Shop 3370 Adilas Time 1/2/2018   Morning GoToMeeting. We got on and Wayne, Steve, and Calvin were on. Wayne had some questions about some data migration projects. We helped him out and then Calvin gave a report on some of his projects. After doing some emails and such, I started to work on the stock/unit portion of the sales tax expansion project. We are trying to get it all done by end of the month. We still have quite a ways to go.

Towards the end of the meeting, I was helping Steve with some dynamic gram tracking for his corp-specific cart mini's. We spent quite a bit of time going over the logic and how the dynamics convert into real values. His stuff is pretty complicated, but he is doing quite well. Good stuff.

Around 12 pm, Calvin jumped on and had some questions on some of the reports for the sales tax stuff. We got him pointed in the right direction and he reported in on progress.

Shop 3424 Data Change Log push live 1/2/2018   Working with Bryan on a GoToMeeting session. We spent most of our time adding a second vendor for PO's and expense/receipts. This has been wanted and needed for quite some time. Most of what we talked about was on the database and table and field level. More code is still needed, but we spent some time working on the landing zone for the new data.

Met up with Justin on a Zoom session. We looked over some code for his project. It was dealing with some new statement code out in the ecommerce land. Light training and showing him some ideas. Mostly working on one new primary logic page. We didn't quite finished before we had to bail out and quit for the day.

Back onto the sales tax expansion project - working with stock/units.

I ended up using most of the session to fix some image bugs on the news and update pages that Steve and Benjamin Hudson have been working on. The images were fine, but the code that showed them had some disconnects between the image heights and the image widths. That made the photos stretch and/or look kinda funny or out of proportion.

Steve had me write out the first two commission checks for Alan Williams and Calvin Chipman. Currently, they are set at 1% of gross deposits. Fun new steps and new phases coming into view. Good stuff.

Shop 3439 Add a system wide any search 1/3/2018   Just an idea... What if we had a quick search option that did an any search. By "any" if could mean we check all fields and tables. If we get less than say 20 results, we could show them back per category. If we get over 20 results per category, we could show a category and a count. If clicked, the category would do a sub search and display all of the results for that category. Each category would be either a table, section, and/or specific groups. Basically, a way to search all tables and all subs from one spot. That would be pretty cool.

I think the trick there would be showing the results and providing proper drill-downs so that you don't hurt the system through too much processing. Just a quick category or grouping with a count might work slick as long as you could get to the underlying data with-in just a couple more clicks or something.

Another fun option might be mixed searches where you could virtually add in wild cards. This could loop over options and check for one or more results. If we got into this, we might want to play with regular expressions, dynamic looping, open ended like statements, or other pre-built text searches like verity or other pre-built functions. This little project might need some research instead of just jumping in blindly.

As a resource, see the top_secret/cfc/requests_2.cfc and the miniSearchMainElementsOfTime method for an attempt to do multiple database like searches within a loop.

That will be pretty cool once he gets everything done and working correctly.

Shop 3372 Adilas Time 1/4/2018   Steve's review of his meeting with Kelly and her crew. We are seeing that we provide a service and a product but we need people to support and help with training. We are seeing more need for education, training, helping, and mentoring. We need other players in the mix to be successful. We almost need someone at the ground level helping the people go and get things done. Adilas has been helping to create new markets and/or byproducts. That seems to be what is successful. Basically a funnel of sorts.

We need all of the people who keep playing the game along with us. That is very important.

Helping Steve with his gram tracking logic.

Helping Bryan with his 2nd vendor project. Went through the project and did some planning and taking notes.

Shop 3440 second vendor 1/8/2018   Bryan and I got on a GoToMeeting session and looked over his code for the second vendor for PO's. We did some code review, made a few changes, and looked over the output and display of the new settings. We then merged in some code, ran some database updates, and pushed up a few of the files (somewhat a strategic upload in order to help the session scope out). We then looked into the SSL on the data 9 box and talked about some of the needs for the new server.

