Danny, Sean, Steve, John, Dustin, and I were on the meeting this morning. Steve, John, and Danny were going over SEO (search engine optimization) stuff when I joined. We are going to put Danny in charge of that and let him run with it. I helped Steve with a small code fix. We then pushed up code to all servers (database update and spelling change).

Steve and Sean were talking about the accounting side of the equation and how cool of a piece that is... once someone catches the vision, they can really go and start seeing the whole picture and seeing the vision come full circle. That is exciting. As a side note, Steve and I are getting better at delegating tasks and responsibilities.

Steve and I were talking about seeing people catch that vision and then being willing to help push the ball forward. It is very fun to watch that process happen. We also talked about using internal teams to help these clients get onboard. along with that, we are more willing to spend monies to get clients onboard and going. Once they are going, we can take good care of them (internally) and service their needs.

Emails, paying bills, and recording notes.

Quote from Julie Thayne (friend) from the other day - "If you can't do what you do... do what you can." On a funny note, she said that Bon Jovi (rock singer) had a song about that. I just liked the saying. I did go and listen to the song and liked the lyrics - we bend but don't break, we do what we can. The whole song is about how we, as a people, are dealing with viruses, pandemics, change, etc.

Working on more summaries with Shannon. We went over a few more questions. The two for today were - where would you like to focus and what are your thoughts on the look and feel and UI (user interface) for adilas? See attached for our progress. These are the summaries for the internal questionnaire for the adilas trust.

On a side note, Danny asked about Russell and what kind of involvement he may want to play. Russell has been a major contributor as far as current look and feel (snow owl theme) as well as the one who designed the current main adilas.biz web site. We would love his help, he is just busy with school right now.

Meeting with Chuck over GoToMeeting. We chatted about different projects and made some small tweaks to the firearm registration form (tied in the uploaded receipts to the correct gun registration). We talked about WordPress stuff and upcoming projects that may be dealing with WordPress connections and options. He is going to reach out to Wayne and make sure that all of the adilas WordPress stuff (news and updates) is fully working and functioning. Chuck also needed a quick refresher on doing a reimbursement for a service that he did for us (image optimization through an outside 3rd party tool). Good meeting.

Chuck and Wayne were working on some of the new changes for the WordPress news and updates. We built a new server and were trying to get things pointed there and correctly displaying on our news and updates pages. Through a series of phone calls and emails, I ended up spending a couple of hours working on the project. Wayne had a super long day and Chuck wasn't completely sure what needed to be done. Anyways, lots of tweaks and testing. Prepped a number of files on the WordPress - news and updates branch.

Shop 7197 WordPress and news and updates 12/3/2020

Wayne and I started working on the WordPress stuff and getting the adilas news and updates section tested and deployed. All was going well and we pushed up some new code. For about half an hour, no problems... all of the sudden, we had alarms going off right and left. We had flooded the new WordPress server and it was totally maxed out. We quickly tried to remove the WordPress API socket connections to restore our servers. We don't know if it was just our own traffic or if it was under attack, but we buried that poor server. We got things recovered as quickly as possible. We are going to build in some better error handling and enforce better timeouts and number of attempts. Crazy stuff.

On a totally different note, while everything was going good and smooth... Wayne was showing Steve and others some of the home automation and fun things that he (Wayne) does when he is not working for adilas. Some really fun stuff.

As part of Wayne's demo and virtual show and tell, they were talking about 3D layouts, gaming, 3D printers, house plans, electrical circuits, etc. As they were talking, I was having this fun vision of using adilas to virtually layout and organize a business... just like a 3D layout program or a circuit schematic, what if you could layout out your business or business flow in such a fun visual manner... this talks to this, that flows over to that, these processes get done here, and these things get connected with these other things (very general but image real instruction and flow processes). I think it would be so cool if eventually, you could virtually setup a business to help map, layout, and illustrate the full flow of data and processes. It would be so cool to virtually watch as each piece of data went through the process. You could see the data, you could tweak and change it, you could correct it, you could approve it, you could allow it to move on, recycle, add options, or whatever. Think how cool that would be... almost a 3D virtual game (data assembly line) for the game of business.

