-We have a need to standardize the shopping cart and how to get items in and out and how to recalculate the cart. We need to move towards function vs linear code and page. Functions add more versatility.
-We also need to add the concept based sign-off principles. I tend to obsess over small details. I think that if we had a procedure in place, it would really help. It would also serve as a good reminder and standard.
-We need to focus on sales and pushing things forward in that direction.

Shop 255 Fed Ex 12/1/2015   Continue work on Fed-ex and paypall pages

Notes: Working with Alan on ecommerce flow & shipping. We ended up getting stuck on the shipping flow. We called Steve & talked with him about getting some funding for moving ecommerce logic from a page oriented flow into functions & method calls. It is funny to see how everything is moving to a separation between logic & data. the older way is to combine the two in a linear flow (page to page). The more modern way (to be more flexible) is having an external library & calling it from any page as needed. Interesting.

Shop 261 working on sales page 12/2/2015   working on sales page

Notes: Started talking with Russell & Bryan about the crazy story of the Safe Harbor project. That lead into a discussion about employees and/or dependables (persons who you could depend on or count on - yet still independents). We talked about ideas, options, & even rasing prices & funding options. We also talked quite a bit about change, goals, & growth. If things change we have to change with it.

After the discussion on dependables, we all talked about different options & where things are going. Nick joined us and listened in on our conversation.

Shop 249 Working with Steve on sub inventory 12/2/2015   On a GoToMeeting session with Steve. We were planning on doing sub inventory but ended up talking about sales, clients, and possible options. Great session & Russell came over to listen in & chime in. Russell is having fun with playing with marketing & sales ideas. Part of our conversation went back to Safe harbor & lessons learned from that. I imagine that we will still keep learning lessons from that project.

6:30-8:30 Emails and tech support. Kinda lightly depressed. Tons to do and it feels like everything falls on me. I'm OK, but definitely feeling some weight.
10:00-6:30 See in order EOTs #261, 249, and 264. I then helped Bryan out with a custom invoice that he haw been working on. It is looking good. He has a black box page with a special button for the custom invoice. Once on the custom invoice, you interact with it, make some choices, and tell it to convert to a PDF on the fly. Pretty creative. I ended the day talking with Russell again about sales and commissions. Russell suggested that we flip the model from a 20% commission to an 80% commission for the first year. That would really make the pie more attractive to sales people. It would also help them hang onto the client and want them to proceed and succeed. Fun brainstorming session. Russell and I were very excited as we were talking about it. 30 miles.
9:15-11:00 I got an email asking about a possible problem with the eCommerce API socket I went and looked around and fixed a number of files that dealt with allowing decimals and such. Small tweaks, but I hope it will help.

Shop 263 working on sales page 12/4/2015   This meeting never happened... Crazy times. I ended up meeting with Bryan for a bit. He was pretty discouraged, he isn't making much money and he just lost some code that he was working on. He ended up taking the rest of the day off. Shop 268 Small fix for Hypur - Working on the discount calcs 12/4/2015   Do the math from the total before discounts not from the total after the first discount. That way you don't double discount things.

Notes: On the phone & on a GoToMeeting session with Hypur. Testing API socket calls & back and forth changes. Long session with multiple attempts. The problem was a rounding error or multiple rounding errors dealing with levels of detail. Anyways, by the end, we had it pretty good or at least to a n acceptable level.

10:00-10:30 Went into Logan to work. Met and talked with Bryan. He was pretty discouraged as he isn't making as much money and some of the projects are taking forever. 8:30-9:00 On the phone with Steve going over plans and what is happening. Crazy times.
10:45-6:15 Went into Logan to work. Help Bryan out with his projects. Had a meeting with both Calvin and Bryan to talk about permissions and who used what features. Basically, how do we advertise features and still control who gets them based on admin (universal level) permission and corporation and user (world level) permissions. Calvin is working on an export for Quick Books and Bryan is finishing up a consolidated report for receivables and payables. Next I worked with Daniel and went over plans for Beaver Mountain Ski School. We wrote an email and updated a quote from them. We are still trying to negotiate prices, features, and such. After that, I worked with Bryan and we added some new permissions to his consolidated receivables and consolidated payable reports. We made changes and pushed files live. Garrett came by and we chatted about some features for sub inventory and getting up some new servers and possibly doing some bidding on servers and setup services for servers. I gave Garrett a check and got him all paid up on his current projects. Next, I worked with Russell on a sales page. We talked about graphics and ended up brainstorming on how to teach and show world building concepts using the GPS core layout graphic. We did a number of pages and went through diagrams for the universe level, the galaxy level, the cluster level, and the world level. Lots of drawing and sketching, and talking about flow and options. I find this stuff exciting. The last part of the day was helping Bryan sign off on code for his custom invoice (Excel format). Lots of code clean-up and testing. Good, but busy day. 30 miles.

