Shop 6517 Code review - John - Session Variables 6/1/2020

First code review with John. It went very well. He is working on some new application and new session values. The older snow owl pages used to pull numerous queries to populate the snow owl headers and footers. The new code sets a date/time stamp and watches to see if anything has changed. If not, it skips certain pieces of logic and uses stored values in the session scope vs running a new query for every page. Efficiency stuff.

As part of the code review, we went over some logic, memory locking, dynamic notation, some new custom functions. John did a bunch of refactoring of code to simplify some of the pages. It looks good. I was very impressed. Awesome.

Steve, Dustin, and Danny were on the morning meeting. Eric popped in for a bit but then bailed out. Steve had some questions about loops and doing cross corp mapping on banks for some of his aggregated stuff. Dustin had some questions about large amounts of text and how to help tie-in custom in-line database extensions for invoices. For example: long winded delivery directions or some other long (over 255 characters) string or value. We talked about using the custom_json table as an extension to help with the longer notes for invoices. We went over some of the details and how that would work and/or play through.

After that, Steve and I jumped back on his cross corp bank mapping stuff. Bryan Dayton joined the meeting and we got him squared away with a BioTrack API/integration project.

We will release his new code in stages because it deals with session values and variables looked up from settings.

After the meeting, Steve and I talked about some options. We want to keep pushing things forward. One little phase that Marisa used at the beginning kept coming up... "I can sell this" - meaning the tool had potential and solved people's needs and wants.

Helping Dustin with a Metrc issue - trying to help debug some things. We ended up where Dustin was going to get with Alan for some help.

Wayne, Alan, and I ended up on a multi-hour server and new server debugging project. The submit cart file was failing on a brand new server and we couldn't figure out why. It ended up being a Metrc issue as well, but there was no error handling that pointed us in that direction. We ended up tweaking the page a bit and adding some better error handling so that the rest of the normal processes were able to be completed.

Tons of help from both Wayne and Alan. I was so grateful for their help.

Catching up from a long weekend. Shari O. was on the meeting and needed some login access to some of the newer servers. I showed her how to flip things per server to help with future logins. Steve and I worked and touched base on a number of projects and direction of where things are headed.

After that, Steve and I worked on some of his aggregated banks and cross corp mapping project. We went clear back and talked about the approach and sketched out a plan on paper. We then went into code and started working on things. We had to prep some of his data to help the page work better and be a more accurate test.

Shop 6388 Meet with Alan 6/10/2020

Alan and I met up and chatted about some of his current projects. He reported that he has been doing lots of stuff for Metrc (a state compliance system). We also talked quite a bit about the transitional invoice project. That one deals with a transitional invoice going clear out to time. It used to be just tied to dates, ranges, and in transition windows. Not it goes clear out to hours, minutes, and seconds. We also talked quite a bit about where the reporting and logic needs to go. I got to see a small sample of what it was looking like - to date.

After Alan and I met, Bryan jumped on the meeting. We went over some media/content options and custom code that he is doing for a special employee/vendor/guest temperature scanning interface. The custom interface uses a number of custom flex grid fields, media/content uploads (files), and a custom interface. Lots of talk about flow and logic. We should be able to use a bunch of the existing code and just wire it up differently.

One of the problems resolved itself and was on the bank's end (their stuff). The other issue ended up being an incorrect token for the API connection. Quick fix and then moving onward. Jumped on the GoToMeeting and Steve and Shari O. were on. A new server got spun up and we migrated the old data 2 box to the new server. They were standing by to help with tech support pieces. Most of the things went pretty smooth. Throughout the morning and into the early afternoon, we had a number of different people join us on the meeting. We had Steve, Shari O., Wayne, Alan, Bryan, and myself.

Both Wayne and Alan were brought in to do some of the heavy lifting. Wayne had a really long day. We made a few changes and things calmed down by the afternoon time. Steve and Shari O. were fielding the tech support pieces and then Wayne, Alan, and myself were making the changes that were needed. A great team effort. Good stuff.

