quotes, and went ahead with it. Exciting! One new media/content server and two new data servers. Also ordered 5 new domain names for future data servers. Emails and tech support.
• Went in to Bridgerland to work with the interns. Brainstorming with interns on server layout stuff. Lots of drawings on the whiteboard. We talked lots of concepts. Talked about objects and data over time and how to speed up processes. We talked about splitting databases, indexing numeric dates and times, and cloud structures and virtual load balancing. We need to plan for media/content servers, data servers, databases (clusters), and then corporations with in the databases. Light research and talk about existing cloud structures and how they handle similar pieces. Still leaning towards our own manual load balancing and cluster models. 30 miles.
• My sister came to Bridgerland and taught us a great class on concepts of mixing and blending and making objects. We started out talking about PO’s (purchase orders) and what they need to take or allow. No specific order, just brainstorming and listing pieces. We then talked about chocolate chip cookies and what it takes to make those. We talked about timing, processes, and even checkpoints. We then talked options and how adilas allows for mixing and blending and tons of options. Great comparison between the two things. We then took it a little farther and started talking about options, choices, and flow for invoices and shopping carts. Tons of cool cross over ideas. The whole session or class was a whiteboard discussion of sorts. Good stuff. At the end we talked about allowing users and companies the option of organizing processes and space to be more efficient. This could be more in-line custom code, new settings, sub classifications, or custom processes and /or virtual checkpoints. We talked business mapping and using an application flex grid. Great session and good participation.
• Recording notes on what happened today. Exciting stuff!
• Emails.

• Light research on updates for ColdFusion. Checking out versions online.
• Checking in on new servers and poking around a bit. They are brand new and totally blank servers.
• Writing a special email with instructions for getting the new servers online and up and running.
• An intern came over and we worked on more brainstorming on the new server clusters. We called Newtek and asked them about options for load balancing. There are some good options but I keep coming back to smaller independent models. It means more work but I can see some great advantages in going in that direction. We also talked about using cloud options but we decided to side table that for now.
• Went out to my brother’s house to get some new video files. He has been working really hard and gave me tons of new files. I got 38 new video clips from June and July of 2013. I also got 4 new clips from an interview at Bridgerland. Good stuff. 30 miles.

AU 1904 Daily Tasks 12/19/2013   • On a conference call with some folks from Texas. They had some questions about bank balances, balance sheets, etc. Small training session on those pieces. We also changed some colors and showed them some new tools. Good session.
• An intern came over and we had a planning and brainstorming session on how we are going to setup adilas and all of the server and cluster structures. Lots of drawing and sketching of ideas. We also started listing out goals, needs, and known issues. We decided that we would use corp key id’s, allow unique aliases if needed, and make the corporation id’s all come from the master control center. We also determined that users would be help in a master list as well. We would have records on the admin master level, the cluster level, and the world level. Users may also have a local or inter world id and an id that is global or outer world id. Each world will mostly use the inter world id numbers. The more global or outer world id number will only be used to determine cross world or cross cluster relationships. Also, I gave the intern a copy of some of the adilas code for his home machine. I think that will help him get his head around things better for future projects. Safety and security through sharing.
• Went in to Bridgerland for the last class session of the year. We had 3 interns there and my sister. My sister taught us for an hour on expense/receipts and how seeing the bigger picture helps us understand the system thinking. As you get the bigger picture, you start looking at cause and effect relationships. As you start seeing cause and effect relationships, you start formulating goals and desired outcomes. Once you have a goal or have an anticipation of what an action does, you have more focus and are able to get to the task at hand. In a way having the goal and knowing how to get the outcome helps you move around the system better.

Another interesting concept was dealing with a super flexible interface and then slowly becoming more rigid or linear. Think of driving to school... You could come from any direction until you get to the school. Once you get there, you most likely have to use an existing door to get in. Then once inside, you may have more halls, corners, levels, etc. Once you get to the classroom, you may be limited to one or two doors to actually enter the room. Interesting analogy.

This relates to tons of things in life. My sister also used the white board and adilas map as visuals to help with her lesson. Good stuff. We then went into the system and played around with specific goals and cause and effects in mind. After that, all of us boys did a session in ColdFusion on the photo gallery for elements of time. This project is ¾ of the way done but has been sitting on the sidelines since 10/10/13. At the end of class we had each person come up to the whiteboard and map out the flow and pages for elements of time. I would say a page and how it was connected and the guys would draw the pages and flow on the board. I thought it was really fun and good way to visually figure out what was there or part of the tool set. 30 miles.

• Emails, giving my dad some files and recording notes in my notebook. It’s been a good day.

AU 1932 Daily Tasks 1/8/2014   • On the phone with my older sister talking about adilas and options for training. I then called my mom to see if she would be interested in helping with training and consulting.
• An intern came over. He is working on projects and I was doing emails. We chatted about having a company that uses adilas and is a real life training ground for people who want to use adilas. We staff it with adilas power users and then help train new and upcoming clients and reps. It could be a fun idea.
• Went in to town to meet with a contact. I took the interns with me to the demo. We chatted, had a bit to eat, and then did a couple hour demo. He had some great questions and we showed him a number of cool things like digital timecards, invoices, quotes, parts, eCommerce, and light elements of time tied to customers. Great visit. He had the biggest interest in the inventory tracking and eCommerce pieces. 30 miles.

• Went in to BATC to talk to the Custom Fit manager about using Bridgerland for some training with the adilas interns. Also talked with the PR representative about getting her a copy of the adilas and BATC interview back in September of 2013.
• Returned a phone call to a rep in Colorado. She had a random duplicate user assignment between users and departments. It was causing problems. I had to go in and void out one of the records to make it go back to normal. I spent some time and added a special check to make sure that the system automatically checks for duplicate user to department assignments and cleans things up where needed.
• Posted new auto clean-up files online. Tested and then recorded notes from the day.
• Working on 2014 Federal Payroll taxes and withholdings.

AU 1945 Daily Tasks 1/23/2014   • Updating corporations on the master corporation list. An intern came over and I was helping him with the payee (vendors and users) photo gallery. We talked about the need to expand the vendor and user sections. We would like to add log files, additional contacts, and even follow-ups.
• On the phone with Steve going over a few things. Talking with the intern about training and education. We can see that there will be more and more needs as we go forward. Prepped a list of basics that we want to teach to our interns.

• Went in to Bridgerland to work with the interns. They started working on customer uploads and I was prepping files for them. On the phone with Steve going over some of the new uploads. Answering tons of emails. Another intern came by and we setup some times to help get him trained. As we go forward we will have more and more need for trained adilas team members. 30 miles.
• Working on the master/universe level for adding and editing corporations or worlds.
• More work on the master corporation controller pages.