That concept of a virtual game type layout and interface may be fun and could be part of the fracture project (future version of adilas). Build your own mock-up, build your own interface, custom configure just what you want and need, tailored to your business. See above.

Working on the Flash conversion project with Spencer. We are making progress. He keeps fixing all of the bugs that I find and point out. We were testing doing prints, scans, mock-ups, and comparing with live documents (checks and labels). We have a few more tweaks, but it is coming along great. One of the biggest problems right now is being able to print the labels on the actual label printer. If we print using a laser or ink jet printer, it looks and reads great. On the actual label printer, it comes out really small and feeds two labels at once. We'll get it figured out. Other than that, I would give it an awesome grade. I've been impressed.

When I joined at 9 am, the guys were talking about industry specific marketing and research. Mixing Danny, Sean, John M, and Steve together has been fun to see. Each has some unique attributes that mix well together (small project team). I'm excited to see what they come up with.

On a different note, Steve is going to work with John to get him going on a round 2 version of the icon menus and more options. Russell launched a new version on the new classic homepage. Steve wants John to do similar stuff on a number of pages. Instead of using screenshots for the icons (current visual) they will be using newer more modern icons such as fontawesome icons and other web specific icons. It makes it feel more modern. John will be working with Dustin and Chuck to coordinate the icon list and what each one does and/or represents. There could be tons and tons of new icons added to the mix.

Looking over some code with Steve on one of his projects. Alan popped in and gave us a small update on some of his projects.

Shop 7163 Steve, Cory, Brandon-Catch up on projects and updates 12/7/2020

We spent an hour bouncing through projects - updates, discussing, detailing, and quoting projects. Cory had a list of questions and places she needed help and we basically just went through her list... On some of them she would direct questions to Steve or myself and then the others would chime in. This wasn't deep project stuff, but lots and lots of surface level things and getting organized on this newest batch of projects. It is never ending.

Cory is good at cutting through the fat and getting to the heart of the matter. She is also good at doing follow-up and not letting small pieces fall by the wayside. Another great attribute is she tends to help us quote things at a better level. Some times Steve and I quote things as if it was just us doing the projects. However, now we have Steve and I's time, Cory's time, the actual developer's time, and then back again to us for sign-off and to finish things up. It just takes more than it used to but we also don't have just one person pegged and going full tilt all day long. We are able to spread out the work load.

Shop 7198 Meeting with Wayne about servers 12/8/2020

There were 5 of us on the meeting. We had Wayne, Alan, Steve, John M, and myself. Wayne started out and we moved through a bunch of topics dealing with serves and where we are headed and what is needed. Great meeting. Here are some of my notes.

- Most of the servers have been moved over to Hostek.

- The servers are being more stable.

- We are still having problems with 3rd party solutions.

- Our internal API socket connections have slowed down - we ended up pushing some of that back on the outside clients.

- We have moved the WordPress stuff on to its own server.

- Data 0 is working much better and being more stable.

- Wayne and the guys (John and Danny) are working on some database projects.

- We are getting close to being able to cluster those servers. Currently, we are somewhat of a 1-1 server/database setup. We would like to get into clustering of those servers.

- We are getting good read and good data back on servers and database usage using Fusion Reactor.

- The bigger clients will get what they want and our smaller servers will be able to be consolidated.

- Data 2 (new data 20) seems really busy on the database queries and requests. There are also some other servers that get hit really hard.

- From Wayne, reward points seem to be a bigger lift. We have to look up so many records.

- Cloud Flare has a hard 100 second page load limit. We still have a few pages that are big pigs. We are looking into some long running report handoffs and finishing the process behind the scenes and then either emailing it or making a new link available. Dealing with Cloud Flare, we have been happy with a ton of bad traffic that is being blocked.

