Shop 1636 Adilas time 10/3/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Nick and Steve. We pushed up 60+ new API socket pieces and started going through and checking live connections. Nick was updating servers with new documentation while I was doing some light debugging. Steve was working on a new 3rd party integration page with stored settings.

After that, Nick started doing some prep work on a new .csv file upload project and I started building out a quote for the project. See elements of time # 1907 for the project details, scope, documentation, and quote. We added a couple new services to help with verbage about change requests and half down on payment requirements.

Shop 1880 Server Setup 10/3/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Bryan. We did some tax updates on the data 6 server. It is all but ready (very close) to being released. We tried to contact Steve to get any final instructions. We also lightly covered a new small mini black box project for Tubes N' Hoses out of Waco, TX. They want to see the customer notes inside the shopping cart in a top mini black box.

Shop 1863 General 10/3/2016   Printing off older elements of time. Back in the 2010 to 2012 era. Fun trip down memory lane. Creating a printed (hard copy) back-up for all of the brainstorming and concepting we have worked on. I think it is fun.

I can't wait to get back in there and circle around and look at the notes and ideas we have recorded. We've been going so fast that it is hard to harvest all of the good ideas and concepts. Good stuff.

Shop 1909 Tubes & Hoses Top Mini 10/3/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Bryan. We went over the top mini black box code for showing the customer notes in a shopping cart. Super easy project and Bryan did a great job. He will get with Alan and get things all signed off and what not. I told him that he could bill that project directly. It was quoted out at $100 for a simple mini black box.

Shop 1637 Adilas time 10/4/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Nick, Alan, Steve, and Russell. The topic for the day was based on the vision of black boxing the whole system. We talked techy stuff, visual stuff, concerns, pros, cons, roles (who), options, and depth of the project. What level do we want to attack and what is the main goal?

We did some concept sessions. Russell drew some things. I drew some things. Steve was chiming in. Nick was taking notes (see element of time # 1859 - media/content). Great overall discussion.

Towards the end, Dave Forbis came over to my house. He participated in the last part of the session and contributed to the ideas and reports on who is doing what.

After that, he and I spent from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm talking about potential, consulting, and helping each other out. We are going to try to setup some meetings with clients and Dave is going to try to get things going on some different levels. We are going to try to meet with Gene Spaulding (an old friend of mine) and get some ideas on assisted living centers and other verticals and industries. Gene was a banker before his current role that he is playing. He has tons of knowledge.

Great meeting and lots of spreading the vision of where we are as compared with where we are going. We are virtually posting little flags to indicate the pathway we want to travel. Hopefully, as we place the flags around, we are hoping that others can start drawing lines, connections, and help us fill in the gaps. Good stuff.

Shop 1786 State API 10/4/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Steve. We were working on adding in a local page filter for data that was returned from the different state API socket calls. Basically, we had to filter and limit the amount of data that was shown vs. the amount that was passed back by the API socket call. To make it more of a challenge, we have different page modes and different manual sort modes that had to play into the filtering process as well. Good session.

While we were coding and talking, we were talking about a number of business decisions and internal direction for where we are going. Our plan is to keep going and try to balance things out between client types, industries, maintenance, new development, standardization, customization, debt, revenue/sales, etc. Lots of intentional balancing. Playing the game.

Shop 1911 Working with Bryan on the Linx (links) payment solution 10/4/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Bryan going over the process and in/outs for the Linx (pronounced links) card payment process. We looked the Adilas 3rd party solution page and how that ties into the API socket calls and potential custom flow for the shopping cart. Good meeting.

Shop 1049 Adilas time 10/5/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Nick and Steve. We basically just used it as a work session and each of us did our own projects. I was doing emails and cleaning up post-it notes. Nick was working on a custom report some black box stuff. Steve was working on his state API socket connection pages and filtering data that got returned. If the guys needed help, I would jump over and help them and then we would be back on our own projects. Very productive.