While they were working on that. I worked on a bug with showing media/content pieces on PO's with multiple pages. The problem was with the pagination (next page of x number of pages). We got it fixed and pushed up code to all servers.

Russell and I met over a Zoom session and did some testing, scratch files, and code review on session values, application values, and new path variables that are dynamic based on the system (URL address, web settings, test/live configuration, and built-in web server or IIS web server - very dynamic). Good session and we made some great progress.

As a side note, I was doing the coding and Russell was making the suggestions on what to do and/or try. As a part of that, he was using the drawing tools inside of Zoom to put little marks where he was looking and where things needed to go. It really helped and I may end up using those pieces or style in my training with the other developers. Everyday we learn something new.

Shop 6485 Adilas Time 6/15/2020

On the morning meeting with Steve. It was just the two of us for the whole first hour. We were lightly working on small little projects on our own and chatting and talking about different things. Here are a few things that I thought were interesting:

- Contact flow from different individuals inside the adilas family - the adilas village and rolling out the red carpet. Steve had a screenshot where he recorded how many people had interfaced with a certain client in order to fill their needs. Very interesting. It really does take a village.

- We talked about using a certain percentage of monthly revenue and using that to basically pay commissions, loyalty points, and ownership options. We talked about rules and how that gets applied. We don't have all of the details yet, but talking about year worked, hours worked per month, investment monies made, etc. Also, along these same lines, the percentages would be split up into smaller pieces such as tenths of a percent (1/10) vs full percentages right off the bat. It would allow us to spread things around without giving too much control right out of the gates. Still flexible and being talked about.

- The more we help our clients get what they want, it actually helps them become more sticky (in a good way - they like what we do and want to stick around and stick with our product and solutions). A huge benefit of working with adilas is being able to have a say in how they build out their own business processes. That is huge for us.

- Our goal is to... keep on and keep trying to under promise and over deliver

- Two of the biggest players - so far - have been banks (financial intuitions) and CPA (accounting and oversight) firms. Those are both very big players. Without really forcing this... but almost a preset level of compliance and almost forced (or highly recommended) oversight.

- We keep trying to get more and more organized. This same effort is also coming from other sources and it gaining momentum.

- White labels and how that file and folder paths would work for that kind of stuff. Talking about keeping the adilas core in tact and in place while providing alternate paths and file folders for some of the business vertical (industry specific) or white label pieces.

Eric popped in and reported on some of his projects. He left and then came back later on to show all of us a demo of his wholesale cross corp transfer stuff and how that all plays in.

Here are a couple of other topics that kept poking their heads out...

- Custom and hardcoded projects leading into more and more data driven settings - pealing back the layers and making things become more standardized by adding in data driven settings vs strict hardcoding or one-off's.

- We have to keep looking down stream... cause and effects and how that affects things - systems thinking

Shop 6540 push code 6/15/2020

Bryan and I met for awhile. Then we brought in Steve to help us make some decisions. Eventually, we want to get things (inside the system) to allow for what we are calling flex attributes (real in-line database extensions) for each of the 12 main player groups. We really want that, but it is still down the road a bit.

Currently, we are using special flex grid fields and columns to get people going with minimal effort on certain projects. We also talked about single one-off type projects, custom black box code, and moving solutions into a more global or custom code on a bigger scale. Each one has its place and respective challenges. Having said that... there is a huge difference between doing custom code for a single client and taking that code out to a bigger audience and doing it for mass production. Often they have different approaches and can be tricky at times.

Shop 6502 Meeting with Chuck 6/17/2020

This meeting had two main parts or pieces. The first section was with just Chuck and I going over current projects. He is working on some sign-off documents and helper files for other adilas developers. He is really trying to help standardize things and make things happen on that side of the fence. He also showed me some stuff on his and Russell's Jira boards and where they (their little team) are headed. We talked a little bit about Jira (code specific projects) vs Trello boards (more of a general project management tool). Currently Chuck and Russell are leaning more towards the Jira side of things.