Shop 3380 Adilas Time 1/9/2018   Pushed up the rest of the files that Bryan had finished for the 2nd vendor for the PO section. He is still working on the expense/receipt side and adding a 2nd vendor option there. Once it is all done, he will help us get an update ready that we can push. Worked with Steve and Calvin over the GoToMeeting session. We did some planning on the sub phases and sub groups for elements of time. We then got a call about a bug in the add/edit main PO section dealing with the 2nd vendor. It only affected persons with black box (custom) code. We made some changes and then pushed up the new code. We also spent some time and merged in Steve code branch. He is really in there pushing on things. That really helps.

Shop 3381 Adilas Time 1/10/2018   On white labeling... we need to set up our own company as if we were one giant white label. Think of the options for ski areas, campgrounds, nurseries, trailer dealers, insurance agents, law firms, toy stores, bowling supplies, etc. We could do special interfaces and custom themes for waste management, hazmat, agriculture, restaurants, deli's, hair salons, motor sports, you name it. Our goal is going to be providing the underlying platform and system to support these different white labeling options. That is where we need to keep heading. Good stuff.

Working with Steve on the morning GoToMeeting. We had Wayne and Eric pop in at different times. We have a lot of great people working with us. Most of the session was doing individual projects. Steve was working on his plant phases and sub phases stuff. I was working on the main elements of time page. I added in a general text filter and worked on the next month and previous month buttons to allow them to go on and on forever in any direction.

We also talked about helping our developers with ideas and direction. If they get a big project, we want to put in our two cents on how things could and/or should work with the system as a whole. We don't want a ton of small band-aid type projects, we want the whole thing to work as a platform and cohesive system. anyways, we chatted about options to help our guys out and even pushing monies their way to help it all tie-in together.

The buttons work like pagination except it deals with a weekly date range instead of a certain number of records per page. It makes the admin interface more of a page turning application or a classic feel like a schedule book.

Shop 3429 Russell Time 1/10/2018   Russell and I did some work over a Zoom session. We were working on the invoice due date project. That is going good and we are making some good progress. We have a small text file and we are going through things and coding and testing pages that are on our list. We are now past the secure cart logic and into displaying the due dates on different pages.

As a fun side note, we also talked about what projects need to be reported in to us. We used the analogy of an office building. If a person puts something on their desk, hangs something on the wall, or does something similar (low consequence), we don't need to know. However, if someone decides to add a new door, replace an old one, or break down a wall to add something new... we want to know. Basically, if they are doing simple black box code projects or small projects, no problem. If we start making core changes and/or altering databases, we want to know. Kinda a fun little analogy.

It isn't happening right yet, but we have seen some small tastes of the developers getting too carried away and altering paths of where we are hoping to go and/or projects that need to be tied in correctly so that it doesn't break something else. No major warnings right now... just trying to watch out for things that might be coming down the pipeline. On a different note, it is kinda fun to see these developers grow and even flex their muscles at times. They are all getting better and better.

Shop 3454 On the phone with Calvin 1/13/2018   On the phone with Calvin. He wanted to call and report on the sales tax project. Here are some small notes from our call:

- Huge projects with unclear requirements tend to be a lessor priority and it is hard to be motivated to work on such big huge beasts. It takes time to get in and time to get out of the projects. You lose a lot in the transition between projects. Big lead-ins make it hard to get the dedicated time to get things done.

- Calvin was feeling like a partial failure due to the efforts that were being performed. He has worked himself up to be a $150 per hour - top end developer. We are only paying a portion of that and he is feeling like his efforts are even less than what is being paid. Basically, Calvin was being honest and saying that he didn't feel right about the effort and the pay.

- That lead into a conversation about accountability and leverage - both of those are very common in an employer/employee relationship. He didn't feel like we had any of that due to the independent nature of how we have things setup. That lead to some talks about how to manage a beast like what we have going and flowing. It gets tough.