- Maybe getting into threads (Alan and Wayne looking into things)

- Wayne was showing us some server stats. Lots of traffic and requests.

- We have been renaming servers and changing their domain names.

- Stats on servers, requests, browsers, pages, operating systems, device types, etc. Great stats.

- Wayne was even reporting on hack attempts and measures that we are taking to either monitor and/or eliminate those attempts. It is great to have Wayne on the servers, watching and helping to smooth things out.

- Talks about databases and having unique datasources on the same servers. This is a future project.

- Talking about internal coding practices, testing, and stomping out bugs.

- Wayne, John, and Danny are working on some big database tables and consolidating those queries and data. Along those lines, they, that team, is going to do some automated testing on the new changes. The goal is to eventually get lots of automated testing in place and ready to go. Wayne was talking about processes that were looking at automated tests, and auto deployment options, if things pass all the tests.

- Introducing bugs by making a change and then that bugs shows up on some other page (what pages affect other pages).

- Talking about bugs... how do we track those, who fixes those, and how we get those bugs assigned to the correct developers? Currently, lots of the bugs are being passed over to Wayne and that's not really fair. What are our options? We need to pick somebody to start and track that process. We are thinking Cory, right now.

- Maybe using bug tracking stuff that already exists on bit bucket (Jira) or we could write our own bug tracking pieces. There are pros and cons to both scenarios.

- We may need a full-time bug person. We have ways of seeing some of those bugs even before they get really crazy. The biggest problem is who had the time and who's job is it to address those issues? That is a missing piece right now. Some of these bugs relate to our development process and lots of copying and pasting. We are seeing many of the errors show up in logs and such, but no one is actively watching or trying to take care of that.

- We tend to use junior devs (developers) and send them into a page, have them make some changes, and then go from there. It would be awesome to help them know and learn the why.

- We would like to make a standard operating procedure (SOP) for how to deal with bugs. Also, it could be training, operator errors, settings, processes, procedures, etc. We will start getting into this. We had some discussions on some of internal issues that we have. Who will fix it, what data was passed in, how can we duplicate those errors, etc.

- Two possible roles - one who collect and logs the errors. The other is a developer who can get in and get things fixed. Along with bugs, we need to also set priorities for those bugs and those bug fixes. We may need more than just one bug guys. We may need to pick and choose based on the bugs.

- Getting Wayne a mini me helper - how to jump on the servers, interact with Hostek, rebooting servers, resetting services, stopping the auto deploys, etc. We will be starting out with John Maestas as a mini me helper for Wayne.

- Data normalization rules and redoing some of the database tables. On this first round, we will do the minimum levels to get it ready to do clustering. We will normalize where possible.

- On the server side, the database are the weakest link. We would like to get these clustered and backed up even better than they currently are. Wayne and John may be looking into this as we go forward. Currently, both Hostek and Newtek are doing daily back-ups of the data, but sometimes a lot of data passes in just one day. We may need to get a smaller increment for our back-ups.

- Light talks on server caching and calls to the database. Trying to be more efficient. Limiting the number of requests per page.

50 million videos... on YouTube... close to a year and a half of training that we recorded. I'll bet over 100 hours of training that was recorded. We haven't categorized it yet, but here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/user/adilasbiz/videos

Danny, Steve, and John were talking about SEO (search engine optimization), training, and getting the word out there. We have tons of stuff, but no one knows where it is and how to get it. We are looking to change that up as we go forward.

Sean was talking with Steve about reaching out to our clients and getting them all on board and updated to the newest levels. We are really excited to get in there and start taking care of our clients better and better from the inside vs the older outside independent model. Really good stuff. We are trying to mature and develop as a company and as a family unit.

Shop 7177 Working with Shannon 12/10/2020

Great little session on the look and feel and where we are headed. See attached. Also, here is a small copy of the verbage for the summary we did today.

-- from the attached file under a question about the look and feel and user interface.

Summary: When we started Adilas we decided that we wanted to get functionality done first, followed by look and feel. We know it is time to bring that pretty, modern look and feel into play. Some of these aspects are already being approached and more are on the horizon.

