AU 2958 Daily Tasks 12/1/2014   • Emails and recording notes.
• Reviewing GoToMeeting Training sessions from last year. Lots of adilas university clips as well as Cold Fusion Training stuff. I had forgotten about that as an asset. Lots of good stuff there, it is just not organized at this point.
• Reviewing video clips and trying to plan how to use them.
• Copying videos and files from different computers.
• Working with an intern on what to do with all of our video footage. Lots of data, not very organized yet.
• Working with an intern on customer data upload process.
• On the phone with my sister talking about client needs for a client and their upcoming eCommerce site. They are looking to play ball pretty quick.
• Working with an intern showing him some of the new video clips and training sessions.
• Working on a letter and memo for the adilas developers training meeting this coming Thursday.
• Went in to town to get a number of 32 GB USB flash drives to put video clips on. These will be for new adilas developers to help them get started with older videos. Got 10 $40 flash drives for $10/per. Christmas sale! 30 miles.
• Writing individual emails to the adilas developers inviting them to a special meeting this Thursday. Trying to get everybody together to set up some expectations and processes. Good stuff!

AU 2983 Daily Ideas 12/1/2014   -Go back through the system defaults and give them a check-up. Get Steve on the phone to help. He does set-ups all the time. For example: Make the part number Discount set to taxable by default.
-A funnel is a great teaching tool. Put in something big and eventually funnel it down to where you need to work…
For example:
- Database
- Tables
- Queries
- Records
- Columns
- Values

-Put up the old ColdFusion training courses from the first round of interns. We also have over 100+ hours of normal adilas training videos that we can pass on. We need to start using that training to help speed up the process to get those guys and gals up to speed as quickly as possible. We have hours and hours of brainstorming, drawing, teaching, and responding to questions. Use all of the GoToMeeting recordings that we have. What an asset.
-Authorize 20 hours of viewing ColdFusion training and/or adilas training videos. Do this for all interns, new developers, and even existing developers. Along with that, require them to return and report on what they are learning. Allow them to skip around at will but have them log the hours and take notes or practice on their own. They need to report back on what they did.
-Here we go! Yee Haw!

AU 2959 Daily Tasks 12/2/2014   • Answering emails.
• Burning DVD copies of files and videos for back-up. Working with an intern to help him on the logic for a customer upload. Going column by column and adding the logic.
• On the phone with Steve and an intern doing a GoToMeeting session. We started out looking at some split cart logic and custom reward points stuff. Steve was coding and the intern and I were following along. We then switched modes and I was coding on in-line discounts and they were helping me. We kind of got lost in the logic and ended up in MS Word and MS Excel doing math. Good session.
• Steve is really excited about putting out Internal 3rd party solutions and then paying monies back to developers as our clients use their internal 3rd party solutions. We spend quite a bit of time talking about customer shopping carts, black boxes, and access points – fully custom skins and options. Super cool!
• Helping my brother get started with ColdFusion training videos. The one from 11/13/13 has a good section on lists, arrays, and structures. Good stuff. Recording notes on what is going on.
• On the phone with my sister going over eCommerce settings. She will be onsite tomorrow with a client from Salt Lake. She was brushing up on setup pieces.
• An intern came over and was working on methods for the web/API documentation project.
• The other intern, my brother, was doing some ColdFusion video training and taking notes. He was having fun. I also got a call from the developer in Salida who wanted to talk about a couple custom projects. We talked about a new CSV file upload system for products and items. We also talked about custom code options for the shopping cart. This includes cart alerts, reward points, custom documents, and custom layout and flow options. Crazy busy afternoon.
• Working with an intern to install Dreamweaver and Flash on a laptop. Started working on new black boxes on the view cart page. These will be mini placeholders for cart alerts, rewards points, marketing, and promotions.
• Burning DVD copies of video and training clips. Recording notes and trying to get organized. Reviewing video clips.