- We talked about finding the balance and a good match between people and their love for certain projects. If they love it, they will be devoted to that cause. If not, it is like pulling teeth, just for simple stuff. There has to be a balance and each person is different.

- We talked a little bit about being devoted to a cause or being willing to put in the extra work because you either like it, you love it, or you know you will make more or get paid later.

- Long story made short... it comes down to motivation, compensation, passion, and good hard work.

Lots of other fun ideas and such. A great call.

Shop 3391 Adilas Time 1/15/2018   Meeting up with Steve on the morning GoToMeeting session. We did some catch-up from over the weekend and then went into a small session on sub phases. Steve is coding a special page that will be using elements of time, sub phases, sub groups, etc. We made a small plan and then broke off into individual projects. I sent out an email to the guys letting them know that I was not going to be on the morning or afternoon meetings for a couple of weeks. I trying to get the sales tax expansion project up and running.

Back on the sales tax expansion branch. Made a small plan and then started merging in Calvin's code to the main project branch. I'm thinking about doing the project in a number of smaller pieces. I just haven't been able to decide exactly what to do yet. It's a pretty big project.

Shop 3453 Touch of Class: Flash lable 1 x 1 1/15/2018   Meeting with Bryan to go over a few projects. We started out with a code sign-off for a client that wanted some black box and rounding to the nearest minute for employee time clocks (clock in/out's). We then spent some time talking about custom barcode labels. We have had some requests to get custom labels and be able to control spacing, sizes, font sizes, placement, barcode sizes, font orientation, etc. We have also had requests to be able to do bulk or batch processing. We have also had requests to be able to save and store custom settings. The other request deals with being able to select certain items or products and specify how many of each as a batch print job. Many of these things are fun ideas but may require us to build out a custom label printing app or something similar. In the mean time, we looked at both Flash and custom PDF options. I pointed Bryan to some files we did for Trinity Fasteners dealing with custom barcode labels and different sizes.

We talked about some of his questions and I tried to fill him in on some of the details and where to find certain pieces of data and/or logic for the cart, barcode scans, QR codes, my cart favorite buttons, recipe/builds, customer info, etc.

Shop 3393 Adilas Time 1/17/2018   My day started out kinda randomly. I started out not being on a GoToMeeting session. The goal was trying to get in a good work session. I was trying to get some sales tax stuff done. I then met with Alan online and helped him get some info about update PO's and how to update inventory counts in the system. After that, I got back online to help Bryan with some data 9 server questions and issues. Then I wrote some tech support emails and tried to help Will out with some questions on ecommerce and getting image paths mixed with dynamics. Next thing I knew, I had already burned up a couple of hours.

Back on the sales tax expansion project for the last part of the session.

As a request... some of the Adilas API sockets that return photo info, might need some light help so that we don't have to explain full image paths to each and every person. We need the main server name or primary domain name, we need the corp-specific image folder, and we need either a fully qualified path, and/or some more detailed instructions.

Shop 3395 Adilas Time 1/22/2018   Working with Steve over the GoToMeeting session. We spent the first hour going over budgets, decisions, etc.

- We are a vendor not an investor. This means that we seek to sell our products and services vs trying to help build up other companies and do other things for profit. This may change later, but it is really important that we only run as fast as we are able.

- Why do we have to pay to help a client succeed? Past and present clients - relationships and lessons learned. This was a talk about numerous clients that we have had to pitch in thousands and thousands of dollars to help make them go, get them going, and/or trying to help them be happy. We need to flip this model and charge for our services, where possible.

- Custom developers and code writers and where is that going? It is a bonus to have people who can write code, build, and upload files and pieces. Who is managing all of those changes? Are we all going in the same direction? How can we help direct that expansion and those changes.

- What about Chris and Russell with AFB (adilas for business)? Where are they going? They are very strategic which is good but also makes us watch them a little bit closer.