We have chosen to let the clients lead with their ideas, suggestions, priorities, and funding. This has directed our development and our growth thus far. We recognize that many people would like us to just spend the money and make everything pretty, but then you still may not make the goal or hit the mark, which is continually changing. We feel it is important to keep following the client's lead and this will still be our main approach.

Having said that, we are definitely planning on extending more services, continuing to evolve and refine the interface, and keep following what is working. This will include getting a master plan in place. Many people have heard us talk about this concept called "fracture" - which is a name for a future project which will be a configurable, dynamic interface that will only turn on whatever pieces you want to see. Fracture will include countless ideas, lessons learned thus far, ways to improve efficiency, and breaking things into smaller modules and pieces. This will include more efficient navigation, dashboards, and user friendly features.

It's beyond the scope of this summary to fully explain here but this will be incredibly powerful to be able to configure Adilas to whatever level of complexity or simplicity you want. This is like an iceberg mountain analogy. You still have the whole mountain but you only expose what you want to see - just the iceberg portion on top. It can make it feel easier, simpler, and more manageable.

The current model is composed of numerous, smaller prototypes that have been linked and wired together. Our eventual goal with fracture is to make all of those prototypes have the same look, feel, and flavor. This will be selecting the best of class from over the years and standardizing it across the platform/system.

Even though we are talking about look and feel, taking a team approach, helps us move forward in every aspect of furthering the application and model. People who work together are able to achieve more and that is how we are trending and changing our operations even further. More good stuff to come.

If you type the word "fracture" into the developer's notebook you will begin to see how big our plans and dreams are for what we want to accomplish when we build to this "fracture" plan.

On a meeting with Steve. Spencer popped in a couple of times to show us some progress on the barcode labels. Steve and I were working on some code for his orders homepage (filling backorders and what not). We talked sales, developers, and other team members. We are really trying to move more into a focus of "supported by team adilas" vs our older pure independent model. Time and season, but things are changing. We are trying to become more of a team and play better internally with our own dependables vs always reaching outside. We started that way, independent model, but we are now seeing that won't work for our current levels. Constantly learning.

Shop 7131 Adilas Time 12/14/2020

The morning started out with a rougher start than usual, even for a Monday. We had two servers that were acting up. It ended up that some of the domain names (older ones) that used to play part of the mix had expired. Some of our clients were still relying on those older domain names to push and transfer them over to the newer domain names (web browser and web traffic stuff). We had to work with tech support (internal) and get them all lined out.

Wayne joined the meeting and we went over some plans and server stuff. Eventually we got into some discussions about extra domain names and what we want to do with that or those things. We also talked briefly about some marketing, SEO (search engine optimization), and billboard sites (other domains that point back to the main adilas.biz site). Good conversations. I wrote down a few to do list items in my other notes.

We would like to setup some meetings with the server guys to make sure that we are all on the same page. We are automating things more and more, but we also need ways of tweaking things manually. If things get too automated, it makes it so that it is harder to fix in some ways. We need to find a balance point. Once again, more needs for balance and refinement. It is hard to nail this stuff down and it keeps changing. That makes for a dynamic and changing landscape.

Server meeting with a bunch of the guys. We had Steve, Wayne, Eric, Alan, John, and myself on the meeting. Later on, we were joined by others as well. There are some of my notes.

- Some of Steve's top 3 for the year was - 1) servers, 2) customer care,  3) look and feel

- On the auto Git updates... we are thinking that once a day may be enough... also doing this off hours.

- Idea  - kill the rej files, do the merge, check again, if rej files exist - do a hard replace

- Wayne and John are working together to cross share knowledge

- Eric - question about a build (manual process) vs an auto merge or auto build process

- Wayne - the more servers we get, the more time consuming and demanding the processes may be - trying to get to the automated testing levels (becoming a given)

- Light talks about file corruption and cascading bad code

- We have very interlinked code that is complex and has multiple usage modes - we really need the testing

- Some of our issues are singular... meaning they happen once or once in a blue moon - in general, most times thing flow pretty well

- There was some talks about different branches, staging servers, testing servers, etc. It still comes down to time and efforts.