AU 2984 Daily Ideas 12/2/2014   - My brother found a good ColdFusion training clip on the GoToMeeting recordings from 11/13/13. It starts about 35 minutes into the video. It deals with variables, lists, arrays, and structures. Good building blocks.
-A new corp-wide setting might be – what is the default custom homepage per corporation. This would also be cool if we could assign a homepage as we create a new user. Thinking about admin level assignment options.
-A great corp-wide setting (as well as a user setting) might be – what default list of my cart favorite buttons to use? Currently, the user has to choose from a list each time they login.
-Teach at their level! An intern and I were talking about how we trained our first couple interns vs. our second and third sets of interns. We definitely start slower and try to build on core concepts and mini projects vs. big and custom projects right out of the blocks.
-Draw out the possible black boxes (custom code options) for the view cart page. All dotted areas are virtual black boxes.
Sketch in photo gallery scan:
Split Cart & Main Cart:
- Mini black box in the split cart
- Mini black box for cart alerts – top section
- Mini black box for cart alerts and custom code – bottom
- Main cart black box. This allows for custom code to be ran as transparent (no visual) or full cart take over. This is full custom look, feel, flow, colors, graphics, layout, etc. Full on!

-Small note on video clips. I burned 8 DVD’s worth of video clips today. There was over 200+ hours of adilas training and over 50+ hours of ColdFusion training. Man I really want to get that training out to the world. On a side note… I also bought 10 x 32 GB flash drives for just about $10 a piece. 8 DVD’s at 4.7 GB a piece or 1, 32 GB, flash drive. I vote on the flash drive!
-We are going to give all of our developers a new 32 GB flash drive with close to 250 to 300 hours of training on a single mini drive. That’s a ton. I can’t wait to get it all organized and cataloged. That will be awesome!

AU 2929 New custom code black boxes for the view cart page 12/3/2014   On 12/3/14, we added a number of new custom options to the view cart page inside of adilas.biz. The new updates are as follows:

1. The view cart page now has 3 black box options. The black boxes are virtual placeholders where custom code may be added and/or included. The different black boxes are the main (original black box) and two mini options for the top and bottom. The main or top level black box allows for custom logic (code) to be run. It also has the option of allowing a full shopping cart take over. This means that the page allows the developer to 100% take over the look, feel, flow, and process of the shopping cart. Super powerful. The new mini options (top and bottom) will be great for cart alerts, promotions, custom output, etc. See the graphic for details.

2. If a customer is assigned to the cart, the cart will look for assigned documents. These assigned documents are usually custom code that has been built and then assigned to the correct world and/or corporation. These assignments are done internally through an admin section called document management or custom document assignments. If no assignments are found, the button for the paperwork will be disabled. If only a single record (just one custom document assignment) is found, the paperwork button will go directly to the custom page. If multiple custom document assignments are found, the paperwork button will go to the custom paperwork chooser page where the user will be able to select which one they want to use.

AU 2960 Daily Tasks 12/3/2014   • New logo for a client. Posted new logo and colors online.
• Copying video footage to jump dives. Over 250+ hours of training footage per jump drive. That is awesome.
• On the phone with Steve going over new updates and progress. He just got off the phone with a server rep talking about new servers and possible options for custom plans. We also talked about using video in helping to train new developers and new reps. Great resource.
• Reviewing some pieces with an intern that he had watched in the training videos.
• The intern and I were going line by line through a custom data upload document. As a fun exercise, we did a number of small or mini assignments to work on concepts. We even planned on paper before going to the computer.
• Recording notes and burning videos onto jump drives.
• Working on hooks, custom code options, and mini black boxes for cart alerts and promotions. Also had a tech support call on internal invoices for stock/units (transferring inventory from parts to a stock/unit). We also talked about shipping options for eCommerce. A client in Texas is the one wanting the shipping options. They recently started up a motor sports aspect and want to sell part online. I told her that we want to play.
• On the phone with our client that does GPS tracking and with my dad. We did a GoToMeeting session. He showed us around the GPS world. I took 3 pages of notes. See notes on other page for details.
• Working more on the mini black boxes (top & bottom) for the shopping cart.
• Finished up the mini black boxes for the view cart page. Added a look-up for custom code and custom document assignments. This puts a button right on the view cart page to help users get to custom code as quick as possible.
• Email update to Steve and the CO developer about new cart changes.