Shop 1908 Working with Bryan on a custom cart 10/5/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Bryan. We were working on the custom code for CCG. They are a timeshare and resort reseller of sorts. They have a custom one-pager that gathers information for resorts, fees, transfers, cancelations, and other info. The page is then submitted and it draws up forms and PDF documents behind the scene. It also makes an invoice using the data provided. We were in deep looking at logic and trying to make sure that all of the invoice line item mappings are done correctly.

Lots of raw SQL queries to look up and compare values. We also used the drawing tools on GoToMeeting to help with the flow process and get our mappings correct. The project feels very simple because it is a one pager, but behind the scenes this little project packs a punch. Interesting.

Part way through, I did have to help Calvin Chipman with an API tech support issue. That took a little bit of back and forth code tweaking.

Shop 1914 Working with Bryan 10/6/2016   Full rework with Bryan on the one pager for the resorts and timeshare stuff for CCG. Our original goal was a quick hour or two. It ended up going for over five hours on the rework. Once it was done, it seemed quite good and tight but ended up taking the entire morning work session.

Shop 2676 Virtual Post-It Note 10/6/2016   - Conversions are starting to get bigger and bigger as well. How does that play in with the part weight field.

- Part weight is playing in more and more - What do we want to do with that? Currently it is being used for gram control and/or an alternate multiplier.

- We would love to be able to name that field and make it more standard. Currently they are using the catalog_page field (aka the bin number). We may need a couple of extra fields here. This field is a varchar (text field) and allows for both alpha and numeric values. In some of our code, we are having to check for numeric values and then doing multiplication. If it is not a numeric, we are treating it like a value of 1 which doesn't change anything.

- We may need another unit of measure field to help with the part weight or some other key factor.

- Go back to the parent/child relationships - Is this data needed on the parent or on the individual child. Expand on this. Also, this information may be part of the conversion process. Some of the data may need to be stored higher and then cascading downward. It also may need to be recorded on a per child or per mini conversion level.

- The parent items may need a couple more fields that could be dynamic. We need both text and numeric data fields. Maybe thing shipping, ecommerce, weight stuff, alternate units of measure. For example: Say a single candy bar (1 each) may also need a spot to store the number of carbs or sugar content (2.7 milligrams or 5.67 fluid ounces or whatever).

- What about other possible thresholds? Think broad... this may not go here, but we have sub inventory, sub attributes, flex grid, corp-wide settings, etc. What about real in-line extensions of the database. That might be really cool. If they want more or less fields, it would be really cool to allow that kind of functionality on the parent item level.

Shop 1012 Brandon out of the office all day 10/7/2016   Went on an extra long hike with my dad this morning. We were doing trail maintenance and flagging a new trail. That was kinda fun.

Later in the day I spent some helping Russell with some adilas stuff and printing a copy of the existing elements of time for adilas as a back-up copy.

Shop 1917 Russell Time 10/7/2016   On a Zoom session with Russell. We were working on the elements of time and creating a data feed for companies to use. This would allow any company, on any server, to virtually get a data fee pushed to their server or box via the adilas API sockets. This would be a webservice type approach for the feeds.

Shop 1639 Adilas time 10/10/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Nick and Steve. Nick and I were working on the starting of the new black box every page in the system project. This will end up being a pretty big project. We started into it and then hit a few speed bumps due to the existing folder structure and number of different options.

We spent some time translating paths, setting up some scenarios, and drawing using the GoToMeeting tools like a virtual whiteboarding session. Lots of concepts.

Started with the main login page, the error message page, and some other general files. We eventually need to cascade this logic to all parts, pages, and sections within the site. Here we go...

Shop 1640 Adilas time 10/11/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Nick, Alan, and Steve. We showed Alan some of our progress with the black box project and he caught on super quickly. We also got an update from Steve on some changes and projects that he is working on. He is cranking on some of his own projects and such. Good stuff.

Halfway through the session, we broke into smaller individual work sessions. I started fixing things in elements of time (recording notes and general clean-up). Alan was doing some code sign-off, and Nick was pushing on the black box stuff. Steve was doing phone calls and API stuff.

