AU 965 Daily Tasks 11/1/2012   • Going over past notes and research looking for direction for the content server.
• Made a small fix to the PO and invoice line item search page. (We found a problem if a new part needed to be added but the search returned an older longer part number. Basically, the parts search found the newer shorter part number as part of the older longer part number. (With wild cards that are added during the search). The newer code allows for a manual override of sorts for adding a new part number, even though a search result was found. )
• Working on the actual content server. (The goal on this first round is to transfer code (almost as is) to the other server. Once the load is there (remote) we will come back and adjust it some more.
• Setting up basic pages for the content server.

AU 988 Daily Ideas 11/1/2012   -We need the reflexive side of the flex grid and the roll call page. Whit is connected to what and how does it play.
-We need a report that shows activity and summaries (full database): who does what? How many? Values? Where are people doing things per corp as well?
-On database tables – we need to add indexes to the dates. We may also want to convert dates to numeric values (just a thought).
-On time – people really want to see blocks (visual) of time. We are catching all the data, the system needs to be smart enough to show an appointment from 2-4pm (the whole block filled in). The same is true with multi-dates like, all day Monday or Tuesday-Thursday for a conference.

AU 2262 Tech - Working on Flow for the First Round of the Content Server 11/1/2012   Working on flow for the first round of the content server:
-Minimal changes… we are just transferring pages from one to the next…
1. Go to the add/edit page, set the form action to point to the content server. Pass along extra corp and user stuff in the main form page…
2. The only page on the receiving end is the action page that may respond accordingly.
3. Jump back to the main server as quick as possible.
Action page needs:
- Current time zone offset (use timezone_offset)
- Current default corp type (use corp_type)
- Data link path (back to the main adilas.biz server) to both top_secret & to top_secret/secure
o Use Secure Data Server Address (clear to secure)
o Use Main Data Server Address (only to top-secret)
o CSS – multiple css vars
(See scan in photo gallery for 11/1/12)
Vars to pass:

AU 967 Daily Tasks 11/3/2012   • Working on a major rework of the action success messages. (Basically, instead of showing the success messages, do an auto re-route to the page. This will help eliminate a number of clicks and will be more of a “show me – don’t tell me” type approach and less reading.)

AU 968 Daily Tasks 11/5/2012   • Balance sheet tech support and PO line items for a customer.
• Bank items.

AU 989 Daily Ideas 11/5/2012   -“Show me – don’t tell me” – we need a major rework of all the “action” messages and choices. Help the users take the normal decision and just show them their changes instead of prompting for action. This could take away hundreds of clicks.
- After the cart is cleared – go home
- After an add or edit – go to the item
- After something runs – go to the next step
- Etc., etc. Check every action page and shortcut where possible
- After voids – show the items
- After verifies and approvals – show the items

AU 991 Daily Ideas 11/7/2012   -Small not about coding pages – I hate to admit this, but I often take an action that is easy for me to do or code. I wish I always had the user in mind but I know that often, a decision is based on what is easy or convenient for me, not necessarily what is best or what the user wants. I can definitely improve on that.

AU 992 Daily Ideas 11/15/2012   -On my hours – we need an all or pass the department id.
-On credit card payments – we may need a smaller mini credit card payment (only) invoice. Keep it small, simple, standard, and only for the stores records (non-itemized). This may involve a corp-wide setting dealing with credit card payments and a mini-mini version. The idea came from an adilas user.
-Personal settings – people need a default location, a default PO type, a default cart type, a default homepage.
-People need a way to choose and setup their own environment with buttons, links, favorites, etc. Look-n-feel, verbiage, arrangements, sort order, etc. Think of a tool box – they may want a certain setup for different projects. Just like your tool box may be different for wood, metal, home repair, or auto projects (different tools for different jobs). Along with this, even though you have a tool (aka - a permission or setting), you may not want to haul it around. Allow people to pick and choose what they want. If they are missing something, they can either add it or they know where to go get it.
-Use little icons for links. We already have a number of built in icons if we use a mini version of the page itself. That is close to 1,000 icons already built.
-Turn each homepage into a “jump zone” of sorts. Put the normal homepage stuff on a basic search page.