AU 2930 Meeting Agenda for the Developer's Meeting 12/4/2014   See the upload for the agenda and other handouts. We also posted the entire GoToMeeting video screen capture up online. It is at the following web address:

http://www.adilascontent.biz/videos/adilas_developer_meeting_12_4_14.wmv

As a side note, we spent quite a bit of time commenting on an attached flyer called adilas.biz 101. This flyer has a four quadrant layout that shows what we call the adilas formula. See this help file for more information about the adilas formula and what the pieces are and/or represent.

AU 2961 Daily Tasks 12/4/2014   • Working with an intern on logic for his first customer upload. Over its course, we spent about 10 hours on what needs to happen and why. Also had some light tech support calls.
• On the phone with both Steve and an intern going over the entire process of doing a customer data upload. We did a GoToMeeting session. We drew out the process. That included a funnel process from MS Excel, temp database, new table, ColdFusion page, queries, loops, variables, conditional logic and other tweaks to the variables. Then we check the live database and then point the new and clean variables back into tables, rows, and relationships in the live database. We even FTPed (file transfer protocol) the tables up, logged into the remote server, and ran the live update. Great session. After that Steve and I talked about new shopping cart access points and black boxes for custom code. We also talked about integrating with different pieces of software on a user’s machine and then allowing full API connections from the software applications installed on user machines.
• Uploaded the new graphic for the shopping cart black box diagram. I also tweaked an adilas associates’ adilas university logo and put it up online. That was fun to get that graphic up and online.
• Working with my brother on arrays and structures.
• Working on a meeting agenda and printouts for the developer’s meeting.
• Went in to Bridgerland to meet with adilas developers and adilas interns. This was our first meeting of this level and scope. We ended up with 15 people at the meeting. There were only two that I haven’t met before. They were friends of one of the current interns. We had a great group of people at the meeting. We did a two hour session and covered lots of ground. Super awesome meeting and I was humbled by the participation and comments from the group. It was awesome and humbling at the same time. See elements of time #2930 in adilas university for the video web link. We gave out flyers, paperwork, and handed out all of the new jump drives that I had. Great session and good energy. See this URL for the GoToMeeting screen capture: http://www.adilascontent.biz/videos/adilas_developers_meeting_12_4_14.wmv. 30 miles.

AU 2986 Daily Ideas 12/4/2014   -Keep flagging the trail! My dad and I were hiking this morning and we couldn’t find our war (new trail). The only way that we knew where to go was due to some pink flagging that had been tied to trees and branches along the way. Part of my job is to keep flagging this trail that we are on! Yee haw!
-Invoices drive the process – Steve Berkenkotter
-As things settle… Look into possible software integration through API sockets and gateways. Software can and is very powerful. It also interacts better with hardware than the web. Good stuff!
-Keep building towards an open API interface and model.
-Keep heading towards both internal custom code options and external custom code options. Make it consumable. Build a full on, open, business platform.
-Copy the video files. Send them around. Get more jump drives…

AU 2962 Daily Tasks 12/5/2014   • I had a hard time sleeping last night… I was so excited about the developer’s meeting. Anyway, I was working on emails and helping an intern with a new data upload of 50,000 patients (customers). Phone calls and other tech support stuff. See other notes.
• On the phone with a web person from Texas talking about how to get some URL links for her web inventory. It is totally possible, but you do need to know what you are doing. Once I showed her, she got it pretty fast. See other notes.
• Cleaning up my email inbox. Recording notes on loose pages and post-it notes. Did two new logos for clients. Other phone calls and emails.