Shop 1788 State API 10/11/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Steve. We added 5 new web/API assignment fields to the web/api assignments table. This is where we store 3rd Party Solutions and their stored settings (custom fields for API socket connections). We then cascaded the changes around and then pushed and merged some files. The other thing we did was talk some strategy on how to push API transactions on a per invoice basis from the submit cart page. Good meeting.

As a side note, we also talked about some of the vision and future of some of our plans and goals. Our goal is to stay small (ish) and keep a core team going and moving forward.

Nick and I then worked on more of the black box project. We went back through some of the older notes and made sure we were hitting all of the pieces. We even played lightly with some theme stuff and making sure that everything cascades as we want it to.

We merged, tested, and pushed the first 88 files. This was all of the stuff in the main top secret folder. We'll head to the top secret secure folder next. Yea haw!

Shop 1821 Bryan Dayton 10/12/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Bryan. We were looking over some code that he did for the CCG group (time shares and resort management stuff). He added a bunch of new settings and got the page ready to go. It looked pretty good and had a number of lists and arrays and dynamic notation.

We then spent some time working on his Linx payment solution (virtual wallet project). We went over some card reader stuff and tried to point him in a good direction. We also got on a phone call with Dave Forbis and talked about another similar project and what is needed there. Good session.

We tried to standardize what we could and pushed up the new files.

Shop 1916 API code planning and check 10/12/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Bryan. We looked at some of his code for his card reader stuff and then went on to look at some invoice locking code. We worked through some logic and then got Bryan pointed to a mini test page to test some of his logic. The bigger page was around 1,000 lines long and hard to figure out what was what. I recommended that he go and build a mini page to do some testing.

Shop 1641 Adilas time 10/13/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Nick and Alan. Nick and I went through a bunch of invoice pages that need to be black boxed and we got Nick started on that. Alan and I then went through his sub sign-off code for elements of time and subs of time. We did some merging and made a couple small fixes and changes.

Part way through, we were all working on our own little mini projects and such. That seems to work very well. I'm excited to see more pieces being done on elements of time (subs or add-on functions). Also, I am seeing more requests for access and instructions on how to use the adilas API sockets from outside parties and vendors. Interesting to see where things are growing and getting more heat and pressure.

We also expanded the vision and talked about Calvin's auto process tool and stashing data and stats per day per location. We talked about other ways of speeding up queries and indexing things. We talked lots of mapping and concepts of 3d virtual world building off of pre-formatted data points (auto process stuff). Shop 1922 Meeting with Chris and Russell, Marketing Ideas 10/17/2016   On a Zoom session with Russell and Chris Johnnie. They were proposing some marketing ideas and opening up some conversations. Here are some of my notes:

- They would like to sell the adilas marketplace back to us. This was going to be the adilas world project (back in the day) and they modified it to the adilas market. This is our community networking and marketing site. They were talking between $9,000 to $15,000. They would also consider possible monthly payments.

- They pitched a model of they build it and get it ready and then resell it back to us. They stay on the front end of the development cycle. We get to pick and choose where we send them and what we want to buy back.

- They would like to do a similar things with the adilas university project. They would like to build it out and get it started and then roll it back over to us.

- They would like to keep pushing forward on the other projects that are on their tick list.

- If we owned the adilas marketplace, we could negotiate prices and agreements for the market. Steve is the best source for filling up the market. We could give things away, charge, and push people there. This could also allow us to encourage a free market enterprise vs. an endorsed or pre-set market.

- Russell had an adilas rep that asked about duplicating the adilas market for her own networking needs. Russell took the idea and would like to see it be a toggle on/off service for adilas clients. Basically a marketing and networking hub of sort for other companies. Mini networking teams.

- AFB (adilas for business) would like to work on a long-term relationship with the main adilas company.

- The adilas university site and concept needs to be able to duplicate as well. Basically, there are tons of people and companies who need to help educate and teach what they do or sell. A community learning center of sorts. Once again a toggle on/off service that comes with the adilas platform.

- A note from Chris Johnnie - Maybe set the prices to help out loyal customers. This could be something that we add in for free and/or some kind of promotion or customer loyalty program or perk.

- We may need to raise the commissions rates and system prices to a higher level. This could help make the ball go further. Higher prices and higher commission rates could help to sell the products or services.