- Our model gets even deeper, once you add all of the custom stuff per server

- The Wayne and John (virtual partnership) is going to get a second pair of eyes on the processes. Getting a different perspective.

- We have a Cloud Flare filter and/or blocker. That is good and bad. We are getting timeout issues when certain pages take a long time to load.

- Cory and Shari O. popped in and were talking about client needs and wanting to get to their data, even it it takes a long time.

- Steve was chiming in and talking about clients and their needs and being able to provide the data and services that they want.

- Wayne was talking about other threats that we are facing, including outside threats, hack attempts, and traffic outside of our direct control.

- We can't turn off the security to allow for clients to just have full access to their servers.

- Wayne was proposing that we look at the long running reports and pages and try to fix those pieces. Steve was then talking about how much time and efforts that would take to fix and modify those pages and reports.

- We have some pages that need page specific settings. Currently Cloud Flare (the frontend filter) has server settings but not page level settings for timeouts and such.

- Some of our efforts need to be on optimizing code and reports to make them run faster.

- Talks about security and firewalls.

- Updates on some of the bigger or global projects (big tables and prepping for cluster models). Wayne and Alan were talking about servers, code changes, and getting deployment and testing options.

- Emails and talking about mail servers

- Trying to work more as a team, communications, updates, and helping each other.

Shop 7218 Brandon and Cory deep dive on queue 12/17/2020

Meeting between Cory, Steve, and Brandon. We were going to jump in and do some project management but ended up continuing our conversations about servers, security, customer expectations, and needs. We tried to talk about settings, things being too tight or too loose (security) and how that affects access. We talked about issues with Cloud Flare, problems in our own code, and pains of others. Good meeting, and getting a voice behind some of the hidden pros and cons. We didn't accomplish much other than voicing issues, concerns, expectations, wishes, and dreams. It was good for that.

Meeting between Shannon and Brandon. Small recap of the morning meetings. Some of those topics don't just go away, they also have some emotions and meat (bulk) to them. Here were a couple of things that we talked about.

- Pain of others

- Clients want stability as their top goal

- Reliability and stability go hand in hand

- Stick with what you've got until it doesn't work

- Change when the pain gets too much

- Having a dynamic and rolling perspective as you plan and move forward

Steve was sick, so it was just Cory and I on the meeting. We went through a bunch of questions, catch-up stuff, updates, and projects. After that, we spent the rest of the time doing a deep dive into a project that will be adding salespersons to invoice line item reports. It gets kinda deep and we were trying to line out the developer who will be working on the project. Lots of little hidden things on this one.

The project ties into the advanced invoice line item search and super advanced line item search. I was talking, doing code samples, and pushing things over to Cory. She was trying to catch as much as she could and we were playing a form of tag team on the project management documentation stuff. Making progress.

Adi 1914 Domain name clean-up project 12/21/2020

AS of 12/31/20: $482 billed by BD. Added 4hrs @$100/hour for Brandon.
This is an internal clean-up project that needs some attention.

- Search through all of the old stuff and check for new_and_updates references. This (with the bad spelling on new_and_updates) was the old links to the news and updates section. The newer news and updates section uses a domain name of news.adilas.biz - this part of the clean-up would be searching code pages for "new_and_updates" as well as elements of time on data 0 (in the shop, main adilas, and adilas university) for links or references to the old folder or domain address. All of those older references need to be updated. We may also have to check saved settings on the AFB corp settings table. Basically, anywhere it could have been saved, we need to update the URL to reference news.adilas.biz

- We have also changed a bunch of domain names recently (primary domains and sub domains). We need to search for adilasdata[?].biz (without the square brackets) and replace it with something like data[?].adilas.biz (once again without the square brackets). Any example might be: www.adilasdata3.biz needs to be turned into data3.adilas.biz - This needs to be done on code pages, elements of time, help files, media/content entries, etc. Those old domain names are expiring and won't resolve correctly going forward.