AU 2987 Daily Ideas 12/5/2014   -Get a packet together that we used at the developer’s meeting. I’ve had a couple request for those files to pass out to other persons.
-On FTP servers… shut down main access and create new ready only accounts or limited accounts. Control access to production sites.
-Post files and videos online in a certain spot on the content server. Maybe a videos folder or something like that. It might also be nice to have an index, table of contents, and links to all videos. Some of the files are pretty big.
-On sales tax reports… It might be nice to allow a percentage rate to help run cross checks. This may mean a new column that would compare calcs to stored values. Maybe even a green check mark or a yellow caution sign on any mismatches. Anyway, something to help with cross checks.
-We know people want to come in… Let’s get out of the way and let them come in. Custom eCommerce, custom css, custom interfaces, custom placements of pieces, custom colors, custom flow, both adds and subtracts.
-Maybe use custom page settings to hold all of these new values. Basically, we can use the page settings and store the values in a JSON object with minimal effort. Very flexible. As long as we don’t need to search the settings, they could be done through page level settings vs. traditional corp-wide settings and special database fields and tables per setting. The trick is search-ability. Database columns, tables, and relationships are very good at standard searches. However, if we don’t need to search the settings, just use them, then a simple stored object might work great. Game on!
-From a business consultant – What would you do different or the same if you had to start all over again? Basically, virtually burn the house down and see what you would do the same or different? That might help you focus on what is important. He also advised that you record your personal insights and then review them often.
-Teach people how to do things for themselves… empower them. My 5 year old daughter was so excited to learn how to clear the canvas on a simple Microsoft Paint program. She even said, now I can do it all by myself – with a huge smile. People want that! Empower the people!
-For me, reread the “coding ideas and things to do” on the main adilas.biz site (time template with tons of elements of time). Lots of good ideas that still could use some loving and review!
-We need to allow description filters for stock/units on eCommerce. It might even be nice to add a deeper type google search on different fields. Currently, we only match exact strings.
-On eCommerce… We had a request to have both an internal css (look & feel) and an external css (look & feel) option.
-We need to add images to part categories, vendors, makes, sub types, etc. Help make the main search page more visible, visual, and appealing.
-We need to add images to part categories, vendors, makes, sub types, etc. Help make the main search page more visible, visual, and appealing.
-We need to allow .png files as valid logo formats. They are becoming more and more standard. PNG stands for programmable network graphics.
-We had another request to be able to do digital media, pdf’s, books, and videos as part of eCommerce. That project will be coming soon. Basically, media/content and eCommerce combos.
-We had another request for time, rentals, and reservations to be added to eCommerce as well.
-We also need to add the online bill pay or customer pay portal to the eCommerce options.
-We need to expand the parts and items settings for eCommerce. Maybe think about known needs such as shipping fields, weights (plural), longer descriptions, show/hide media, mini black boxes on the pages for custom code or custom call outs, alerts, promotions, extras, other selections, etc. Get ready to expand the eCommerce settings.
-The need for real in-line extensions is heating up. See notes from back on 10/2/14. Awesome stuff is coming!

AU 2963 Daily Tasks 12/6/2014   • New logo for a company out of Denver. Set them up a brand new site at their request.
• Uploaded the GoToMeeting screen capture video from the developer’s meeting on 12/4/14. Added some more documents to the element of time #2930, dealing with the meeting. That id # also has a link to the full video and screen capture clip.
• Recording notes and getting caught up in my notebook. It has been pretty crazy lately. Hard to keep caught up! I really enjoy the writing and recording part of this project. I do get writer’s cramp sometimes but the benefits far outweigh the tiny inconveniences that exist...

AU 2988 Daily Ideas 12/6/2014   -Idea on paying a developer a commission… There may be certain pieces that we don’t want to increase a client’s monthly fee but we want them (our clients) to be able to access features and tools. Maybe we could set a price that would go back to the designer/developer. We could then monitor which corporations use the tool or feature and make commission payments accordingly. Usage monitoring and/or event driven monitoring. This could be a great way to add internal 3rd party tools without nickel and dime(ing) our clients. They basically get to use it and we pay the developers a reoccurring commission on their tools and features. I love it!
-(Added on 12/11/14) Think transparent value added items. The client gets one monthly fee but may actually be using an internal 3rd party solution. We pay the developer’s directly – based off of usage.