- Russell and Chris would love to see a 60-80% commission on the first year of service. It would then roll into the normal 20-40% commission as a reoccurring model. Basically, the first year is kinda front loaded. Once the client is stable and on the system, the reoccurring commission is at a smaller rate. Kinda like an investment.

- We need and AFB would like to make a ecommerce version of adilas and help to gather the correct setup and sign-up information for a new adilas system. This would be a series of small forms that get and collect the corporation, location, and user information. This is a great lead in to packages and possible upsells.

- What if we took the setup fee (say $150 - $250) and pushed a good portion of that to the rep or consultant to help with the setup and training of the client. Or, if the setup fee was increased, we could push a portion to training and education. Helping to get the clients off to the races on the right foot.

- There are two huge keys: They are education and maintenance. Those two things may be more important than new features.

- Russell gave the corn field analogy. He said, say you have some land but don't have the time to plant it. What if you allowed someone else to plant it and they get 60-80% of the corn the first year. Then the next year, they only get 20% of the corn that gets produced by that field (client payments for a system). Anyways, the goal and idea was to use other people to help plow the field and get things ready. They make enough and we get another field plowed.

- We, as adilas, may need to help these guys keep pushing the ball forward and helping them with sales and what not. Keep moving forward and kicking the ball down the road.

Shop 1644 Adilas time 10/20/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Nick and Alan. We started out the day by going over where each of us were at. Alan then gave us a small little lesson on some object oriented programming stuff that he is learning at school. Good stuff. Here is a small recap.

- Encapsulation - like a cfc - like code goes together - functions and methods - keep things separate - logic goes together, display goes together, and data goes together

- Keep things simple - what to put in and what to expect?

- Cohesion - things that are similar stick together (keep like tasks together) - limited goals and range of functions

- Coupling - how much (data or other pieces) goes between the calls and passing the data back and forth - the goal is to pass as little as possible but yet keep the trail going

- Readability - make things consistent and easy to understand. for example: y="smith" (bad) vs. last_name="smith" (good)

- They recommend a noun for variables (describe the what it is) and a verb for methods or functions (what does it do or how does it behave)

- Only use plurals if really plural - otherwise use singular

After the small lesson, we had a small session on what this means inside of adilas and how we could use similar things for objects and data over time. We did some drawing and setup models that show objects being built and manipulated over and through time.

We then talked about budgeting and how you could set goals and budgets according to what you wanted to do. You could then compare the two. We then talked about how if the model is based over time (x-axis) and you were also capturing the up/down of the resources (y-axis) and also the stacking and spatial pieces of the puzzle (z-axis). You could get some great predictive models that through data could show visual stories of what is going on and/or what we would like to have happen. Fun session.

One more small note about time... It goes in both directions as far as we know. Backwards and forwards. That makes it a great base to build on. See and search other notes about the 3D timelines and 3D calendars in the developer's notebook.

Steve came on and we talked about a server error that was on the server yesterday. There was an error with one little letter. We then pushed up the code and didn't check it. We shut down the servers for about 20 minutes. Steve was comparing the system to the human body. If we are in the vital pieces (heart, brain, lungs, etc.). Maybe push things to a single server and then fully test things. We need to setup some standard procedure and/or procedures.

We also talked about not forcing things. If needed, we could always push things to another session. We also need a calling tree and line of authority of who can fix what and what to do. There is another need for communication back to our clients.

It is fun and kinda crazy to create this music and symphony. It is never done and it keeps going. Sometimes we are realizing dreams and other times we are pulling out our hair. It is both addicting and frustrating at the same time. Keep building and searching for the bliss. What a mix of highs, lows, joy, happiness, depression, anxiety, funk, pleasure, purpose, vision, etc.. What a random ride... We are nothing without each other. The sum of the blocks make up the tower.

Shop 1645 Adilas time 10/24/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Nick and Steve. Nick was working on the black box project. He is entering the cart and shopping cart land (page sets and page groups) now. Steve was working on a small page to run some mini conversions. Basically, they are grabbing data and then making a mini form that allows the user to virtually divide the product into known sub pieces (mini conversions going from grams to ounces, grams to each, etc.).