This domain name change over (project listed above) was started by Brandon on 12/21/20. See branch BWM-dataWebFix for a start.

Shop 7151 Projects 12/21/2020

I started working on a new project that helps to update some of the older adilas data domains to the new domain names. For example: going from www.adilasdata3.biz to data3.adilas.biz and so forth. It was on my to do list.

At 2 pm, Cory and Wayne jumped on and we talked about data, usage, and using tools such as Cloud Flare to help with filters, caching, and security stuff. We need to get our priorities set and then focus in on much needed changes. There is no way to accomplish all things at once. We need to focus in, set priorities, and then do smaller sprints to get those pieces done and/or out of the way.

We spent a bunch of time going over server speeds, options, and finding slow pages and slow processes. We'd like to identify and tweak out those pages to be more efficient. As part of this, Wayne was showing Cory features of Cloud Flare and a monitoring program called FusionReactor for Adobe ColdFusion.

This is not done yet, but they (Cory and Wayne) were talking about coming up with protocols and operating procedures for different server scenarios and what not. Good stuff and we definitely need to head in that direction. They were talking about lines of action and who does what. As they got into it, we came back to code analysis and finding what pieces need the most work and/or help to make them work even smoother.

Shop 7158 Meet with Alan 12/23/2020

Touching base with Alan on a number of different projects. We also talked about some upcoming projects that are coming down the pipeline. Sometimes you can tell as things heat up what will be coming in the near future. We know that more cross corp stuff, more aggregated totals, and backend triggers and virtual stored procedure type events are going to need to play out. Sometime we have to prep as best we can, then let things happen and fall into place, and then move on. Hopefully, you can anticipate the rough sequence of events and plan accordingly. That's the goal and the hope.

After meeting with Alan, I worked on an older clean-up project to get rid of some code that used to reach out to a much older server and would do what we called web service backups. This was our old way of making a change on one server, and then sending the data to another server to act as a virtual back-up of the key data - not all of it, just things like new users, new corps, new locations, new inventory items, new stock/units, new categories, etc. High-level key data. Anyways, this project was to get rid of that older process. It was added to the system back in 2006-2008 ish. At the time, it did its job. Cleaning it up is a turning of an era...

Serialized inventory and playing with ideas on mini units. Steve, Sean, John, and I were doing some brainstorming. We were drawing, talking, and playing with simple scenarios in Microsoft Excel. See attached for our Excel sheet (small mock up and playing). Parent inventory, sub inventory, and then clear down to what we are calling mini units (serialized subs).

Pushed up some code for Alan. We got a report of a bug on data 7. We looked into it. Small meeting with Wayne on the GoToMeeting session. Paying bills and other random things. Ended up back on the GoToMeeting session with Steve to talk and chat about servers and where we want to go with some of those options and questions. We've made a lot of progress, but there are still some kinks to work out. All part of the game.

Shop 7220 Steve, Cory, Brandon-Catch up on projects and updates 12/28/2020

There were still a few people on the call, but most of this meeting was between Steve, Cory, and Brandon. We went over a number of projects, got some updates, and reports on other projects. We then had a pretty long discussion about 3rd party solutions and them either using the public API sockets or having to have a private 3rd party API socket. There are pros and cons to both. We decided, if they really are a 3rd party, they need to play in the private API sockets so that we can track their requests and activity better. Otherwise, they are just one of the public requests (harder to pin point who or what company is making the calls).

Cory asked for a report on the Flash to HTML conversion project. I reported on that and showed them what I had, as of right now. As the conversation progressed, Steve was talking about a number of industry specific pages and functions that he is working on. Good stuff and I'm glad that he is in there pushing around on things.