AU 2009 Daily Tasks 2/6/2014   • Customer upload for a client in the Chicago area. Emails and light tech support. Did two vendor uploads and invoiced client. More emails.
• Went in to Bridgerland to work with an intern on his code for new gateways. We set up dual screens and monitors and I was checking code on one side and he was reading code on the other side. We went through code for USAePay, Merchant One, Maxx Merchants, CHARGE Anywhere, and also spent some time looking at Authorize.net code. Their code is a little tricky just because it has so many variables. Another intern was there all day as well. Great work session. 30 miles.
• Prep work for a customer upload for a client. Migrating from spreadsheet to temporary databases.
• Working on the migration file for a client. The upload has thousands of records, flex grid, additional contacts, etc.

AU 2014 Daily Tasks 2/12/2014   • Recording notes and ideas on and in the new API backbone pages. Basically a to-do list for our API stuff.
• Working on a general API validation function to help with inline validation of dates, numbers, and strings or text values. Worked on the test page to help with a mini object builder page.
• Went in to Bridgerland to work with the interns. Spent the first hour working with an intern on the new adilas API and where it is headed. 30 miles.
• Working with the other intern on launching the code for the content server. Going through page by page and signing off on code.
• Paying bills, writing checks, and doing email stuff.

AU 2015 Daily Tasks 2/13/2014   • Phone calls, tech support, and emails.
• Went in to Bridgerland to work with an intern on the media and content project. I worked on a mini object builder page to help an intern with the API and web services. Got some customer uploads prepped for the interns. We watched my sister’s first weekly training session on settings and permissions. She went for an hour and really did a great job. I was very impressed. She had done quite a bit of prep in reading, making an outline, a work sheet, and then presenting it. Great job! After lunch, an intern and I had a great session on what a code review or sign-off session was. My favorite part of our session was having both of us up at the whiteboard drawing out processes. We then went into code and did some testing. It was a great session. See other notes for some details. 30 miles.

• Went out to my brother’s house to get some video clips. We also talked about options for employment. My brother owes me some back pay hours. He is going to start working some of those off by taking flyers around and participating in training sessions. We also came up with a deal to set a rough budget per training session as far as cost to do video editing.
• Went back in to Smithfield to get my brother a check and some flyers. I then went to my parent’s house to take my sister some video clips and pick up a power cord for my laptop. I ended up chatting with my mom and dad about adilas for quite a while. Part of what they like about adilas is that we are helping people get skills and giving chances for individual growth. If truth be told, I really get a kick out of helping people. That is fun! 20 miles.
• On the phone with my sister going over her classes that she did today. Good stuff and great start. We also talked about some upcoming projects, options, and vision of where we are going. It sure is fun to dream. We talked quite a bit about some of the future and potential of the elements of time section and how we, adilas, will use that for training, recording, and making assets become available.

AU 2021 Daily Tasks 2/20/2014   • Recording brainstorming notes from a session yesterday on the adilas API and what direction we are headed in. Good stuff!
• Working on a customer upload for a company.
• Did customer uploads for other clients as well.
• Invoicing clients and emails.
• Went in to Bridgerland to work with an intern on the PayPal and First Data payment gateways. We did some checks on authorize.net and lots of work on the PayPal gateway. We are getting close to fully signing off on the code for PayPal. 30 miles.
• Coming up: some customer mapping for labels. This will use the custom document section and then use replace functions to trade real values where specific placeholders are used. The goal is to use the built-in adilas barcode generator label maker in a dynamic way. Anyway, that is the thought.

AU 2025 Daily Tasks 2/25/2014   • Finished up the first round of code for the custom labels. Posted files online and added the first live custom mapping for a client out of Denver. Sent out a few emails to let people know about the new changes.
• Went in to Bridgerland for day one of the February adilas training course. As a note, this even marks the one year mark for holding a three day training course. Kind of fun. Our very first three-day course was back in 2013. In the class, we did an intro into the adilas formula flyer: Results = Mix (Functions, Players, & Concepts). We covered the 12 system players and then talked permissions and settings. We also did a fun “what’s new” section and showed a few of the upcoming pieces and projects. We had both the interns take a couple of minutes and demo some of the new tools and features. We ended the day going over CRM or Customer Relationship Management stuff. Great session and we all had a good time. My brother was able to be to all three days of class. It was fun to have him there in the live class. Normally, he just does the video stuff after the fact. 30 miles.

AU 2026 Daily Tasks 2/26/2014   • Emails to a client about checkout options and possible new settings for checkout procedures. He wants it super speedy but super locked down at the same time.
• Working on cascading stock/units corp-wide settings throughout the site for Steve and some of his projects.
• Emails to Steve about stock/unit settings and the size of the project, or undertaking, for dynamic stock/unit names.

• Went in to Bridgerland for day two of the adilas training course. We spent the entire day working on inventory and sales functions. We played with stock/units, PO’s, parts, items, services, etc. We sold things out using basic searches, advanced add to cart, buttons, and even recipes. As part of the class, we did two different brainstorming sections on stock/units and general inventory items (parts). Great session. 30 miles.
• Changed out the logo for a company.
• Working with the 1099 data overlay that an intern was working on.

AU 2027 Daily Tasks 2/27/2014   • Checking code on the duplicate PO section.
• Went in to Bridgerland for day three of the February training session. We had a great session and the class really helped to steer where we went and what we covered. We talked about cause and effects, mixing, balance sheet, P&L (profit & loss), deposits, expenses, time, flex grid tie-ins, etc. We covered time cards, light payroll, and different uses for different tools. The last half of the day was mostly fielding great questions posed by the users. 30 miles.
• An intern came by Bridgerland and we met for an hour. We talked progress, new projects, etc. We also talked about work schedules and expectations.
• On the phone with Steve touching base and checking up on meetings, functions, and such.

AU 2052 Daily Ideas 3/1/2014   -Adilas flex zone timeline drawing (Sketch of flex zones or virtual waiting rooms, with checkpoints and permissions, and time going in either direction.) (See scan in photo gallery)
-Life has to have some flex zones or small waiting rooms.
-There may be things that are unfinished – that’s okay, they will stay in the flex zones until they are ready. When ready, they may be advanced to the next stage.
-There will be time – just keep going.
-Instead of just one timeline (like the graphic or drawing above), there are multiple time lines working together. Time, itself, has many one-to-many relationships. They all play into the bigger whole but are made up of tiny little individual pieces and parts, kind of interesting.
-We have a client that is looking for EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) pieces and functions. Steve has done a little bit of research and we’ll only start heading in that direction if needed. EDI is basically a way for one or more computers to talk to each other.