Shop 286 Working with Garrett 12/8/2015   Prep for sub inventory.

Notes: Big push on sub inventory with Garrett. We met and worked on different pieces, bug fixes, & cascading new number calculations & tying sub inventory to locations. We followed flow, test, fixed, and did some standardizing of the code. It still needs more work, but it is getting better. We were on a GoToMeeting session with Steve almost the whole time. He was working in Colorado and Garrett and I were working on things here in Utah. We were all doing our own things and then chiming in together as needed. Interesting dynamic. At the end of the day, Garrett and I pushed up some new code, rand updates, and did some testing. After that we went and grabbed a bite to eat. Great session & making progress.

-WE had requests to be able to copy sub inventory templates from one category to another category. As a note, you can already do that by clicking edit and then just changing the category but it is not documented anywhere.
-We really need the sub part category level for both sub inventory and eCommerce.
-We also need to push on things and update help files on lots of new features. We have been so busy, that help files have been lacking and/or non existent. We have need to back on that.

Shop 294 Cross corp BSI Transction 12/11/2015   Passing off project plan

Notes: Met with Will and talked about options. We went over his other cross corp projects and talked about using pieces of those projects. We also went through a couple of scenarios to help make sure that we knew what we were getting in to. That helped both of us get a better picture as well. We also talked a little bit about the application flex grid options. That subject gets a little bit deeper and may not be part of this current project.

Nothing against Will or any other developers, but most of them are looking for the easiest way to get the project done (short term). I tend to focus on the ideal or long term solutions. My stuff takes more work and planning... therefore, sometimes it gets disregarded. Interesting.

Shop 273 Beaver Mountain 12/11/2015   Met at the Logan office for Beaver Mountain. Daniel and I pitched some changes and upgrades to help then with their request to help the ski school. We met with Travis, Debbie, and Kris. They had some questions and we talked to them about different options and recommendations. By the end of the meeting, we got the go ahead to do the $3,500 project to help track the lessons and ski school programs. Daniel and I have spent almost $1,000 in planning on this project already. I think that the planning has really paid off. Good stuff.

When we got back to the Shop, we did some math and looked at some dates. We have until the 15th of January to get things done for Beaver. Prior to that, we may end up getting them setup to run some basic Point Of Sale system for the ticket window and the ski school window.

It is fun to see almost 75-80% of all of their needs are already done and/or just need small tweaks. That is really cool.

Shop 518 Possible loop hole with the shopping cart 12/13/2015   There is a possible loop hole with the shopping cart if a person builds a cart, adds the items, figures out the change due, and then removes the items to start over. No invoices is ever created and no carts are physically cleared. This technically could be done all day long without any trail or history log.

The loop hole was brought to light due to a client saying that they had a full days worth of data that never got recorded. It ended up that the user did even use adilas all day long, but the thought brought to light that there may be loop hole.

9:15-13:30 Tech support calls for Herban Underground. They had me looking for possible sales data that might be missing. I checked numerous times and in multiple places. There is no data (very small amount) that was recorded yesterday. They may have uncovered a loophole dealing with removing line items from the cart. See the log note inside of Adilas under Herban Underground for more info.

Shop 307 Project Layout & Budgeting 12/14/2015   Missed this session as well. That's two strikes in one day. I was busy planning and working with Daniel and Nick sent me an email. Worked with Calvin again from 11:45 am to 12:30 pm. Worked with Calvin to go over options for the payables homepage and how to tie in a check printing queue. We spent some time and worked through existing processes and how to harness the existing pieces, logic, and flow. Good session.

12:30-1:30 Working with Bryan on a new project that locks the shopping cart down. The new feature is a cross between a permission and setting and limits the ability to edit prices in the shopping cart. Bryan and I went through tons of pages and made a list of pages that needed to remain open, small tweaks, and absolute blocks and/or locks on certain pages.
1:30-2:30 Working with Steve on a couple tweaks that he had made on sub inventory. We then merged those in to the master branch and pushed the code live. We also talked a little bit about finances and funding. Steve is pretty excited.
2:30-3:00 Working with Daniel on the Beaver Mountain project. We were running late so we didn't really get into it very far. Quick update and light review of where we were at.
3:00-3:30 Helped Bryan get a permission set for his new no price changes in cart mode project. Other light project help to get him setup and going.
3:30-4:45 Working with Russell on the sales page and finishing up the photo gallery section. We then started working on the key players. The topic changed course as we talked about key player groups (12 main players) and then how the business functions are actually more what people want vs having the 12 main players. Basically, we offer certain business functions and basically use the 12 main player groups as tools to achieve the functionality that they want and need. I'm hoping to help Russell focus more on the business functions vs the tools to get the job done. Good session.
4:45-7:00 Working with Bryan to finish up his price lock down for the shopping cart. We went over pages, added permission checks and did some custom logic. We then merged in files into the master branch and push code up to all servers. This was a good project for Bryan. He was able to get into the project and bust it out in one long day vs weeks and weeks. That is awesome and I imagine that people will use it. Good stuff.