The subject switched over to servers and some of the struggles that we are having there. We are working to get things more and more stable, but we keep running into small little things that shake us up. We've made a ton of progress, but it is frustrating because it doesn't seem to get fully fixed. Here are a few of the things that we were talking about:

- We don't seem to fit into a normal out of the box solution - we are a software as a service, but we have tons of custom code, and our setup and flow are very custom. It feels like we don't exactly fit into a certain box.

- As we build, we keep adding on a number of new technologies. That's not bad, but we don't know how all of those pieces play together and where the bottle necks are. It's great if someone else builds the complex pieces and we just use them (like libraries or other outside resources or products). The problem is, if anything goes wrong, you can't always directly fix it. You end up patching or adding other things on top on one an other to get the job done. Too many outside services and dependencies. It creates weaknesses and possible vulnerabilities.

- We've been having issues with Cloud Flare... not that Cloud Flare is the problem, but maybe it's not a good fit for what we have and how we roll. Anyways, quite a few minutes talking about Cloud Flare. Eventually, it comes down to security and efficiency for the IT guys or a more open model but better for the clients (so they think, because they are not as restricted or don't get hard set timeouts). The age old questions... security or customer service... we know that we need a mix, but both parties are screaming at us.

Shop 7233 Brandon and Cory deep dive on #1901 part 3 12/28/2020

Going over a report project in a deeper fashion. We picked up where we left off and worked on a deep dive. I was showing Cory, in code, and even copy and pasting things through chat and she was taking notes. We'll circle back around and refine it later. We've already done this same thing a couple of times on this same project. We are trying to get better at doing the project management and documentation portion of things. Basically, Cory and I are doing a form of tag team project management.

Adi 1915 Fix Schedule Recurring expenses code 12/28/2020

5/13/21: Wayne made some tweaks to the server. I believe it is fixed, but waiting to hear back from the client to confirm.

12/28/2020: Schedule recurring expenses has a bug. It shows that it has failed, but the e/r has been created. It hasn't been paid, but I don't think it is supposed to function that way (not sure). Someone needs to look at the code. You also can't edit it. All you can do is delete it. Old and was never reviewed. Needs some love.

John and I had a great work session on federal payroll taxes today. We were working on a special copy table and update table (in bulk) tool for us to use to get taxes from last year and then update the ones that were needed for this year. Good session. John is going to do some data entry before our next meeting, but the new tool is mostly built (an internal tool for developers).

I got a text from Cory and Dustin and they needed a file merged in and pushed up. We got them all taken care of and good to go.

Quite a few on the meeting this morning. Mostly just checking in. Some of the guys were prepping some demo sites and doing some internal training. Steve was talking about some new angles for possible white labeling. He has a meeting later today with a current clients that wanted to pitch some ideas.

I sent Danny a list of domain names that we current own and also some that we have let go. I want him to help take a look at those and see if he and Marisa want to do anything with them.

As part of my clean-up process, I ended up doing tons of FTP (file transfer protocol - aka uploading and downloading files from a server) to back-up an older server that we are going to be letting go. The server is one of our original servers and was used clear back in the day when it was called the Morning Star System. As I pulled some of the files down, it was a blast from the past. Lots of fun memories. That's where it all began, back in the day (2001-2008). Adilas did come along until mid 2008. Just for fun, I am going to attach a history doc that talks about the process.

Towards the end of the time slot, John was the only other developer on the meeting. I went through and showed him around on some of the old files and website stuff. We sure have learned a ton over the years.

Shop 7243 Server meeting 12/29/2020

Great server meeting with myself, Wayne, John, Cory, and Steve. The goal was to fill in the virtual gaps and make sure that everybody knows what is going on and where we are headed. I think we made some great progress. I emailed the meeting notes to all parties that needed them.

After everybody else left, just Steve and I were on the meeting. We ended up switching from servers into sales and options to use the adilas platform as a whole. We talked about how muck it takes to set things up on an industry level playing field (per business vertical) and how to harness those actions. Either our own actions or the actions of our clients. Steve had a guy approach him today to talk about servicing an industry where the client has already tweaked things good enough, that he feels he could allow us to use his custom code, that he paid for, developed through adilas, to service other adilas clients. They were talking about possible kickbacks to the client for virtually figuring out the process and then helping us to market that process to others in his/her field (business vertical or industry specific flow and code). Interesting twist.