AU 2263 To-Do's 11/16/2012   - Assign pages to corps (custom homepage) (maybe a hidden corp-wide setting that we can copy & paste in to add a graphic for each homepage)
- User permissions – choose from assigned pages
- Interactive map slimmed down
- Take off underline on text links
- Hide all nave links and categorize them (up to 3 columns wide)
- Search for tags (underline)
- Use little icons for nav links
- Turn each homepage into a “jump zone” of sorts - Put the normal homepage stuff on a basic search page
- New my favorites page – prep for coming settings
- Corp chooser interface chooser page – header & footer
- Java Script in the page header to show/hide a div tag
- Make a new future projects page
- On the profile and the chooser page add options to set the user specific settings. Add a chooser option to the bottom of the classic.
- If making the home page dynamic… make sure to add/subtract “/ or the path stuff for root, secure, pdf, custom, folders, make sure it works all the way around
- Add the user settings to the any payee to any corp permission
- Make sure and reset session values if switching corps
- This is somewhat of a mini change… the full mea deal will come later on

AU 993 Daily Ideas 11/21/2012   -On printable PDF’s – we need an option that does a simple black and white version. The color ones look awesome but they don’t print with the dark background. Another option might be to remove the background color from all PDFs no matter what, because that is the part that does not print very well; ended up forcing to a white background.
-On photos – there is a known problem with really small file names. Check for this and reset on rename files as needed. It may not be the length of the file name but may have to do with spaces and other special characters.

AU 994 Daily Ideas 11/24/2012   -On vendor and customer searches – add a button to help add new instead of a link. Replaced the add new links on 11/23/12.
-Include other people – that helps get buy in and creates a sense of ownership. It is okay to share the load, the ownership, the recognition, the possible weaknesses or faults – interesting concept.

AU 995 Daily Ideas 11/28/2012   -On graphical icons – map the menus out and even show the hidden options. If they, the links or buttons, don’t apply still show them. Just gray them out and don’t allow them to be clickable. Once people learn where they are (the links and buttons) they will get used to where they need to look and go. Standardize things.
-Two categories that will be growing in the future are:
1. Personal settings and defaults - Let the user choose and set things up.
2. Admin (hidden) corp-wide settings and defaults – Hidden means we control behind the scenes.
A third is graphical icons and interface options.

AU 996 Daily Ideas 11/29/2012   -Had a great meeting about a gospel youth teaching resource which gave me some great ideas about teaching and about how to help adilas. I love learning for transfer, it really makes it fun and helps things to sink in.
-On videos – keep things simple and concise, stream content and then review (very simple), key points at the end. Minimal readings but still provide it – very simple outline form.
-Help images – help people to learn. It is okay to not have everything done for you, allow the user to learn processes and the natural consequences of their actions. Teach people more, and teach subjects less.
-Focus on individual needs and adapt accordingly.
-Help image ideas and concepts – return and report; the game of golf – goals, flow, rough and traps; objects and data over time; teach people how to fish instead of handing out fish (perfect flow), teach consequences; organize things into cans (Pringle cans), holding tanks for time (accrual concepts), mixing and blending vs. perfect compartments; buddy system and connecting the dots; dynamic vs. static; every penny in and every penny out; peace of mind; tucking things into bed.
Okay to use first person, “I” or “we” – we love it and have fun building and coming up with possible solutions, try-storming. Include pieces of history as needed. Double entry (historically) and how things have changed over the years (1494 Lucas Pacolie). Old school vs. new school; use of technology in tracking and blending and combining; objects in 3D with layers, depth and details running over time.
Show the law of deferring between objects (for example a deposit will defer to an invoice if available – due to the level of information.) Parts (inventory) per location; holes in an ice skating rink; target and level of automation. Exploring a tunnel and only developing and making certain tunnels, lots of options still remain. Multi-level time line and each industry plays on one of the multi-lines – all different but all running through time (multi colored striped table runner). Smoke and mirrors – doing something while giving the appearance of something else. Burning platforms – help change to occur. Balance the human side with the business side.