- What about PHP and WordPress stuff? We talked a little bit about different coding languages and how those can work by themselves as well as with others. The world keeps changing. We also talked a little bit about both backend engines and frontend engines and interfaces.

- Need for maintenance on some of the older code and features. The further we go, the more maintenance that is required. Someone has to help with the upkeep and maintenance. If we had the money, it would be nice to rewrite some of that older code and bring it all up to a certain level. In the mean time, we just keep doing what we can do.

After talking with Steve, I spent some time writing some emails to the Canadian vendors about our role with helping them setup a white label of our product in Canada. We want to be in a vendor type role vs an investor type role. Hopefully it helps spit out what we are really looking for in the relationship.

Shawn came over and we are trying to get some things done with the sales tax project. He is doing some small clean-up stuff on the project and also doing some of his own payroll stuff to fill the time.

Brainstorming with Shawn about the sales tax expansion project. We got out a whiteboard and started to do some planning and explaining in an old school manner. It really helped to see things visually vs just putting things in writing. We defined a few things, drew some diagrams, talked about the what and why, and then moved from topic to topic. It helped me get a better understanding of what we are doing. Hopefully it helped Shawn get an idea as well. Good stuff.

Shop 3413 Adilas Time 1/22/2018   Back on a whiteboarding session to layout some flow, plans, and strategies for the sales tax stuff. Shawn was helping me with some basic concepts.

- Think of base camps

- Working from the known good

- Build on the known good

- Branch off of master and start a new branch per mini project

We also added a couple mini projects to the list of projects... Here is the new list:

0. database prep and database updates (huge changes for this project)
1. in-line dollars off discounts
2. prep for mini conversions
3. going to 5 decimals of accuracy
4. mixed discounts
5. allowing or not allowing price changes and discounts on individual items
6. new dynamic names and aliases for all tax buckets
7. rounding error bucket
8. where items came from when being added to cart
9. new math on tax calculation (limit by category, before/after math, limit by customer type, 5 decimals)
10. new cart line item holding values (attributes within the cart line structure - session stuff)
11. alphabetizing certain structure keys
12. normal parts and items vs stock/units or bigger serialized items
13. Pulling all of the pieces together - deployment process and strategies (tons of moving pieces)

We have tons of work that is done. We need to break things into smaller pieces and follow each project through at a time. The deployment and testing of each mini project is huge. It also helps us to focus on what needs to be done. Starting tomorrow, we are going to be breaking things down a bit and trying to get a handle on what is needed.

Shop 3476 General 1/23/2018   Emails, paying bills, recording notes, and working through to do list items. Got the data 9 server up and live. Bryan did all the work there. I just helped in the final stages to make sure things were good and to push it live. I wrote some help files, and some light tech support.

Shop 3396 Adilas Time 1/23/2018   Logged into the morning GoToMeeting session with Steve. We went over a few updates and touched base on a few things. He is working with the Canadian's on some licensing agreements and building out the plant phases for elements of time (sub flags and tags - capable of doing sub phases and such).

Shawn came over and Steve approved him to be put on at a 1/2% (0.005) of gross deposits. He was at 5% of those who used payroll, but this will be better for him and easier for me to calculate.

After that, I pushed some of the main controller tables (data 0 as the master data set) back and forth between the servers and got all of the help files updated for the 2nd vendor stuff for both PO's and expense/receipts.

After that, I worked with Shawn and we made a better plan for jumping into the sales tax expansion project. I broke the 13-14 different mini projects into about 5 basic steps. I then started going through and recording notes and info about the different projects and their phases. Trying to get the mother load broken down into bite size pieces.

Shop 3432 Russell Time 1/23/2018   Working with Russell over a Zoom session. Most of the session was him showing me a couple of projects that are either done and/or in the works. We merged in some code that allowed a Google calendar to be shown inside of an adilas page (an iframe). We talked about a related items page for ecommerce. We also talked about using pre-built tools like WordPress or other content management tools for adilas news and updates and other things. We talked about the want we have to keep everything attached in one place but how much that takes and costs vs using an existing tool to get things started. We then did some planning on a web coupon option for ecommerce. Planning at the database level and making notes and going through verbal scenarios. Good session.

