Notes:
-New corp-wide settings that are needed for stock/units:
o Stock/Unit – project #, job #, deal #, etc.
o Make – brand, group, main type, category, etc.
o Model – “ “ similar to make – just a level down
o Inventory type – dynamic naming at high levels
o Sub inventory type – dynamic naming at high levels – sub of the inventory types
-Quote from a guy at church. Not sure where he got it from… “The faintest line on paper is sometimes worth more than the brightest memory.” Interesting concept.
-On elements of time… I’d like the sub pools and sub assignments to have all of the functionality of the sub dates and times with the ability to be tied to other pool or assignment pieces. Be able to track different rates, be able to hold hands with multiple pieces at once. Be able to look backwards and have the system tell us what is reserved, committed, scheduled and requested. This needs to be able to do reservations, dispatch, and be tied to payroll and different rates for job costing.
-Stock/units area big player in the system… I wonder what would happen if we mixed stock/units with the flexibility of elements of time. Those two together could be very powerful. The other flexible piece is the flex grid. Imaging what could be possible if you had all three pieces working in conjunction. You have 100+ fields on stock/units. They already have 4 sub sections, may be tied to invoices, can handle internal invoices, outside repairs, adjustments, photos, etc. You then take elements of time that has crazy flexibility, availability to be tied to a calendar and tons of other bolt-on subs. Then add a dash of flex grid to add a custom relationship and/or custom fields to the mix and you could really have some power. Those pieces are some of our biggest possible players by themselves. I can’t even imagine the possibilities if you could easily mix them and blend them and make them play well together. Just brainstorming and dreaming a bit.
-Build on what you have! Great advice!