Notes from a phone call with Steve on 3/1/14.

- Let our developers build their own clientele. Our reps already do this on their own.
- Our current top three priorities are:
o Package stuff,
o Split Cart functions (interface),
o API (application programming interface) & 3rd party plug-ins.

- Custom documents are a good profit center for adilas. This could include:
o Documents
o EDI – Electronic Data Interchange
o Outside Feeds
o Internal Feeds
o Loyalty Points
o Customer Gift Cards
o Labels
o Barcodes
o RFID
o Reoccurring push/pull actions
- Maybe think about bulking up or beefing up the custom pipes or custom documents area.

- Use the barcode generator (if possible) for some of the custom pieces. If needs be, we could always create a new barcode generator or custom label app if we needed something more robust.
- Packaging and subs of part numbers or subs of item numbers.
- The deeper we get, the more elements of time appear to be connected to everything else in the system.
- Packages and conversions are almost one in the same. One is limited or quantified and the other is open ended or unlimited.
- Should we make a whole new item type??? A mix between a stock/unit and a general part? What about backward compatibility (people wanting to go backwards)???
- Steve kept using the phrase “occurrence of…” or “instance of…” when talking about tracking packages. Virtual usage.
- The naming has to be dynamic… Just like in elements of time.
- Batch, packages, reports
- Maybe store dynamic parameters (actual JSON objects) inside of the subs for time called sub comments. These fields are big, they accept HTML, and they are already a sub of time.

- Maybe use time for packaging and expiration dates as if it was manufacturing. Think both retail and manufacturing of packages, lots, batches, etc.
- On part categories… what if we allowed categories to be stacked inside and/or on top of other categories. Allow it to go as deep as it needs to go.
- If we let simple objects connect to each other and to themselves, how do you go back up the chain? I am talking about showing the relationships. Instead of simple nested part categories… what if it were people connected to other people (say like genealogy). The person exists as a single object, they could then be connected to other people or other objects to create a relationship. The relationship then helps to define how they interact and any dependencies or other independent states that exist. It basically starts forming the story as the objects and data move or interact over time.
- Make the teaching graphics available, to all users, that we use when doing adilas demos and training sessions. Add a muffin tin, add the dream it up, and add a cup and plate model with an underlying platter or bigger tray. Think stacking objects.
- Teach base level core concepts like operations and accounting.
- We are going to need a sales and setup team inside of adilas. Help them sell what we have!
- Our best sales people are involved in the setup process.
- Create a small setup team using existing persons.
- Do weekly demo meeting to help get awareness up.

- On packaging… what about packages of packages or deep one-to-many relationships?
- Packaging may need its own barcode. This could be something simple or it could be cryptic for a main time id, something in the middle, and then a sub of time. Just trying to get ideas.
- On elements of time… We have the “anything” sub – pools and subs. We need to get that ready for use.
- Packages may contain more than one item. Possible mixed items.
- The mother is “time” – then anything that gets applied will be the sub.
- Moving items from a “shelf” to a “package” or subset. Think about moving pieces into other pieces. Basically, it is all mini manufacturing or internal builds.
- Show the usage over time.
- Elements of time… this becomes the master.
- “Any” scheduler – everything needs to be tied to elements of time.
- Push out the developer’s notebook – stake our claim on some of these emerging ideas – do it in a fashion that helps build and share. Remember, “The rising tide raises all boats.” I think the real quote says “ships” but I like boats better. Ships seem so big. Anyway, help raise the tide!
- Work smarter, not harder.
- Allow all or “any” of the pieces inside of adilas to be plugged into time or into an element of time.

- The different report types are:
o Calendar
o Time slot
o Grouped
o Details
o Advanced (pick & choose)
o Subs and stats
o Export to Excel
o Time Line Horizontal (new)
o Time Line Vertical (new)
o Other Formats (new & futuristic)

- What if we used Cold Fusion to dump and display objects inline using a cf dump tag. This may have a place, especially in the API documentation and testing zone.
- We would like to set up a number of adilas training centers. This could be a great business for us and/or other interested parties.
- Prep for a demo meeting.
- Use Bridgerland as our first adilas training center. It is a great fit and is already in use.
- Pass out flyers for the free demo. Maybe pay a team member $10/hour to pass out flyers.
- We are shooting for 50 new clients.
- Do the weekly demos on Thursday night from 6-8pm.
- Use BATC (Bridgerland) or the Business Resource Center for the software demos.
- Maybe show a calendar on the main login page. Have drill-downs to different details, photos, links, and other content.
- Have the same calendar show-up on the adilas training page. Start using elements of time.
- Get adilas university up and live with help files, developer’s notebook, and training and videos.

AU 2924 March 2014 Monthly Recap 3/1/2014   This month adilas started holding weekly demos called “Cloud Software Demo – Challenging and Breaking Traditions”. A robotics teacher participated at one of these demos and helped contribute to a great discussion on how adilas is an assembly line for business data and business processes. From this session, and realizing the customization potential and flexibility behind this full business system application, he helped express some ideas that have been adapted to become a new adilas catch phrase, “Your data, your world, your way!”.

The adilas developers and interns spent a great deal of time working on larger scaled projects such as the media/content server and mapping the adilas API. Extensive amounts of time have been spent planning, writing code, testing, signing off on code, and so forth, as these projects have gone to deeper phases of development. Adilas developers also received a request for their first custom PDF label this month.

The option to assign default expense types per vendor was added this month, as well as the PayPal merchant processing gateway. Other working projects included payroll state tax withholding, photo galleries, increasing the auto increment maximums for invoices and quotes, and more. Adilas also held it's reoccurring, free monthly training event at Bridgerland in Logan, UT.

*We hope you are enjoying the adilas developer's notebook! Please utilize and explore the vast search capabilities of adilas to find more information throughout the developer's notebook. For further questions, or help, please feel free to contact us at: support@adilas.biz.

AU 2045 Daily Tasks 3/5/2014   • Recording notes and working on organizing my notes, pages, and brainstorming papers.
• Went in to Bridgerland. My dad drove me in, so, no miles. I worked with an intern on getting in to payroll withholdings for state tax calcs. We found a small state tax setting error for the state of Colorado. An intern spent some time updating his local database with the correct changes. These changes still need to be pushed up to live servers. I also spent some time with another intern working on the adilas API calls and backend application.
• Working on updating the Colorado state tax settings. Started to build an update page that updates settings in bulk. Decided to have an intern help and get involved in the pages and update process.