We went over some standards on the naming conventions and what the goals are there. Lots of different flavors out there. We are trying to help create our own style within our small development family. Even that can be challenging at times. Lots of cooks in the kitchen.

About half way through, we switched over to WanderWays and Marisa joined us on the GoToMeeting session. Marisa had created a small customer facing reservation tick list document and we went over that (see attached). We talked about reservation alerts and notices, date selection and number of day calculations, searching, selecting, confirming, and doing money stuff (checkout and putting down deposits). We also talked about hidden timers for active carts and other show/hide settings.

Lot of talk about mobile friendly layout and web page flow processes. Both Chuck and Marisa make a great team. I'm there as a sounding board and to add some ideas, but it is mostly them and their ideas and skills. Good stuff.

On a GoToMeeting session with Spencer. He is working on a custom one-pager shopping cart that uses tons of JavaScript, AJAX, and custom CSS. We spent the whole time going over the existing cart flow and looking at how the code is used. Spencer is a master at PHP and we use a server-side language called Adobe ColdFusion. The two server-side languages are different, so this was mostly a show and tell, exploratory type session.

We went pretty deep and even built a small sample code page to show some of the concepts. We did some samples connecting to internal API sockets, different endpoints and validation. Once we were done, I sent Spencer a couple of the pages and some simple instructions to help him get what he needs.

Working with Danny on a manual code merge. For six of the files, the merge was kinda crazy and hard to follow using the merge tools. We ended up looking at things on a more general level and trying to add in the new changes on top of the old code vs trying to merge the old and new code. We went through things and made changes. After that, I pushed up the new code.

Idea from Eric - On the WordPress news and updates - What if we stored the info in application or some other semi-permanent way and then flushed and/or updated the data when the people using it did a push and/or published a new article or entry. That way it would be semi-fixed and would only be updated when it really needs it. Kinda a manual flush rate. Great idea.

Eric joined the morning meeting and had a question about some new custom JavaScript for a corporation id list builder for his cross-corp customer loyalty points. We got it working. This allows a bunch of checkboxes to be selected and the builder just pulls off the corp id number and puts it in a list.

Dustin and Danny were working together and talking about building in smart group button assignments right into the add/edit parts or items page. We chatted about ideas and options and eventually Danny left with some marching orders (new plans for the project).

After that, Dustin and Steve were working on some cart stuff and talking about the constant flow of ideas, needs, wants, and requirements. It seems like it never ends.

Shop 6539 Code review/project management 6/18/2020

Russell and I met over a Zoom meeting. We were merging in a new branch of code from John Peterson and some new snow owl pages. The primary new page was the classic homepage. This one has it's roots back to 2006 and before. One of the first pages that was part of adilas and fully based off of permission. The new page gives the older page a facelift and limits the number of clicks that a user has to make.

Here is a link to a news and updates page for the new classic homepage.

The merge process was somewhat complex and we had a multiple step process to deploy the new code to each server. We had to add some new custom files, new folders, and flush the application variables. We finally got it all pushed up. Along the way we had to make a few tweaks for it to run on the older servers.

At the end of the meeting, Russell was showing me some of his progress that he is making on running reports to breakdown his small teams efforts and time spent on projects. This is all part of trying to get better and better at project management.

Emails and follow-up.

Wayne and Steve were on this morning when I got on. They were talking about servers and code changes. We got into some deep discussions and talks about code, processes, servers, code sign-offs, testing, pushing things live, new code pipelines for automatic deployment, architecture, deployment methods, and implementing automated testing for our code.

We got into changes in our company culture, other needed changes, and seeing the value in doing testing. We are looking at a full paradigm shift. In the long run, our people (clients, users, and internal) will be happier with more structure.

Ended with some talks about other servers that need to be moved and migrated. There are lots of good things going on, just sometime all we focus on are the problems and/or issues. There needs to be a balance.