Shop 3397 Adilas Time 1/24/2018   Met up with Steve on the morning GoToMeeting session. We were only on for just over an hour. We are trying to keep the meetings short so that we can make more progress on the projects that are in front of us. We started out and I was showing Steve my project phases and planning for the sales tax expansion project. I'm still working on the planning for that project deployment and output phases. We then took some time and worked with Steve in helping him with some drill-down code for his plant phase reports. He is making lots of progress and working with the sub flags and tags for elements of time.

Alan joined us and gave us a demo on the Campaign Rise site and how the development is going in that area. We liked what we saw and gave Alan some suggestions and asked him some small update questions. Good stuff.

After all of that, we closed the morning meeting and went back to work on our individual projects. I went back to planning the deployment of the sales tax expansion project, Alan was working on tweaks for Campaign Rise, and Steve was doing his sub phases reports and wire job and working on the license agreement with the Canadian company.

Lots of planning on the roll out of the sales tax expansion project. As a random side note... my planning doc was getting big enough that I thought that I should move it out of Notepad and into MS Word. As I did, I found a 7 page project management document that I had started back in July of 2017. Sadly, I don't think that I have opened it up since then... all of my notes and such have been recorded either in elements of time, in media/content, or in a simple Notepad document. I kinda feel bad. I'm actually headed over to read that doc next. I'm not sure what the shift was from documentation to busily working and coding but somewhere there was a switch. It may have been pressure to get things done or just getting pulled off of the project for weeks at a time and not remembering what was where. kinda sad and kinda interesting at the same time.

Shop 3415 Adilas Time 1/24/2018   Back doing more planning. I did record a couple of notes about what I had learned with some of the old project management stuff. See below for a copy and paste note section...

///////// direct copy from a different page of notes:
part way through the day on 1/24/18 i decided to pull out the newest project planning into a word doc. this file was getting too big. while i was in the same local folder, i found a 7 page document that i had started back in july of 2017 on the same topic... i don't know what happened, but somehow we went from trying to document things into a flurry of coding, and starting to work on the project, then after some major time had gone by, i was the only developer and we saw we needed some help, we had to pull in some other developers... we then spent tons of money and had them help for almost 2 months... we did make quite a bit of progress, but in the end, the project fell back on me to finish up... it made me kinda sick to see an un-used 7 page doc that may never have been opened and/or used. we all (all of the develoers) just wanted to jump in and start fixing things vs seeing and sticking to a plan. i think that is very interesting. right after i finish this little note, i'm going back in and rereading that 7 page doc. i don't even know what is there and i wrote it...

- see the expand_sales_tax_fields_project.docx back from july 2017. (see attached)

after reading the above page (actual word doc), i found the first part very good... it was almost a virtual check list... as the page got deeper, it ended up branching off into all kinds of different topics and possible connections that weren't really part of the main project. it may have been left due to it not being finished, not being focused enough, or any other possible causes... it had a good start, it just didn't get finished and got too loose. i'll bet that it got abandoned due to starting to code things... once we were coding things, we just flowed from one piece to the next. we actually had some good flow going until i got pulled off the project. once we came back to it (after quite a bit of time off)... we needed help and were starting to feel pressure, that forced us into a quick review period and then blasting right into the mix without a full plan. i think that is where things started to fall apart... who knows... maybe even before that, but i know things changed when we got other players involved and didn't have a full plan in place. note to self... make a plan, keep it focused, and then try to work the plan. i know that is ideal, but I really think it helps to have a good plan that is focused and simple. not too much extra and/or fluff. that is hard for me because i really like to dream sometimes. maybe keep the dreaming in a different place. it is all good. lessons learned.

idea - if the project is big enough, maybe make a local folder and put things there in the local folder... that way we have a set place to put everything.