AU 2046 Daily Tasks 3/6/2014   • Went in to Bridgerland to work with the interns. I worked with an intern on an update page for state tax calcs. I’m trying to get an intern ready to work on payroll, withholdings, and state tax settings. All of the federal stuff is done for this year but we have lots of state withholdings that need to be done. Towards the end of the day, I worked with the other intern on the PayPal gateway integration and sign-off. Technically the PayPal gateway is ready to go once we launch the files. 30 miles.

• Went over to the Cache Business Resource Center and setup for our first ever weekly public software demo. Our subject was: Cloud Software Demo – Challenging & Breaking Tradition. It started out okay and we were bouncing around talking about business functions and how, we, at adilas, are handling these functions and processes. We covered online expense tracking, web presence and eCommerce, and then some backend office and Accounting functions. My dad was there and had a couple questions and comments. My sister was also there and helping to take notes, comment, and do the GoToMeeting stuff. We had a number of people online and we were doing great. About half way through the demo a guy that works with robotics poked his head in and participated in the discussion. He basically asked questions for the next whole hour of the demo. It was perfect and he asked some great questions and made great comments. It was really fun. See some of the other notes on some of the stuff that he said. Anyway, it was a great session and I really enjoyed it and learned a ton! Good stuff!

AU 2054 Daily Ideas 3/6/2014   Notes from the first adilas demo and from a guy who teaches robotics at Bridgerland.

-For the next demo… I would like to bring a banner, flyers, markers for the board, signs about where we are at, drinks, and all of the adilas toys (scanners, printers, card readers, barcode printers, barcode scanners, digital cameras, etc.)
-World building – what does that mean and to what level are we talking about? How far do we want to take it? How far do you want to take it?
-We offer the tools to make and create your own virtual assemble line. Processes or data points.
-The robotics teacher, during the demo, really caught on to the data and process assembly line concept. He loved the fact that one, it existed, and two, that is was customizable. He thought that we should focus more on that vs. permissions and settings which allow us to do that. In selling terms – you sell the “sizzle” not the “stake”. I loved it!

More notes from the first weekly demo that we did and ideas and notes from the robotics teacher.

-Questions for people… Do you have any custom processes? What are your data points? How many places of entry do you have? Where is your pain?
-We then come back and show how we can fill those needs. We have both custom and flexibility that are ready out of the box.
-“This may be the only system that you need.” – Robotics teacher.
-“Your data, your system, your world, your way.” Great little tag line for adilas – the “any” thing software. Dream it up! We’ll help you wire it up!
-You control the process and your own virtual data assembly line.
-There was a lot of focus on the words “you” and “your” and “yours”. Kind of interesting.

-At the end of the demo the teacher went back to check on his class. After a couple of minutes, he came back while we were taking things down. He basically said, “You need to start selling this thing! It is ready! Put a stamp on it! You’re done!” This was dealing with me not letting it go because it isn’t done yet. I know that I need to get out of the way and let people come in and use our product. I’m trying to get out of the way! I really am!
-Adilas – the “anything” software!

-On training and demos… Help to solve problems, relieve pain and pressure points, help people! The pain could be disconnected systems, multiple points of entry, complicated processes, data tracking needs, bulk management, relationships between pieces and players, etc.
-Explore and expand the social side of the web and customer interactions. This could be log files, follow-ups, elements of time, sub dates and time, sub comments, sub sign-offs, etc. Maybe allow some of these pieces to be used and interacted with from the customer login portal side.
-On the customer web interactions – think about how companies want to interact with their customers. Currently most pieces of the communication train are verbal, email, written, etc. What if you could put everything all together in one place and allow interactions from both internal sources and external sources (customers and end users). That could be really cool!

-What if we allowed some of the adilas CRM (customer relationship management) stuff to have a customer side to it. Meaning, the customer was able to log on and both see and interact with what is going on with their projects and pieces.
-We may need some new settings to allow or deny access. We will also need show/hide options so that we could specify between internal, external, and admin only options.

AU 2051 Daily Tasks 3/13/2014   • Went in to Bridgerland to work with an intern on the media/content project. We worked all morning on the advanced media/content search page and the advanced results page. Adding a “refine your search” option to the page. Another intern came over and brought lunch for the other intern and myself.
After lunch, the other intern and I did a whiteboard session on the flow for the adilas API (application programming interface) calls. The whiteboard really helps to visually display the pieces. Another huge help is to have each person with a marker. If the other person can translate the subject into his/her own language, it really helps the subject to stick.
• An intern and I ended up on the physical upload section for the media content section. 30 miles.

• Went over to the West Campus to do the weekly adilas demo. This is the second weekly demo. We started out with just my sister and myself and an adilas rep online. She had some inventory questions so we started there. We went over PO’s, parts, items, barcodes, and how to track things using the RFID tags and manual packaging options. My mom and my aunt came by and they helped lead the rest of the demo. She had some data tracking questions and we tried to listen and then do some consulting/showing her how to accomplish her goals using adilas. It really helps to have someone with real questions. If we can help them out, it makes our product that much more valuable. We talked about using a mix of tools to get the job done. For my aunt’s job, we ended up going over customers, flex grid, and small elements of time. Great demo and training session. After the session, my sister and I chatted about the future, current development, and goals for where things are headed. I am very grateful for wonderful help from tons of different people. It makes a huge difference. A few of the current helpers are my wife, my sister, my mom and dad, Steve, David, Shari, Craig, the developers, my brothers, and many others. I am also very grateful for tons of help from above. My Heavenly Father hears and answers prayers – time and time again! Very grateful!

AU 2068 Daily Tasks 3/26/2014   • Working on stock/unit corp-wide settings. Posted a number of files online.
• Went in to Bridgerland for day two of the March adilas training. We had a great session and covered lots of potential. We started with timecards and payroll and then elements of time. We then moved on to data relationships (both natural and special), and then expanded those relationships with cause and effect backend accounting functions. We also had a great lunch topic about project management and tracking learning modules. A class participant had some great questions and input. It is fun to see people start connecting the dots and getting it. We used tons and tons of drawings today to connect things together. It was almost like sewing and stitching, adding one piece at a time. My mom was the other star student along with this other class participant. We sold a lot of potential today. This is one of our biggest offerings. 30 miles.
• Emails and tech support. I’ve got a lot of new logos that need to be put up and online. Good stuff.

• Went in to Bridgerland for day three of the March adilas training seminar. We had a great session and all of us learned tons and tons. I got rebuked for apologizing for things that are not done. I’ll try to focus on what is done instead. We covered topics of histories, reports, searching, exporting, business intelligence (BI), web presence, eCommerce, big data, and virtual data portal stuff. One of my favorites was the business intelligence sections. We did quite a bit of class based brainstorming and got some great notes and ideas. Once again, both a friend (class participant) and my mom were the star students. Great session. We also had a wonderful lunch whiteboard session. See elements of time #2007 inside of adilas university site for pictures of the lunch brainstorming session. 30 miles.