In the past, we have always tried to pitch an idea to a client where they help us build it out and then they sell it. The new angle today, is we build it together, they test and help us perfect it, then we sell it and give them a kickback based on the monthly. We make money by selling it, supporting it, and customizing it... they make money through a profit share or just a commission on the monthly. I think that the main difference is, we have never been willing to say... yes, we'll (internally) support and pitch this thing. It has always been farmed out or pushed over to an outside party.

This client that was talking to Steve has a number of the processes dialed in. They have even done their own videos (SOP's - standard operating procedures) and what not. They are not worried about competition, they see it as an angle to make more money from a different revenue stream. Interesting.

On a different note, we are starting to setup our sales, marketing, and deployment teams. That is huge for us. Also, we are trying to make sure that all of our team members have a buddy or someone else to lean on. That, in and of itself, is huge. With a buddy, you can go much further (in the long run).

At the end, Steve and I ended up in a small report on pulling down the old MSAI or Morning Start Automotive, Inc. site. We had fun doing a throwback and reliving a small blast from the past. Kinda fun. We also made some other plans for the future. Good meeting.

Met up with Steve to go over a few things. He had some questions about doing data imports and how to best help that process. We passed some older files back and forth for vendors, customers, and items. We also got into talking about being able to use CSV files to do uploads vs pushing new records into a temp database and then migrating from the temp database to the live database. We've done tons of both. I sent Steve a number of older sample files for each process.

After that, we got into a further discussion talking about a thing we are calling mini units. This is serialized units underneath of sub inventory. See attached for where we are with some Microsoft Excel mock-ups on database tables and what not. Still playing around and trying to find out where things go and how things work. We enjoy this kind of thing.

At the end, we looked into a small bug fix on the eXpo e-check stuff out in receipt land. We pushed up new code there as well.

Shop 7152 Meeting with Chuck 12/30/2020

Talking with Chuck about project management and best practices. We spent the first half an hour going over good, bad, and ugly project management practices. Things that we've seen, things that we are doing, and things that we would like to do. We took some notes and I ended up kicking out an email to a number of team members to get them thinking about certain things. One of my jobs is to help be the developer's advocate between the different developers, IT/server guys, project managers, and admin persons. A lot of our conversations were based around those pieces.

We talked about setting bounds, limits, expectations, and following procedures and protocols. We also talked about internal communication channels and external or client-side communication channels. Other topics were who is paying for what? Bypassing project managers, good products, good deliverables, and shielding each other from direct lines of fire (say from a client - they need to go though the correct contact vs skipping the project manager and going straight to the developer).

The last half of the meeting was spent prepping all of the files for the project we are calling the adilas docs. Basically, all kinds of internal documents and training for what our procedures are, how to get certain things done, who to contact, how things work, what to do to get paid, code syntax, code naming conventions, expectations, and more. Good stuff. It is close to being ready to launch (in the next couple of days). Exciting! Chuck has been working on this for a couple of months now.

Shop 7156 Meet with Alan 12/30/2020

We checked in on corp-wide settings, new changes, and where some of the other dependent projects are at for that section. Wayne, John, and others are all working on new settings.

We got into some overviews on where Alan is heading with his enterprise vendor list (vendor catalog type stuff). He is doing some super cool things with memory caching, getters, setters, corp models, etc. Some major code changes are coming in the corporation and enterprise level of the application. Alan was showing me a preview of some of those pieces. He also showed me some screenshots of his planning for the object manager code that he is working on. Good stuff. See attached for a couple of screen shots of his planning docs.

Sent out an email to Chuck, Cory, Sean, Steve, and myself about questions on a project that we are all working on. Trying to get expectations under control and in check. Sometimes certain projects just keep rolling along without proper steering... :)
