AU 2365 | Brainstorming - The Flex Grid Tie-In | 5/28/2009 |
- Ideas for the “flex grid tie-in” – 10 x 10 (x 10) - The word “flex grid” means that it is a dynamic user-maintained additional link and/or relationship. “Flex” is the 1-many part, “Grid” is the organized part. Basically, it is a multi-tie-in from any item to any other item(s) or as a standalone 1-many from a single main item. - The 10 x 10 part deals with two different things. The first 10 deals with the Major players in the adilas system. 1. Deposits 2. Invoices 3. PO’s or Purchas Orders 4. Expense/Receipts 5. Balance Sheet Items 6. Stock Units 7. Part Id or Parts 8. Customer 9. Vendor 10. Employee/User - Maybe it should be a 10 x 10 x 10 grid or cube - The next 10 deals with possible fields to hold extra data and values. In the background we will keep the field names very basic. We will also allow the corporations to create their own naming conventions for the field names or titles. Basically, each of the 10 major players will have 10 custom fields to hold data in. Of those 10 data fields, they can each be named something completely different. All in all, we are allowing 100 custom fields, 10 per each main player, each with a custom name. - Each record will also have notes, a date, an amount, history fields and flags, date/time stamp, who created it, and a tie-in to the main. A couple of other options might be status, show/hide, admin only, printable/non-printable, etc. Also what type of relationship is it and location. - Along with the flex grid itself, I really want all of the other links and relationships to show up when a single item is selected. Basically, who is my brother, sister, parent, child, and who am I holding hands with. This is like duct-tape and bailing twine for all of the application pieces. |
|||

AU 2366 | Tech - Planning for the Flex Grid Tie-In Tables | 5/29/2009 |
Planning for flex grid tie-in tables. (Please see scans in photo gallery) Flex Grid Tie-Ins: 1. If the flex grid exists on the top of everything, how do I get to it? How do I search it? - Need a flex grid homepage with links to manage dynamic naming and field titles (admin) - Need a two-part flex grid search i. Choose the app type ii. Query the database and show dynamic fields for that type. Show the main search form. 2. If we allow a quick search of the flex grid, what would that take (a 10-way like search)? Also, if we found more than one section (results), how would we show that and maintain the dynamic title values. - I guess we could do 10 different searches (queries for each main app type) and then loop over the app types and check for a positive record count 3. When adding a new flex grid – we either need to be on the main object (pass the id and type through the URL) or select what main object to tie it to (select app type & main id). - Once we have the main, pull in some general info so that the user can make sure that the correct main item was selected. - Query the database and dynamically populate the other (dynamic titles) fields. 4. When showing assigned flex grid items, show other relations first (already in the system) and then the flex grid. I would also like the ability to show just the flex grid items. It may also be nice if we could select which flex grid items to show on a standalone report. Be able to save as a pdf. 5. It would be nice if we could use a single page for add and edit modes. It would also be nice to show details for all 10 main items on the same page. |