AU 2093 Daily Tasks 4/10/2014   • Went in to Bridgerland to work with a developer on the media/content project. We added an API call for the remote uploads. The API call hits the database on the data server and then reports back to the content server. Lots of path and file manipulation stuff.
• Another contact was at Bridgerland as well and we had a couple good sessions with him as well. He is working on a marketing strategy for adilas. We talked about existing clients, their wants, their needs, and also future potential feeder sources. These feeder sources are things like schools, computer stores, merchant processing places, and consultants. These industries could use adilas for themselves plus feed new clients to us. He took some pictures of our whiteboard sessions.

• After lunch, we did an hour long session talking about selling digital content through adilas. This deals with eCommerce, customers, invoices, items, payments, media/content, elements of time, and fully connecting all of the pieces. We did another whiteboard session to talk about the ways to do and track subscription type businesses that have digital content and how to track those things. Good stuff.
• A developer and I ended the day moving uploaded files and content out of the upload folder and into more secure permanent storage areas. This also included changing stored file names to add additional security. Great progress on the media/content pieces. 30 miles.
• Went over to the Cache Business Resource Center for the weekly demo. My brother and his wife came to the demo. We ended up doing the demo on a church scenario with offerings and welfare issues. Interesting demo. Towards the end of the demo my brother and his wife switched to a different mode and started asking us about sales and how to push things forward. My brother is very good at sales but is very busy. It was fun to see his brain switch to a sales mode. He gave me some advice and we spent the last half an hour talking about options and direction. We definitely need to move towards getting these things out there and getting a return on our time and investment. Good demo.

AU 2094 Daily Tasks 4/11/2014   • Emails and follow up.
• Went in to Bridgerland to meet with a gentleman who has been participating in training and helping brainstorm sales and marketing. We did some whiteboard sessions and brainstormed lots of sales and marketing ideas. He has a gift and is very good. He has also done some research and is a natural leader. He is also quite tech savvy. We talked about approaching new clients by addressing their problems or needs. Basically, where is your trouble, or I bet you are having trouble with _______ (fill in the blank if known)? From there, after we address the trouble, we also say, we can do this and this and this as a bonus. We spent quite a bit of time talking about our current model and how it spreads.

We talked about how some of our greatest reps have worked for a company and then branched off on their own. We talked about ways to improve and continue that trend. We also talked about feeder systems and how that helps the project keep going. We talked about investors, flyers, communication, etc. We also spent some time looking at interface options and how we could literally build any dynamic engine and then skin it as needed. We looked at LTF (Learn to Freeride), the old Morning Star Site, MDI (Moore Digital Ideas, the GEO tourism site, and the interactive promo for Bridgerland. All are dynamic template driven engines.

We also talked about changing the model from paying for the product vs. a free product and then paying for the hosting, processing, and storage. Basically, switching from the program to a paid service fee for usage and support of the product. We also spent quite a bit of time talking about byproducts that adilas naturally creates and produces. Great session. 30 miles.
• Went over to a developer’s house to work with him on state tax withholdings. We reworked some Georgia calculations and then started working on Utah withholdings. 10 miles.

Even tested first files on remote live servers. Another intern came to work with the developers and myself. He is working on the adilas User Guide files in HTML. 30 miles.
• Went over the Cache Resource Center to do the weekly demo. My sister and I had a good chat about new developments and direction. We started out the demo by showing some of the new graphics to show the business functions. My brother came to the demo and I showed the two of them some of the new pieces. They both gave some great feedback on graphics and direction. Because my brother was the one there at the demo, we gave him a two hour tour and demo based on what he wanted to see. He also helped us out by giving us tons of good ideas about marketing and selling the product. See notes later on for details and ideas. He is a stud!

AU 2310 Daily Tasks 5/15/2014   • Emails and small tweaks to API pages. I had the bolts too tight. Had to loosen things up a bit. It was blocking our normal transactions.
• On the phone with a contact from Full Circle Interactive Media going over the current pieces for the custom API integration. Good meeting.
• Went in to Bridgerland to work with interns.
• Reviewed notes and did email stuff. Saw a really cool video about the creativity process of Rodney Muller (pro street skater) and how he has refined some of the standard tricks inside of skateboarding. Very inspiring video. I got it from an email from Adobe Creative Cloud.
• After that, I helped a developer out with a small custom project that he is working on for building statements in bulk. Mostly dealing with logic and flow.
• I then worked with another developer for a while. He showed me the wizard-type interface he is working on for a hazmat company. He is using Java script, AJAX, and JQuery stuff. It is looking pretty cool.
• Then after lunch we went through a sign-off process on the web submit to cart page.
• One of the developers took all of the in-line API calls and put them all into functions. This deals with eCommerce and accepting credit card payments. He and I did the same process inside of adilas a couple months ago for the internal shopping cart. This eCommerce piece already existed, it just need to be updated with new code vs. older in-line API calls. Basically, all of the credit cart API calls are encapsulated into smaller functions that can be reused over and over again. That is awesome.
• After working with this developer, I helped out the new intern on an assignment dealing with if statements. We spent quite a bit of time charting and using the whiteboard to get the flow chart down for our assignment. Good stuff. 30 miles.
• Went over to the Cache Business Resource Center for the weekly demo. My sisters were there. We started out with API sockets and connections. We talked a lot about server to server traffic. AU 2311 Daily Tasks 5/16/2014   • Went in to town to meet with a couple of guys from Bridgerland. My dad setup the contacts. The first appointment fell through so I just worked on logos. 30 miles.
• Had a demo with a gentleman at Bridgerland Applied Technology College. My dad set it up and we had a great meeting. We went for 2.5 hours non-stop talking about the 12 business functions that we do. We flipped into multiple corporations and showed data, reports, functionality, etc. He had some great questions and I think we answered most of them – at least for this go around. Towards the end of the demo, the main Information Technology Specialist sat in and asked a few questions. We had a lot of fun and I think that both guys really enjoyed the demo. My dad was there for the entire demo. Today was his birthday and he was willing to spend the whole day with me. That is awesome! Thanks dad!
• Recording notes and rereading some other notes. Went to a local park and updated my notebook.