I helped out with some small questions and then did a bunch of emails and phone calls. I was on the phone with Shannon, Bryan, Will, and Russell. I spent almost an hour on the phone with Russell. He was talking shop and ideas that he and Chris Johnnie would like to do. They would like to focus more on sales and marketing vs. new development and building. We talked pros and cons and had a good conversation. The hard part is really making things happen in a timely manner. Things tend to happen, it just seems to play out at a much slower pace than what we had hoped.

Shop 1827 Calvin Chipman 10/24/2016   On a phone call with Calvin going over a new Windows based service that will be put on the data 5 server. It will watch and monitor changes in files and let certain people know that changes have been made. This is a custom effort to help keep some of our clients up to date on changes that happen within the adilas.biz files and file structure. Most of our phone call was just going over flow and details. Interesting project.

Shop 1646 Adilas time 10/25/2016   GoToMeeting session with Nick, Alan, Steve, and Danny Shuford. Alan reported on some API socket stuff. We helped Steve with some API socket stuff and connections. We then broke into our own groups and worked on projects. Steve and Danny were working together. Alan, Nick, and I were doing our own little projects. Nick was doing black box stuff. Alan was prepping files for Steve and I was working on some custom store/location mappings for a 3rd party vendor page.

Shop 1945 Ok to do custom work 10/25/2016   On a phone call with Steve going over funding options and such. Sometimes I get tunnel vision and think that there are only a certain number of ways to solve a problem. That is very limited thinking. Expand your vision and look around.

"Do custom work to fix the funding crunch. That is ok!" - Steve Berkenkotter.

Remember the story of "Who moved my cheese?" We have to change and adapt as needed. That may take some mixing and blending vs. a pre-set person, place, or thing that we do or count on. We may have to come up with a hybrid-type solution.

Shop 1794 State API 10/25/2016   Small GoToMeeting session with Steve. We talked about funding and how custom projects are great to help supplement internal building and maintenance. That was good to hear. Sometimes I get stuck on just doing things one way (say internally funding things vs. externally funding our guys). Anyways, short conversation and then we worked on our own projects.

I finished up the 3rd party solutions page for the ICS project. It has some dynamic store/location mappings that get recorded and updated as needed. Lots of loop-ity loops stuff. Sent off a screen shot to the client for approval.

Shop 1892 Russell Moore 10/25/2016   Working with Russell over a Zoom session. We were working on cascading the show on the web setting for elements of time to the respective pages. We added code to the add/edit page, the working with time page, the gallery page, the printable time page, and the advanced time search page. We also did some planning and made some to do lists of other tweaks and changes that are needed to fully roll this out. Good session. Towards the end of the session, I was getting tired and was having a hard time focusing. Too many meetings...

Shop 1935 Talking with Dave 10/25/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Dave Forbis. We were going over requests from CCG - Capital Consulting Group. They have a slick one-page custom shopping cart. They enter the data and it creates a number of PDF documents and creates an invoice behind the scenes. All from just one simple little page. They have a couple of new requests and some small tweaks that need to be made. Going over things with Dave.

Shop 1052 Adilas time 10/26/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Steve, Nick, and Danny. We started out the morning looking at a custom label page that Danny was working on. His code was not part of master so we actually overwrote a small part of it. We got it all figured out and talked about the concept of who has the last cookie (version control)? We then worked in our own little blocks.

I did some phone calls and worked on a custom file to create CSV (comma separated values) files. Nick was doing black box stuff. And Steve was bouncing in and out of the meetings.

Towards the end, Eric Tauer (developer from Salida, CO) got on the call. We went over our plans for a new page that will help convert inventory items that are in a shopping cart from parent inventory to child inventory. Lots of talk and ideas on the subject. This is needed as we have a number of outside feeders that make quotes and then we have to restore those items to the cart for final checkout, fulfillment, and other user related tasks.