Shop 3398 Adilas Time 1/25/2018   Steve and I got on together and chatted over the morning GoToMeeting session. We were talking about servers, databases, load balancing, watchers, feeders, summing things up, and world building stuff.

Steve sees that we have 3 limiting pieces:
They are: time, resources, and technology

I thought that it was kinda fun that 3D world building concepts have 3 pieces.
They are: x=time, y=resources, and z=space (depth, organization, layering, and stacking - spatial concepts).

Steve and I also talked about some budgeting stuff and where we are headed. We got off the morning meeting within an hour of starting. We then both rolled into our own individual projects. I started updating a file that dealt with corporation data counts. I had to add a number of new tables to the list. This is a small page that counts data and database records per corporation. I then started to run some exports off of the live server. I need to restore my local database and thought that I would do a full adilas data back-up in the process. I spent the rest of the session pulling down live database data for my local machine. The plans are to burn a copy, put it with the other back-ups, and get my local developer's box with good data.

Shop 3484 csv and server notes 1/25/2018   Working with Bryan over a GoToMeeting session. He has a project for eXPO (a 3rd party vendor) who wants to do some white labeling. I did an intro to themes and black box for Bryan. I wanted to show him where I thought things should go as far as white labeling and bulk black boxing of stuff. We did a number of drawings and explaining and then we actually started working on the black box options for the custom folder. We read through pages, made simple test pages, and did some light testing. We spent most of our time in the custom folder, setting things up so that it could work and play like the main top_secret folder, the secure folder, and the pdf folder. Those folders are where most of our black box pages are currently. Good session.

Shop 3399 Adilas Time 1/29/2018   GoToMeeting with Steve
- Working on cleaning up my local database. Wrote a small custom page to help delete unneeded database tables and limit the actual data that I had on my local box.
- Bryan came on and Steve and I talked with him about options for white labeling. Lots of discussion about black boxes, themes (bulk black boxes), smaller takeovers, and simple 3rd party pages and applications. There may end up being a varying range that we need to deal with and plan for. White labeling may end up being a new revenue source for us. Still testing out the waters. Good ideas and such.
- 30 minute phone call with Russell talking about PHP and possible options. He would like to develop a PHP app that could play along with and use the adilas database. We talked about both native connections and API socket access. I think we are going to be going the API socket route for now. That would be safer for all parties.
- The deeper we go, the more we are trying to become a platform for others to build on and/or off of. We want to handle the data storage and processing. We will provide a flexible backbone application, but will allow for all kinds of frontend development that ties in with out backend system, logic, and database storage engine. Lots of potential there.

Shop 3421 Adilas Time 1/29/2018   Back on fixing my local database and trying to get it ready for more work on the sales tax project. Checking and verifying results between live and local. Only had one major miss match on the sub dates and times for elements of time. I found that I could get different results based on the SQL editor that I was using. That is kinda strange. Everything else looked great.

Shop 3401 Adilas Time 1/31/2018   Reviewing the master license agreements between us and the Canadian group. See attached for a preview copy. Alan got onto the GoToMeeting session around 10 am and we touched base for a bit. I then finished up my review of the license agreement and then started back into the sales tax expansion project. My job today was to work on the maintenance.cfc page. This has a number of functions that help when creating a new corporation. I went through things and did some updating, merging, commenting, and testing. I then pushed the new files up to the current tax branch.

Shop 3435 Russell Time 1/31/2018   Russell showed me some of his training files that he is doing in PHP. He is in there learning some new code and trying to put things together for a demo and/or training site. After that, we used a Zoom session and worked on the invoice due date project. We are getting close to getting that whole piece of the puzzle up and launched. We are currently out in the ecommerce or shop folder fixing a few files. All of the other internal files should be good to go and will either show/hide the due date based off of corp-wide settings. Making progress.