AU 2334 Daily Ideas 5/16/2014   -My dad – “This cloud software can handle 85-90% of any business. Any need, anywhere, any way you need it!” This is how my dad introduced adilas as he was talking to his friends at Bridgerland. It was fun to watch him work.
-Digital media/content tied to eCommerce. This seems to be a pretty big need out there. I met a guy today that asked about this kind of tie-in. I’ve had a number of other requests for similar type pieces. eCommerce and media/files.
-Function over fashion… That is awesome! At the right time, it will be super fun to add that fun GUI (graphical user interface) level. I’m excited about that! Yee haw!

AU 2315 Daily Tasks 5/22/2014   • Installing drivers and setting up POS (Point of Sale) hardware on my new laptop.
• Went in to Bridgerland to work. Spent quite a bit of time recording notes from yesterday’s conversation with Steve about “sub inventory and cost controls”. I added the word “sub” today. It just felt better to refer to that topic as a sub or a sub of the normal bulk tracking level. I also started to catch the vision a little bit better about how RFID tags and packages or packaging work. Definitely a switch to discrete accounting vs. process accounting. As a note, discrete means separate, distinct, or individual level. 30 miles.
• Recording more notes about where we are headed.
• Added some code to the main create invoice button to stop multi or double clicking. Posted files online. Added new fields to the main customer table for opt in/out for emails and text messages.
• A developer came by and we worked on a couple of quotes for custom API socket access. We used the whiteboards there at Bridgerland to work up the quotes. He was having fun and was really getting in to it. He did really well on the phone talking to the clients. Good stuff.
• The new intern came to Bridgerland to work with me on more training stuff. We worked on arrays and structures. He had fun getting in to cf eclipse as a new code editor for him. We set up some code snippets and he was having fun with the new tool. Great session.
• Went over to the Cache Business Resource Center for the weekly demo session. My sister and I used it as a work session. We talked flow, updates, ideas for training, and I built a small graphic to help show the relationships between PO’s, invoices, items & parts. We then expanded the model to include sub inventory and cost controls. We then went through a number of small scenarios to illustrate the concept and theory. It was a good day for some of the sub inventory and cost control pieces. Lots of breakthroughs and seeing how elements of time needs to play as the bigger wrapper and/or babysitter of both big (macro) and small (micro) levels. Lots of object lessons and scenarios. We had fun going big to small and small to big. Everything made a wrapper of sorts that is based on time.

AU 2320 Daily Tasks 5/28/2014   • Installing the new SSL for the media/content server.

• Went in to Bridgerland for day two of the May adilas training course. We uploaded a number of marketing images and graphics that a class attendee had made (he is also helping with some adilas marketing ideas). See element of time #2268 in the adilas university site. We talked back and forth about the concepts and how to get things (people and objects) to work together. We did some basic accounting work and talked about relationships.

After lunch, we took the interactive map and split it up into different sections. Each person then reported and/or presented on what their part of the map did. It was crazy to see how every section either pulled from or was connected to the other sections. After the map graphic, we then went to the GPS (Global Positioning System) core graphic.

We talked about flow and virtual feeders. We also talked about content or files. We decided that media/content and files were kind of like one of the main 12 player groups but may even be bigger than the player groups. We decided that we need a link to the media/content homepage right from the center or hub of the system. After the GPS core graphic, we used the plates and cups graphic (virtual buckets and how we store data and create objects). We went through a number of scenarios and mapped things out in the bucket model. At the end of the day I worked with a developer on getting him into the API socket model for his first custom project. He got half down as a retaining and startup fee. 30 miles.

AU 2321 Daily Tasks 5/29/2014   • New logo for a company.
• Emails.

• Went in to Bridgerland for day three of the May adilas training. We had a full day work session. To start off with, we had my sister driving the mouse, my mother and the other class participant helping to look for things, and me helping to lead the discussion. We went through four months of balance sheet reconciliation on a play site. We popped in and out between the balance sheet, user-maintained balance sheet items, history homepages, and sub reports and details. Great exercise and lots of learning going on.

After lunch, we went over accounting flow and what feeds each section. We used the interactive map to draw relations and relationships. The last half of the day we went over tracking petty cash, bank transfers, reimbursements, multi-location inventories, transfer invoices, settings, updating inventory accounts, loss and shrinkage, and other high-level inventory options. We had a great time and had great participation from my sister, my mother and the other class participant. Great class!

This class (and the entire 3 days of training) was one of the funnest trainings yet. Most of that was due to the students, the questions, and the interactions. Awesome class!

• Emails and a phone call with my brother about editing training videos. I’m really hoping to get some of the new training videos out to the public to help us spread the word about adilas.

AU 2961 Daily Tasks 12/4/2014   • Working with an intern on logic for his first customer upload. Over its course, we spent about 10 hours on what needs to happen and why. Also had some light tech support calls.
• On the phone with both Steve and an intern going over the entire process of doing a customer data upload. We did a GoToMeeting session. We drew out the process. That included a funnel process from MS Excel, temp database, new table, ColdFusion page, queries, loops, variables, conditional logic and other tweaks to the variables. Then we check the live database and then point the new and clean variables back into tables, rows, and relationships in the live database. We even FTPed (file transfer protocol) the tables up, logged into the remote server, and ran the live update. Great session. After that Steve and I talked about new shopping cart access points and black boxes for custom code. We also talked about integrating with different pieces of software on a user’s machine and then allowing full API connections from the software applications installed on user machines.
• Uploaded the new graphic for the shopping cart black box diagram. I also tweaked an adilas associates’ adilas university logo and put it up online. That was fun to get that graphic up and online.
• Working with my brother on arrays and structures.
• Working on a meeting agenda and printouts for the developer’s meeting.
• Went in to Bridgerland to meet with adilas developers and adilas interns. This was our first meeting of this level and scope. We ended up with 15 people at the meeting. There were only two that I haven’t met before. They were friends of one of the current interns. We had a great group of people at the meeting. We did a two hour session and covered lots of ground. Super awesome meeting and I was humbled by the participation and comments from the group. It was awesome and humbling at the same time. See elements of time #2930 in adilas university for the video web link. We gave out flyers, paperwork, and handed out all of the new jump drives that I had. Great session and good energy. • Emails and recording notes from loose pages.
• Recording notes in my notebook. It is a lot of work to keep caught up. However, I feel so much better when I am caught up and recording things as they happen. In the last two days, I’ve going through a stack of about 20 post-it notes and recorded notes back into my notebook. Normally I try to record directly into my notebook but if I get behind, I record things on loose pages or on post-it notes. I then have to go back through the notes and write things a second time to get them into the real notebook. I know that it takes more time but sometimes the process of writing things over and over again makes it stick better in my head. It is probably a blessing in disguise. Anyway, I’m currently caught up and ready to go! Yee haw!