Shop 1944 Simple skins and tools for businesses 10/26/2016   While talking with Shawn Curtis about adilas, we thought it would be good to record a note on making super simple tools and features such as mileage, easy expense tracking, project time clocks, simple appointments, basic to do lists, etc. Make it easy and super intuitive and super simple for the users. Basically, an out of the box turn key type skin or app.

Shop 1647 Adilas time 10/27/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Nick, Alan, and Eric Tauer from Salida. We did some light introductions between the guys and jumped into a brainstorming session. Eric and I worked on the ideas and concepts to help with a new cart based page that converts a parent line item into a child or sub inventory line item. See attached for some notes and what not.

As part of our session, we did a bunch of drawing and went through the needs and even progression of what is happening as things mature and evolve. Lots of ideas and concepts for the smart cart logic, pricing matrix options, and other tiered pricing stuff.

I worked with Alan on some database and invoice API questions. I then spent the rest of the time working with Nick on our large merge project for the black boxes. We got in pretty deep into the cart logic. It is interesting that we keep finding these big hubs of activity and logic. The cart or shopping cart is a huge convergence of pieces and is virtually the gateway to the system.

Shop 1943 Set code standards 10/27/2016   While talking with Russell Moore today, we talked about a couple of pieces that need to come into play here soon. Cohesion and making sure we have good code being pushed live. We need to setup the nets for the developers. Take your time and do it right. We also need to protect the code from the last cookie syndrome and overwriting other code from developers (system wide version control and standard procedures).

Shop 1830 Calvin Chipman 10/27/2016   On a phone call with Calvin going over standards and making sure all of the developers are using Git and our version control stuff. We have a couple of developers who are not using that and it is causing problems with other developers overwriting code that was done by other developers. Basically, we are starting to virtually walk over or trip over each other's code. We need to standardize things and make sure protocols are followed.

Shop 1793 Tech Support 10/27/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with a client helping them with a printer problem. Sometimes it gets crazy and it is hard to keep up.

Shop 1893 Russell Moore 10/27/2016   On a Zoom session with Russell. We were working on the developer's notebook pages and section. We fixed some corp id number stuff and started working on the corp switching options. We ran into some CSS and header/footer (look and feel) problems. That sent us on a side tangent for the remainder of the session. Trying to track down changes, paths, settings, defaults, and how to allow for dynamic switching between corps (with and without valid logins).

Shop 1648 Adilas time 10/31/2016   On a GoToMeeting session. Eric Tauer popped in and we chatted for a bit. I was doing some shop time clean-up and recording notes. I also got on a call with Dave Forbis and we went over a number of different items. He has been doing some demos and helping with project management stuff. We spent about half an hour going over the different projects and options. Dave has been a huge helper over the years.

I spent the rest of the session cleaning up post-it notes and doing stuff inside the elements of time for the shop. Lots of recording notes and ideas. I've got a huge stack of post-it notes that need to be recorded.

Shop 1941 Official policies 10/31/2016   We keep running into scenarios where an official policy or policies would really help. It may be worth a couple days worth of time to set some the virtual nets in place to help protect all of us. We have a developer that made something for a client and the client is not paying. The developer wants to pull the custom code. That is fair, we just need to get an official stance on the issue. There are other things that need to be defined as well.

Shop 1942 Finish out the clock in/out section more fully 10/31/2016   I was asked today how much just the clock in/out portion would cost? I said $17/month or something like that. Along with that, I had the idea to fully finish out that section, including the department clock in/out page. Maybe check it out and fully finish that part of the puzzle out. That is a great toe in the door type feature that could progress to other uses of the system. That would be my vote to finish that section up and make it tight and then use it as the fall back feature for almost any business. Search and see other notes on this same subject.

Shop 1939 GDA balance sheet 10/31/2016   On a GoToMeeting session with Bryan. We worked on some custom interfaces for his client. Most of our time was spent re-writing some custom queries and using flex grid to filter the records that needed to be displayed. We also got on a phone call with Dave Forbis to talk about project management and an older project that is still out. We also talked about a non-paying client and our plans for shutting down their custom code until payment is made.

After our meeting. I used a little bit of time and did emails and light clean-up.