AU 2964 Daily Tasks 12/8/2014   • Reviewing notes from this last week. Crazy busy times. Lots of good stuff is happening. Also just to record this, I talked yesterday at church with a Sunday school teacher and computer guy and he would like to start working with us as an adilas intern. He will do great. I’ve been watching him for a while now. Good stuff!
• New logos for some clients. Tweaked the code to allow .png (ping or programmable network graphics) as company logos. This allows for layers and transparent backgrounds. Also worked on moving the media/content code to the content folder. This will help us once we have to configure code to allow both a data server and a media content server on the same box. Anyway, just some prep work.
• Helping an intern with some data import logic. Phone calls, tech support, emails, and finishing up little projects that were started.
• Spent quite a bit of time writing up a new help file to explain the adilas formula or adilas.biz 101 flyer. See help file #487 for details. Lots of work on the 3D world building concept and capturing and recording the digital story. In my mind, those pieces are the goal. We’ll keep on building in order to reach and obtain the goal of full 3D World Building.

AU 2989 Daily Ideas 12/8/2014   -On new corp-wide settings… We need to allow dynamic naming on catalog_page (bin number), part_reference (references), part_weight (weight). These are fields from the parts table. We may also need the payee_ein (EIN#), payee_account_number (account #), payee_drivers_license (driver’s license). These are from the payee table.
-At some future point, it might be nice to allow lots of different database fields, from multiple tables, to be dynamically names, sorted, and turned on/off based on needs. We aren’t quite ready for that yet… Once we are… that will be really cool!
-All hands on deck! We need all parts fields to pull for or to carts, quotes, and invoices. It is getting crazy out there!
-We need all parts fields to be added to the custom label mappings.
-When ready add some new fields to the parts table. Try to cover our basis on what people may need. Think future!

AU 2965 Daily Tasks 12/9/2014   • On the phone with Steve doing a GoToMeeting session. We worked on new custom cart label mappings. We added 4 new fields to the custom label mappings. They are: catalog page (bin #), part reference, part weight, and payee EIN number. Great session.
• An intern came over and we were working on his new method calls. He is working on the web/API documentation project.
• On the phone with a consultant talking about customer data uploads and doing update PO’s to update inventory counts.
• Working with my brother on a plan for what he’ll be doing tomorrow for work and training.
• Finished up the custom label mapping piece that Steve and I were working on. It will be launched with in-line discounts.
• Recording notes.
• Working on logic for in-line discounts. Also added a total tax calculation field per line item. Cascading code from page to page.

AU 2990 Daily Ideas 12/9/2014   -We had a request to make the invoice smaller and more compact. It tends to require two pages to print. Not always but sometimes based on the number of line items, the notes, etc. Maybe create a more standardized layout that is more strict and/or rigid. The other options and view will still be available, but maybe create a view that runs a little bit tighter line.

AU 3738 Brainstorming - In-Line Discount Flow 12/9/2014   In-Line Discount Flow
- Qty
- Price
- Discount
- Discounted price
- Extended

In-Line Discount Flow for Updating the Original List Prices:
Add Mode:
- Set original list to the starting value
- Set original extended to the list times qty
Bulk Mode:
- No change to originals
Known issue when doing “with tax included” plus a discount. It becomes a double discounts. If yes, recalc the % and the savings.
Update Mode:
- If qty changes…
o update extended leave original list above
- If price changes –
o high or reset both original list and original extended – standard price change
- Lower –
o No change
- If no change
o No change

AU 2966 Daily Tasks 12/10/2014   • Recording bills and scanning receipts.
• New logos for clients. They wanted logos with transparent backgrounds.
• Helped my brother start on his first database project. We installed some software, did some planning, and then started working on new tables, columns, and fields. We used our planning paper to get us started. Baby steps.
• Helping my brother set up data sources and pull his first queries on his mini project.
• Working with both an intern and my brother. The intern was converting hardcoded values into methods and functions and my brother was working on his first database mini project. Bouncing between them and doing other tech support stuff.
• Working on in-line discounts and update logic.