AU 3615 Daily Ideas 2/25/2015   -I am seeing a bigger and bigger need for round 2 of elements of time. I met with manager of Custom Fit at Bridgerland. He needed a number of pieces that we have planned for round 2. Things like sign-offs, approvals, time cards, reminders, notifications, class rosters, job costing based on time, and being able to assign any person, place, or thing to time. These are all planned pieces, we just need to get a funded project to help push the ball along. We may end up bidding on the BATC Custom Fit project to get that going.
-Another good sub section for time is sub payroll and sub phases. They all relate to time, space, and resources. Good stuff.

• On the phone with Steve catching up on new changes.
• Small logo changes for a company out of Arizona.
• Went in to Bridgerland to work with my guys. I helped an intern get started on copying look-up tables in the solar system. He is doing great. Met with another intern and went over round 2 for eCommerce. We determined that round 2 will include black boxes, JSON object settings, internal API socket calls, templates, new css options, etc. We also determined to add 3 more black boxes. The new ones are… navigations, side bar left, and side bar right. 30 miles.
• Worked with an intern on his mini project for gift cards. We were working on the add process and flow for pages. Another intern and I had a conference call with a consultant about a custom report that one of her clients needed.
• I then spent most of the afternoon working with Dave doing project management stuff. We met with two interns on a custom project for a client. Dave and I then sat down and went over the request for proposal for the Bridgerland Custom Fit database project. We ran some first round numbers and talked through things. Dave is going to be helping more with things as we go forward.

AU 3744 Daily Tasks 3/10/2015   • Uploading files and doing emails.
• Finished up the code for the advanced add to cart page. Uploaded files, tested, and even merged current branch into the master code repository inside of bit bucket. A developer has us working with some version control stuff to help coordinate efforts.
• Went into Bridgerland to work. Did some email stuff and worked with a developer on some sales and consulting items. 30 miles.
• Met with Dave on a client database project and proposal. We both then met with the manager for about 1.5 hours in his office. We took notes and he showed us around. After that, Dave and I met and went over things. We put some prices on paper and worked through the different parts of the proposal.
• Working with a developer on the web/API documentation project. We also work on some printable layout options.
• Conference call with a developer and a client out of California. We are planning a special roll call report that is a one pager. The report is a roll call page and is a cross between a P&L (Profit & Loss) report and a mini balance sheet. Eventually she wants the report to be exportable to feed an outside accounting program with mappings to specific chart of accounts and sub types.
• Working with my brother on graphics and ideas for showing developers tools and functions. We looked at his pages and graphics and sketched out ideas. We also went through the progression of the data assembly line. Lots of sketches and drawings. We also talked about how our vision has grown over the years.
• Working with my brother and a developer on different projects. My brother is doing graphics and the developer is working on the adilas API and getting things ready to release to the public.
• Got a call from a developer. Apparently, another developers and I made some API socket changes that effected this developer’s 3rd party socket settings. So, I went in and made some tweaks to make things work. Made some changes to the web/API documentation process. This allows different access levels to the API sockets. We have normal, 3rd parts, universe, internal, and demo options.

AU 3745 Daily Tasks 3/11/2015   • Went in to Bridgerland to work with my guys. I spent the first session working with a new intern in setting up a new corporation and world for him. We did some light training and I sketched out a few drawings to help with the training. 30 miles.
• Prepping some files for a developer to help with a digital migration process.
• Met with a developer to work on the API changes. We went over where we messed up and plans to fix the API socket pieces.
• An intern came by and he and I chatted about options for training and employment. He started the internship back in January but got busy with school and such.
• After that, a developer’s friend came by. He has a vacant office building here in town. He is also a marketing guy and consultant. Fun meeting.
• The developer and I then worked on some look-up methods and functions. I helped a developer with a training class for two interns. The developer was teaching them how to migrate data from Microsoft Excel into adilas. He did a great job and both the interns got it to work.
• After everybody left, a developer and I stayed around and worked on some new methods to download and transport tables from servers to servers through the API. This will be handy if a person wants to get a table or part of a table from a remote source. We still have to add some security but we got the process started. Busy day today!
• Uploaded files and ran some customer migrations. Paying bills.

AU 3746 Daily Tasks 3/12/2015   • Went in to Bridgerland to work with my guys. Started out the day working with an intern to see how his training is going.
• I then worked with another developer to help restore his local database. Once we got that going we worked on World Building and splitting apart the main database.
• Most of the day was spent with a developer working on looking over code and working together on his new code to copy and transfer full tables between servers using crazy dynamics and API sockets. Pretty intense. The developer came up with the plan. I mostly just helped with debugging and consulting type stuff. 30 miles.
• Reading a letter that my dad wrote to a guy who is very good and GIS and GPS about 3D event tracking and plans to head in that direction. My dad is really excited about the 3D event planning and 3D event tracking stuff.

AU 3750 Daily Tasks 3/17/2015   • Reading over and editing a request for proposal for a client database project. Original proposal was done and written by Dave.
• Went in to Bridgerland to work with my guys. Totaled up hours of instruction for January, February, and March so far… We are over 1,000 man hours working with the interns and new developers. That is awesome!
• I worked with an intern signing off on some code. We lined out the next little part of the World Building project. We booked another month there at Bridgerland to use their facility.
• Another intern came in and we had a great class discussion on application and page setup and frameworks. We filled up the whiteboard and talked lots of concepts. We also determined a couple of other needed black boxes. We decided to get rid of the side bar left and side bar right black boxes. Those are part of the body. The two new ones are head or top part of the HTML and end or bottom part of the HTML. These places allow for css, java script, JQuery, etc.
• Bridgerland was a happening place today. We had guys working on World Building API documentations, graphics, project management, proposals, graphics, and finishing up mini projects.
• I was working with my brother on his projects for his internship. His graphics and web pages are looking good. His project is showing financial flow for simple sales and inventory tracking. He and I also went through a midterm evaluation. He scored very well. He is doing great.

