It ended up being that one of our developers was not allowing output and was suppressing whitespace. It ended up not using some custom CSS that we had wrapped in cfoutput tags (Adobe ColdFusion stuff), in order to pull in special corp-wide settings, colors, and look-and-feel settings. pushed up new files to all servers.