AU 2967 Daily Tasks 12/11/2014   • Working on in-line discounts and cascading logic to different pages.
• Steve called just after 10:00am and we did a GoToMeeting session on the code. We did lots of testing and started into the normal update cart code. That page is quite deep and is very in depth. Great session. We also talked about how to help pay internal 3rd parties on a reoccurring model. See notes from 12/6/14 for original details. Basically, we can charge the client based on their needs and just set the monthly. The client doesn’t get nickeled and dimes but we have enough to pass on commissions to both reps and developers. That could make a really fun model.
• Working with an intern on his web/API documentation project. He is transitioning from a mini test environment to a live and bigger production environment.
• Emails and recording notes.
• On the phone with a consultant going over different client requests. She is one of the adilas reps, see below for details.
• Planning next steps with an intern and his project. Also writing an email with links and stuff to a developer out of Omaha, Nebraska area. He is interested in helping with custom code projects.

AU 2991 Daily Ideas 12/11/2014   -Charge enough on the monthly that we have room to pay out developers who are providing internal 3rd party solutions. Say 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, etc. The percentage would be based on usage by a corporation and/or world. We could monitor that and even allow developers to see usage reports. As a side note… We may need a provision about nonpaying clients or play sites. We, adilas don’t and/or can’t page a commission on a site that doesn’t pay us.
New setting ideas… Ideas came from a consultant and her clients.
1. Corp specific invoice payment methods.
2. IP address filters (way up at login and page access level) – who can login and who can access from anywhere?
3. Prompt on clear cart – are you sure?
4. Daily assignments (pools) for user to stations or specific drawers (POS terminals).
5. Be able to swipe a driver’s license and populate customer data fields.

AU 2968 Daily Tasks 12/12/2014   • Updating the main login page. Added two new news and updates. The first one was about the new adilas tech support line. The new tech support number is: (719) 966-7102. We also stated that in-line discounts and campaign tracking were going to be launched next week (I’d better get crackin’ to get it done). The other news item was dealing with some industry specific training that was going to go on in Denver.

AU 2969 Daily Tasks 12/13/2014   • Started recording video clips and GoToMeeting clips on a new set of USB jump drives. I got 8 new jump drives (32 GB sticks) that will be sent out to developers. Planning what to include with the files.
• Working on logic for in-line discounts. Burning files to jump drives and playing with the Windows Snipping Tool. It has options to clip, cut, draw, erase, scroll, and save. I will start using that tool more and more. Great functionality.
• Working on in-line discounts. Had to go back to paper and pencil to figure out all the math and display logic. Kind of running into a wall. The plan is to do all the math and show whatever we can to help it make sense without adding tons of new fields. The problem gets multiplied if a discount also has a tax setting of with tax included. It basically becomes a discount with another discount on top of it.
• In-line discount stuff.

AU 2992 Daily Ideas 12/13/2014   -Make a new document to go along with the adilas videos and jump drives that we send out to developers. Explain what they have and what we are looking for. Point them in a good direction. Let them know that we need them to return and report.

AU 2970 Daily Tasks 12/15/2014   • Working on logic to apply in-line discounts plus a tax setting of with tax included. This is virtually a discount applied to another discount.
• Working with an intern on a new customer data upload. This one is about 50,000 records.
• On the phone with a developer from Omaha, NE about API access. He will be online with us tomorrow for a developer’s meeting.
• Adding new in-line discount fields to the edit cart line items page.
• Working on the edit page for cart line items. Helping an intern with his customer upload.
• Tech support call on sales reports and exports. Talking with my sister about custom eCommerce settings for a client. They need to store custom measurements, custom order forms, etc.