We did record the meeting. Check the main media/content here in the shop for the following video. wayne_talking_about_testing_and_code_practices.mp4

Met up and talked with Bryan about access and processes for getting data pushed to some of the VPS servers. Some of the older servers allowed for our developers to access the servers directly. Some of the new servers only have limited access to certain key players. That makes it really tough for certain projects and/or even testing using real or live data. There are pros and cons to both approaches, most of our conversation was talking about current processes and flow. A certain level of access is needed in order to keep the ball moving and going.

Talking about cross corp transactions - invoice to PO - there ended up being 6 of us on the meeting.

Cory and Todd were talking about Arizona vs Florida and some of the back history from the different corporations.

Most of the questions were dealing with Arizona and getting their cross corp invoices to PO setup correctly. There was talk of random data, older or inaccurate data, inactive items, checking core pieces (our side and deep code checks), and also allowing for custom black box extensions and options. We ended up with a few to do list items on both the client side and on the adilas side. Cory will be coordinating those pieces. Good meeting and making progress.

Shop 6375 Working with Shannon 6/23/2020

Shannon and I had a good session and talked about where we are going next. We've been working on the presentation gallery for weeks and months now. We are getting close to finishing that up, at least for this round. We determined that we will start planning and preparing for an important project for us called "fracture". This is the next level we want to take adilas to. It included concepts like: 3D building blocks, world building, data assembly lines, beautiful and configurable user interfaces, permissions & settings, and dynamic paring. Super cool stuff.

See the bottom of the attached document for some of our concepting and brainstorming. We want to present the vision of where we are headed. We want to start tapping into the raw potential of what we are doing. The potential of what we are working on is far greater than all of the code and pieces put together to date. The sum of the whole and where that could go... It's good, I want more... Good stuff.

We moved the data 1 server over to a new VPS server. Besides that, I fixed a small bug with the cart payment stuff. We had it formatting things to a two decimal place setting. We forgot that there was a corp-wide setting that allowed the value to be blank for quick and easy filling it out. We made the changes and pushed up the files.

It is looking great.

We talked about being able to bridge employees between corporations and other technical stuff like frontend and backend validation, helping with requirements and virtual guardrails, and other needed enhancements.

Shop 6374 Working with Shannon 6/25/2020

Shannon and I spent the session working and formatting the presentation gallery outline. We also tried to add some new images to help break-up the space as well as a small intro into business world building (towards the bottom of the page). See attached.

Here is some text on world building. Just for fun.

Moving Toward Full World Building

If you cut through all of features and bullet points above (pretend you are looking at all of the presentation gallery outline stuff) the end goal and idea is for you to be able to solve any of your business needs. A good portion of what we offer and peddle are hope, vision, potential, and making your dreams become reality.

This is why we are trying to introduce world building. The concepts of 3D World Building or Business World Building have been in the works for years. Adilas didn't start out with world building as the main goal. It kind of evolved from just taking one step after another, trying to solve our own business needs.

The goal is not just the operations, accounting, or the data. The goal becomes capturing the story with all of the details and interactions. It is the story that brings the dates, times, numbers, locations, and groups together.

Mixing all of the pieces together gives the values (data) or players (characters - pretend like it is a game) life or almost a personality. For example: Say all you know is we have $5,000 on 25th of October. That doesn't mean that much if that is all you get. But if you knew that the $5,000 on the 25th of October came from 20 different invoices at a single location that were collected and then deposited by John. That helps tell the story. Say you also had all of the underlying details of what each invoice was holding, what each customer bought or purchased, how much money was paid and how much was still owed... You could see inventory levels, notes, histories, trends, states, statuses, and other important details. Now you are getting a story. That is the goal!

Adi 1816 Elavon Payment Solution 6/25/2020

As of 4/12/21: 4338.45 + 1000 from Brandon?

paid 2600 +1500= $4100 so far. Will need to bill again by the end

10/27/2020: Bryan needs to spend no more than 2 hours looking into this project. Dig around and make sure this is correct. Make a scratch file- does this work? If so, then Bryan will meet with Brandon to move forward. *May need hardware to complete.