Anyways, part way through the process, we got a call from Hypur & they needed some help testing their API (discount percentage stuff). So, we helped them out for a good half an hour or so. Shop 309 Adilas World 12/16/2015   Nick and I worked on the code the Adilas World project. We gathered up pieces and tweaked a number of different images to make it work. We have 16 different categories right now. We also setup some pages and went through the entire first page. There are going to be 3-5 pages to make this little section work and show what it needs to.

The Adilas World concept is dealing with a virtual market place for different professionals who play with the adilas clients. These are people like developers, designers, graphic guys, CPA's, data entry people, 3rd party solutions, hardware guys, setup, consulting, training, etc. Basically any professional who wants to play and/or who is needed to help support the whole.

At the end of the session, Nick and I went though some next steps that he could work on from home. Great session.

Light brainstorming on how to educate and market the Adilas tool set. The idea is to focus on the business function that we provide. Basically, it all goes back to the Adilas formula 101-Mix (functions, players, concepts) to get Results. That includes the 12 business functions, the 12 main player groups, and the 12 core concepts.

Also maybe round out the buttons to make it look a little bit nicer.

Maybe check for the quantity on the photo buttons.

Notes: Alan came over and we worked on the HTML my cart favorite buttons. We did not do anything with sub inventory due to the branch of code we were on. It was way out of date as compared to the newer code branches. We did however, add the rounded corners, do more detailed sign-off, and we checked the quantity on the photo buttons. Great session. We are planning another 2 hour session to work on the sub inventory section once things get merged into place.

Shop 319 Meet with PMG and Bryan 12/22/2015   Meet with PMG and Bryan about GIS flow and Adilas integration

Notes: Bryan and I met with Scott Pratt to go over ideas and options. Scott brought some planning that he is doing for PMG (weed control stuff). We talked about databases and searching data. We talked about where he is at, what we have to offer, and how we could work together. We ended up doing a small demo and talked a lot of concepts and theory.

I used Russell's photo gallery tonight for the first time for the demo with Scott. That worked out awesome. I loved it. Scott gets data and loves it. We had a good time talking about options and how we could help each other out.

I took away some great ideas on how to get data into the system and then how to pull back the analytics of the data. Basically, there may end up being multiple ways of catching and storing the data. The secret is getting all of the data together in one place and then being able to query and call on the data as needed. Lots of potential.

You can tell that he is looking for a an easy solution. He is sniffing in the right direction, it just hasn't jumped out yet. He is catching the vision and will do great if he can just pick something and then be patient as it materializes. The key will be picking one of his many good ideas and then going for it.

Shop 364 Working with Bryan on breaking up the cart logic 12/30/2015   Working with Bryan on breaking up the shopping cart logic. Currently, all of the logic is on a series of pages. We are trying to break things apart and create functions and methods (library items) to help with code consolidation and reuse. The shopping cart is pretty spread out right now and has all of the logic built out into steps and sub steps. This requires duplicate code on a number of pages. That duplicate code is getting hard to maintain and keep standard. The end goal is dealing with tracking tiered pricing models and tracking things clear through the shopping cart. Most of our time was spent reviewing and going over the outline for making functions and method calls.

We also added some sub status values to the show sub inventory details page. That helps the page only show active line items. We spent the rest of the time playing with how the sub inventory id number and the sub reference number play together to help determine who is the main parent or main package and who is the reference and/or action item. We changed some logic and worked on some verbage.

Shop 522 Admin photo permission 12/30/2015   It sure would be nice if we had an admin photo permission. Currently, if a photo exists, you can change a caption and hide it but you can't replace another users photos. That user can replace their own, but no one can replace other users photos. That could be a problem in certain places.

Shop 523 Remove an invoice payment 12/30/2015   It would be nice if we allowed an invoice payment to be removed. Currently, you are only able to set it to a $0 value. You can't physically remove an invoice payment. This would help so that we could clean things up a bit.

Shop 362 Adilas World 12/30/2015   On a GoToMeeting session with Nick. We worked on formatting pages for the adilas world stuff. We worked both on code and in the database getting pieces to flow through to the different pages. Good session. We spent most of our time on the search results page and the details page.