AU 2971 Daily Tasks 12/16/2014   • Writing some longer emails. One was a proposal of sorts and other one was a technical payroll email about FUTA (Federal Unemployment Tax Stuff) settings and calculations.
• Working on in-line discounts and edit cart line item logic.
• Working on in-line discounts.
• Got on a conference call and GoToMeeting session with Steve, some interns, and a new developer. We talked about bulk label printing, custom skins, and custom cart interfaces, and in-line discounts. We did a group training session for a couple of hours. Some of the developers were at different levels. Overall a good session.
• Recording notes about discounts and removing clutter from the shopping cart interface.
• Working on in-line discounts. On the phone with a developer talking about the flex grid tie-ins and making that model more like a true relationship. This deals with changing subs on the admin level and having them cascade changes into the underlying data values. We did a GoToMeeting session and went through some scenarios. Long but great session. We also talked about storing custom settings as JSON objects.
• Recording notes on sub flex grid titles and cascading data updates in bulk based on user interactions.
• Testing in-line discount values in the edit cart line items page. Running scenarios with different changes and values.

AU 2993 Daily Ideas 12/16/2014   -Idea from Steve Berkenkotter: Maybe have different view cart levels. Maybe even have ways to go up or down. Steve called it a “de-clutter” button. This would be an awesome personal cart setting. Basically dumb down your interface at the click of a button. This could be very useful for in-line code, touch screen, drag-n-drop, and even kiosk type interfaces. This may require some client-side technologies such as Ajax, Java Script, or even Flash. Anyway, a way to show/hide clutter or details on the view cart page.
-On discounts and manager approvals of discounts… it may be nice to set maxes or thresholds that require an approval. For example: Say something like prompt for approval of any discount over 20%. Anything less than 20% could go or be applied without approval.
-On searching discounts… Allow ranges to be searched. Allow filters greater than, less than, equal, and even between. A between filter may be the best to get data back.
-On the edit page for flex grid tie-in titles… Maybe add a switch to help bulk update existing data records with the new values. Basically, we have a company that is using the flex grid to hold a list of prices or a virtual price tier. However, if they update a price (a sub of the titles) it only updates that small piece. All of the data is left with the old values. How cool would it be to allow a global update to be applied to the data if wanted. Basically, a small checkbox that says – update all historical data matches. If checked, the system would cascade the changes out to data records. Basically, you would change one master value and all matching sub data would change. This same process happens automatically on normal database and one-to-many relationships. The way the flex grid is setup doesn’t do this automatically. If we added a switch and new code we could get the same results based on what the user wants. Anyway, this idea came from a phone conversation and GoToMeeting session between a developer in Salida, CO. and myself. Good stuff.

AU 2972 Daily Tasks 12/17/2014   • Working on logic for the in-line discounts on the edit cart line item page. Lots of testing.
• Emails and working with an intern on teaching concepts.
• Working with an intern on some data migration clean-up. He pushed up 56,000+ records yesterday and we ran some light clean-up on the records.
• I also got an email from a developer out of Utah. He is working on an app that uses ASP.net and Java Script to connect to the adilas API sockets. He sent me his first round baby demo app to play with. Good stuff.
• Reviewing notes and content on adilas university.
• Working on the advanced edit cart line item page for in-line discounts.
• Working on the Java Script for the advanced edit cart line items page. Paying bills and working with an intern on icon menus.
• A developer came over for a meeting. We chatted and did a little bit of catch-up. We talked business, projects, and even some personal direction. We did a sign-off session on new 1099 and W-2 forms for 2014. We then updated some code files and started into the kiosk payment project. I took him on a small demo and tour of what we did for the C4Ever Systems guys back in September of this year. We drew some notes and flow charts and talked some concepts. We even talked about project management and the need for documentation. That is very important and takes time, but it also translates into dollars and cents later on. Great meeting!
• A new contact came over for an interview. He will be one of five new interns that will be starting in January of 2015. We had a great interview. We started out just chatting and getting to know each other. We then moved on and did a light HTML and web knowledge quiz. He did so well on the HTML quiz that we moved on to a small SQL and database quiz. The whole thing was done on paper and lots of drawings back and forth. Good stuff and he is excited to get up and get going. I’m excited to see what some of these new guys bring to the table. Yee haw!