AU 3752 Daily Tasks 3/19/2015   • Big email report about the progress on the adilas API sockets and customer facing API.
• Went in to Bridgerland to work with my guys. I worked with an intern on the API documentation project. We made some small code tweaks and then rolled into the copy and paste process of harvesting code and comments for documentation. I had a fun meeting with a guy out of the Logan area. He is a sales rep and business job coach (consultant). Anyway, we met and chatted about options for using and selling adilas. He is all about simple and being willing to break tradition. We had a great chat. He showed me some cool online apps for smart phones and other devices. We talked about possible 3rd party integration or development of our own apps. We then went up to the whiteboard and had a fun little session. I really enjoyed the meeting.
• Worked with an intern on more world building and data migration. I also met with another intern to go over a request for proposal. This is for the client database job.
• Partway through the day today, a developer and I had to fix some errors and error messages on both data 0 and data 2. Things are definitely getting more complex with multiple servers, test environments, live environments, and multiple developers playing the game. It got a little stressful due to some unknowns and users not being able to access certain pages.
• I worked with a developer on getting up some new code to track and monitor errors and error handling. He wrote the code and I helped debug and guide the shop. Awesome day! I’m so grateful that I have some help to push some of these new projects ahead. 30 miles.
• A developer came over and up from Salt Lake City. We went over some of his code that he wrote for the adilas API sockets. His code is done in ASP.net (Microsoft active server pages or dot net code). We are planning on having a number of code libraries and demo apps to help other developers get started on some custom code. We talked about lots of future options and had a good time. We got him all paid up and I got his new code files. He is a great guy. I’d love to see him be a part of our team as we go down the line.
• Made a couple of late night code changes to help with some reported error messages. It’s been a busy day today. Small tweaks to discount campaign tracking and custom PDF labels.

AU 3756 Daily Tasks 3/24/2015   • Finished up the proposal for the client database project. Sent that off as well as other emails.
• Went into Bridgerland to work. Helped an intern with data drill-downs.
• Worked with another intern on data migration. Talked with another intern about some black box direction.
• On the phone with Steve going over some custom bids. We also talked about a client who wants to mine data. Basically, the client wants to virtually give away accounts (to their clients) and then be able to get at the end data. Interesting angle. Basically, they would payout $4,000 to get their client started. This includes paying for a year of adilas, new computers, and point of sale hardware. They would then have their client sign an agreement that they could pull reports on the data. We don’t know this, but I imagine that they would then sell that data to different parties as market research. Anyway, a random angle. Interesting. 30 miles.
• Went out to Smithfield to work with an intern on migrating data. We did some setup and light consulting with a new client. My sister joined us on the setup. The intern and I combed data and did some other prep work.
• Invoices, emails, and reading an article that was written about Steve, David & I. Steve sent me the link. Fun to see what people say about us.

• Went in to Bridgerland to work. Spent some time with an intern on database World Building stuff. Helped another intern on some data migration stuff. Got another intern started on some code to help save report settings. If we could save some reports per user and per corporation… that would be awesome! 30 miles.
• Conference call with my dad and a guy who specialized in GIS. We talked about apps, services, modems, SMS messages, cell and cellular data packets, and even options for GPS as a service. Great call. My dad and I figured out that GPRS modems were a huge key to the GPS data world. GPRS stand for something like… Global Packet Receiving Model… or something like that. Basically, it is a hub or modem that sends and receives text messages between GPS units, cell phones, and other devices that play in that world. He helped us with some great break-throughs. I was very impressed. See additional notes later on.
• Helping interns on their projects.
• Conference call with a client. My sister, two developers, and I were on the call. Great call and we had some good discussions on different topics. We talked about PayPal, skinning the shopping cart, distributing costs of goods sold, affiliate programs, email and text message blasts, and referral marketing. We briefly talked about site analytics and point systems. We committed to some deadlines and promised a written proposal of work that would be done. Exciting times.
• Worked with an intern on some API socket documentation. I then spent some time with another intern doing customer migration stuff.

AU 3758 Daily Tasks 3/26/2015   • Went in to Bridgerland to meet and work with my guys. I did some prep work and drew a full page diagram that showed the existing eCommerce and shopping cart interface. It was kind of fast and kind of rough but I got it done. As a note, way back, we decided that a just in time map and navigation process would be really cool. Instead of drawing tons and tons of lines all over the place… it would be cool to show progression and options based on scenarios. That would be cool. Sadly, this quick graphic was not like that, but at least it helped.
• Anyway, we had a group meeting and brainstorming session. We had 8 of us there. We drew on the whiteboard and all of the guys participated. Fun meeting. Lots of vision and potential.
• We talked about new changes, deadlines, eCommerce, how eCommerce is so powerful when connected to the whole operations and accounting side of the equation. We talked about black boxes, concepts, shells, skins, web hosting, domains, sub domains, and API socket integration. The guys were pretty in to it and were catching the vision.
• After the meeting, I worked with an intern on data imports and migration. I also worked with one of the interns on saving report settings and another on his copy and paste project to help with documentation. Worked with another intern on World Building and splitting out databases.
• Went over to the Cache Business Resource Center to meet with a gentleman. We chatted and he asked some questions about our product and what we offer. I drew some sketches and we chatted. He then offered us to use the CBRC (Cache Business Resource Center) for things we needed for adilas. He will be a good connection down the road.
• Went back to Bridgerland. Worked with two developers on their new eCommerce pieces. Talking with a developer about future plans and potential. The guys are excited.
• Another developer came over and we worked on Oregon state tax withholdings and tax stuff.
• On the phone with an intern. We did a GoToMeeting session and looked at his database migration code. It looked good. We decided that we needed to add a new field for customer SSN (social security numbers). We also need to encrypt that value for storage.

AU 3778 Daily Tasks 4/2/2015   • Went in to Bridgerland to work. Spent the first little while working with an intern on splitting up main invoice tables and invoice payment tables. This is a mini surgery in the mist of the bigger database split up and World Building project. 30 miles.
• On the phone with interns going over code to add the social security number to customer records. I was at Bridgerland with one of interns and the other was joining us from home because he was sick. We worked on the code to add the new filed and then to encrypt the data for storage.
• Working with an intern on splitting out databases and invoice payments. I worked with another intern on saving report settings into JSON for later use.
• Back on a phone call and GoToMeeting session with the two interns.
• Working on new code to help cascade new fields and changes around the system. As a funny note, part way through the afternoon, the fire alarm went off. We evacuated the building. The college was on Spring Break so hardly anyone was on the campus. So, once outside, me and my interns, my guys, we got a Frisbee and played catch in the parking lot until the fire alarm went off. It was really fun and made everybody in a slap stick and funny mode. Good stuff.

AU 3797 Daily Tasks 4/21/2015   • Went in to Bridgerland. Did a major overview of relations and how adilas uses relationships to basically glue different things together.
• Brainstorming with a developer on adoption process and data glue. The goal was to get him into the vision of how we need to connect things. We talked and drew tons of concepts on the whiteboard. See sketches on next page.
• Working with a developer on splitting out invoice and invoice payments. We started at the create new cart page and reconstructed the invoice auto numbering section to allow the database to do the auto numbering vs. the older manual process.
• Working and talking with a developer about time and time glue. We ended up talking about even deeper topics like application flex grid and connecting any item to any other item. We kept going back to our whiteboard drawing and talking about other possible options. See other notes for techy database ideas and possible column names.