Shop 367 Email to Lee Hansen of A Touch of Style 12/30/2015   Sent an email to Lee Hansen of a Touch of Style - out of Texas

Lee,
Hello and good evening! I wanted to let you know that we got your email and latest requests. Thanks for checking in. Please see below for two different subjects. One is dealing with resetting your max invoice numbers and the other is a plan for moving forward. Email is sometime hard to convey all of the thoughts and ideas. Please give me a call and we’ll chat in person. 435-881-1536.

Here are some simple steps to update the last invoice number to a value of 1006 as requested.
1. From the classic homepage, click on the manage corp info and permissions option from under the system management section.
2. Once on that page, click the more options… button.
3. Click the link that says “update max or auto increment numbers”
4. Fill out the small form and click submit.

Here is a small help file for you:
https://data0.adilas.biz/top_secret/help.cfm?id=462&pwd=auto

I talked with Shannon on the phone and we talked about a plan to help you as we move forward. We are still somewhat caught in the middle of no-man land. We need to move the model to a paying customer model. Currently, we are paying for training and development but you are not. We need to flip that. We need to reinstate your monthly billing and get caught up on the custom invoice. As of right now, it is costing us money to have you as a client. That’s not really the plan (at least on our part). We don’t mind helping and getting you trained, but we need to flip the model. I hope you understand. Our model is setup to be somewhat of a self-serve model. We’ll allocate a max of 2 more hours of free training to help you get going. After that we need to start charging for training, setup, and consulting. Shannon bills out her time at $35/hour. That is between you and her as to what your needs are.

As far as the new custom invoice requests, we don’t have a problem completing your requests, we just need to talk and get all squared away. We finished up all of your prior requests only to get another 5 items on your tick list. We call that feature creep. It happens in custom code work and development all the time. That’s nothing new for us. Please see attached for the original invoice for the custom code. It was a pretty simple invoice and we feel we have gone way beyond what was originally agreed upon. All of your last requests, see below, are totally possible and may be done but we need to run that through project management and get you a bid. Please see attached for the original invoice.

Currently we have only received $325 for this custom job. As of 10/23/15, we actually ran the remaining amount due to bad debt assuming that nothing was going to happen with this ticket (amount of time it was sitting on the books). In my prior email I stated a number of facts and stats on costs that we have incurred to get this project done. I’m sorry that it has taken so long, this project got caught in somewhat of a transition within the adilas system. The new system uses a series of independent developers and reps to service the accounts. Adilas cannot continue to run the way we were running. All new projects and training requests are subject to billable hours. Each rep and/or consultant charges independently. We, at the adilas shop, charge a $100/hour for custom code work to be done.

As I was writing this email I had a thought… See if you like it… Here is a small deal for you… If you pay the remaining $325 for the custom job. I’ll get Bryan to help us finish up the requests listed below. However, we won’t and can’t go any further without getting paid the remaining amount on the original ticket. We also want to draw the line 100% in the sand. If you don’t want to pay the last $325, that fine and we’ll just go forward. We are calling it done and you have what we have done (currently posted online and fully functional). If you want the rest of the pieces (new requests), we need to get paid. Once we get paid, we’ll roll out your other requests within a week. The finish of this job deals strictly with the requirements listed below. Any new requests will need to be billed out separately and need to go through the project management process. Basically, I’m giving you a small quote of the remaining $325 to finish up all of your new requests.

Anyways, that’s what we’ve got. Take a look at your options and let us know. If you don’t want to play, we’ll call it good and just go forward. All of your custom code has been pushed to live servers. If you do want to play, get a hold of us and we’ll get things going. Thanks Lee and have a great day.

Shop 342 Beaver Mountain 12/31/2015   Daniel and I were on a GoToMeeting session. We worked on the horizontal time slot view. We got the math to work out for showing the correct number of slots, we grouped the records by person and added some colors to the output. We did get stuck on the math and logic for a bit but everything else went great.

Shop 346 Sub Inventory 12/31/2015   Steve and I were on a GoToMeeting session working on sub inventory. We added some verbage and javascript to the mini add line item page. This helps people know what the page will do based on the quantity (positive and negative). We also found a larger error dealing with the status of the line item and the open/closed status of the whole package. We started into fixing it but it got pretty deep. We decided to bail out and tackle it another day.

Shop 361 Adilas World 12/31/2015   Nick came over to my house. We worked on the adilas world project. We did some flex grid work and setup new data points and sections. Most of our time was spent with photos, the gallery page, and new output for the individual records. Good session and making progress.