AU 2973 Daily Tasks 12/18/2014   • Emails, scans, and to do list stuff.
• Add three new money types to all servers. They are PayPal, Other and Payout – Cash/Till.
• On the phone with the GPS guy and a compliance guy talking about using adilas to track licenses and compliance issues and pieces.
• Doing some planning with an intern on upcoming training sessions, classes, and such. He had his first session with a new developer last night.
• Working with interns on options for upcoming training classes. We talked about options to use my house (downstairs), Bridgerland, or even renting an apartment, house, or actual office space. This conversation brought a number of other cause and effect relationships such as privacy, parking, furniture, Wi-Fi, electricity, restrooms, etc.
• Prep for a demo and conference call to show in-line discounts and campaign tracking. Gave a 20 minute demo over GoToMeeting on both in-line discounts and campaign tracking. We also covered a number of new settings and how to make custom discount buttons using corp-wide settings. Short but good demo.
• On the phone with my sister going over schedules, projects, and some tech support questions. We are going to create a schedule for adilas training, custom projects, and intern ColdFusion training. Our plan is to use Bridgerland and go from there. We are thinking about Monday through Thursday 1pm-5pm.
• Working with interns on CSS and HTML training. One of the interns was doing the teaching and I was chiming in and helping.

AU 2978 Daily Tasks 12/24/2014   • Getting new federal tax files for Pub 15 – federal Publication 15, circular E, and Employer’s Tax Guide for 2015. Working with an intern to get things prepped and ready. We even recorded the process of what we are doing. We printed out pages, tables, instructions and started walking through the process step by step. As we got a step done, we would write some notes about what we did and what pages and pieces we used to get it done.
• On the phone with Steve going over logic and page flow for in-line discounts. Deep math and even doing order or operations type stuff. The advanced edit cart line items page allows for up to a triple back calculation. We can handle both single and double back calculations pretty easily, but the triple back calculation has proved to be pretty tricky. Here is an example of a tripe back calc… Goal of $2,000, unknown quantity, fixed price per at $5.16 per, with tax included, and showing a 10% discount. The triple is backing into the unknown quantity, backing into a goal with tax included, and back a 10% discount into those other variables. It’s pretty tough stuff – at least for me…
• Emails and tech support stuff.
• On the phone again with Steve doing another session on the advanced calculations for in-line discounts. Tons of math, calculations, planning, and going through scenarios.
• More work on in-line discounts and logic and flow.

AU 2979 Daily Tasks 12/27/2014   • Working on back calculations for advanced edit cart line logic. Lots of time on paper, scenarios, and working out order of operations. Lots of notes listing variables and affected pieces. Spent time plugging in real numbers as test cases and scenarios.
• More scenarios and planning for math calcs that need a triple back calculations. A triple back calc deals with a known total, and unknown price or quantity, a discount, and a tax setting with tax included. Anyway, planning and going through things on paper.
• Working on Java Script to help with advanced calculations.
• Rewriting some new code to help with the advanced edit cart line page. Decided to rewrite the Java Script and build it back up from the ground up. It was getting too big and overwhelming. This was a simpler approach.

• On the phone with Steve doing a GoToMeeting session and working on invoices and in-line discount logic. Lots of testing and following rabbit holes to chase down logic. Fun but long session. We also talked about other future projects for ourselves and for new interns. Crazy times ahead! We are okay with that!
• Recording notes and doing some planning for what needs to be done.

AU 2998 Daily Ideas 12/31/2014   -On payroll and the calculate payroll page… We need to break that page down into smaller pieces. We need to get the logic into a level of one to many, plug and play, mini pieces.
-The other huge monsters that need to be broken up are: the shopping cart, the databases, eCommerce, the web/API sockets, corp-wide settings, payroll, and permissions. They are fully functional but need some lovin’…. It would be really cool if each section was consumable and more bite size vs. a huge whale or elephant. See notes from back on 10/23/14 for more details and ideas.