10/19/20: $200 spent by Bryan. $300 by Alan. $200 by Cory= $700 total (on the wrong project)

9/24/2020: New merchant processing. Starting piece and database piece.

***Please make sure you look at their documentation. You should start with a blank scratch page so you can build this thing to connect to the gateway. This is the first milestone. Please get sign off with Brandon before moving on with the project. If you have any questions, please get with Brandon before starting.

Merchant types is the name of the table.

Name it, create a path, where do we go to get their gateway? This usually holds some sort of url path they provide in their documentation.

Database update needs to be done for this script.

Did a similar one here: update_20140311.cfm (this was for paypal)

Not running like 3rd party solution. Run it like a normal merchant processor.

The next portion is the admin portion- called merchant account settings. Here is url where this starts:

https://data0.adilas.biz/top_secret/secure/merchant_home.cfm - where it starts or we do a new assignments

The next page requires a password to get into (you may have been here before):

https://data0.adilas.biz/top_secret/secure/add_edit_merchant_accounts.cfm?mode=add&id=new&corp=0&name=new - requires a password

Text Brandon if you need it.

https://data0.adilas.biz/top_secret/help.cfm?id=347&pwd=merchant - need to update this help file so admin users know how to proceed.

Then you need to test. You will need to change the parameters:

https://data0.adilas.biz/top_secret/secure/test_merchant_settings.cfm?id=67&corp=263&name=000%20Office - this is the account setup and test page... basically a quick ping. This link comes off of the merchant_home.cfm page

Wayne, Steve, and Cory were able to talk about how code flow and processes do and will affect project management. Wayne was leading the discussion and mostly interacting with Cory and Steve. Lots of talk about testing, project branches, and other project management type decisions.

There was also some talk about using bit bucket issues and/or Jira issues to track bugs and small tweaks that were needed. This is another small piece of project management to help with bugs, issues, and things that aren't really full projects (smaller changes that are needed).

Shop 6576 New Project #1621-Adding Media content-Gallery-Docs to Subs 6/29/2020

Bryan, Wayne, and I started out together. We are working on some new code branch processes and procedures. Trying to get things more standardized. As we went along, Bryan and I had to go back into the correct project and work on some project management and planning before we could really get Wayne involved. Wayne ended up leaving Bryan and I do the planning. Wayne was hoping to see a list of requirements and then he was going to work on some automated testing pieces.

We spent the rest of the time recording small videos (Bryan has those) and documenting parts of our plan for this project. The project involves being able to apply media/content to sub inventory packages. Currently, we can add media/content (files) to all 12 of the main players. This is the first time that we need to look at adding media/content to subs or child inventory packages.

Bryan was video recording our conversations and then we would take some notes and document things. Nice little process.

Also, let him know I am beginning testing on server 0. On Corp TREE. Then I will move to the CC server once I have proof of concept for leafly.

Shop 6449 Projects 6/30/2020

Met up with Danny to go over some of his new code for assigning smart group buttons (tiered pricing rules and assignments) when adding or editing a parent part/item. It's looking good and coming along. Danny and Steve have been working on this project to help Danny with his skills and tasks. As part of our review, we had to get pretty deep into some logic, tables, sub tables, rows, and columns stuff. Most of the logic is in place, we just need to make some surface type changes.

Shop 6572 Code Sign Off 6/30/2020

The original goal was to do code sign off for transition invoice project and the restore to cart project. Alan and I met and checked in. He is pretty deep into balance sheet logic and making things match up. I'm so grateful to have someone else looking over that code. Good stuff.

Bryan had a question, so we jumped on and tried to figure it out. He is going to look deeper and then bring it back up. It was dealing with parent attributes out in ecommerce and custom tiered pricing based on the parent item attributes and selections.

Towards the end, I spent the rest of the time recording notes and checking emails.
